Whizbang is absolutely a great option for new players, and while I doubt it could take you to #1, you absolutely can hit legend rank.
A lot of folks including a lot of streamers called this a trap card because allegedly the decks were non-competitive. I think it is reasonable to assume that all but the pros define "competitive" as able to reach legend. I will admit that the last 4 games I had a hell of a streak of deck selection RNG, but there are only 18 decks; the best ones come up frequently.
Good luck.
I wish I could claim world first, but I have no clue as to whether that is true. I would imagine it was at least top 5 quickest.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Uh, the last time I slept was two hours before Boomsday went live.
I don't really know why but I really wanted to see if this could be done. Whizbang was a really good call in general, but it takes some of the allure away if there's a glass ceiling on r5.

I opened a Golden whizbang which is awesome cause it turned the whole deck gold. I won 3-4 games. The one I lost was with shaman. I didn’t see the point of the deck but some elemental synergy. I didn’t play as much as you did but I agree it’s got good potential and good recipes so far

Wow that's one heck of a run! Congrats! I didn't open him so I will craft a golden one :) I think he is perfect for someone like me who has been around since beta but plays mostly for fun.

I think there are a few factors at play here:
1) A new player would probably not do very well with 18 different decks. But for someone that is knowledgeable about the game but doesn’t play a lot, hasn’t played in a long time, or just doesn’t have a good collection it is awesome.
2) The deck recipes are a hell of a lot better than they have been in the past. There are no more jokes like Freeze Shaman.
3) Right now is the best time to ladder with a suboptimal deck. Players are experimenting with new cards and the decks are unrefined. That doesn’t mean it isn’t feasible to get to legend in the future but the deck recipes would be relatively better now.
Been playing with Wizzbang myself and have been loving it.
Why do you want to craft it? Stick with recipes, roll a dice to choose your deck and play. I got it golden, tested it the first day and got dissapointed because recipes are not fun decks.

Because it takes a hell of a lot more than 1600 dust to make the recipe decks?

Honestly, I was expecting more from this card and it was a huge let down when I knew it recycles recipe decks. Even if I say this, the recipes are fine.

It's lasting value. The deck recipes will change every expansion allowing me to play with new cards without buying any packs.

Its nice to see someone has done it. But a word of caution to new players. The " I had a hell of a streak of deck selection RNG, but there are only 18 decks; the best ones come up frequently." is not something that is repeatable by everyone. Second you went from level 5 to legend early in a new meta. How many new players are going to be at level 5? Not many. I have Whizbang, its a fun card. If all you want is to play different decks and have some fun, go for it. If on the other hand your a new player and you think this is your ticket to legend ranks, think again. You are just as likely to get a run of horrible decks (Priest dragon-clone is awful) as you are of getting the great ones. Its likely better to make a strong deck like Zoolock and master it.
Gratz man. I got a gold one as my freebie, but I dusted it due to needing dust for things I actually wanted. I know people will think I'm probably nuts for doing this, but like hey, at least you're having fun with the card dude.
Sorry, I had to sleep, and yes, it was a ridiculously lucky run.
Obviously it helped that it was the first two days of the meta, I doubt I could do it even a week from now with twice the number of games. That's why I jumped on it right at the beginning.
On the other hand, I'm not the best player by a long shot. So I figure me in the first two days is probably about equivalent to a better player in a settled meta, so I still think it'll be doable.
I just wanted folks who were considering the craft to know that you aren't wasting your dust.

Took 98 games from rank 5 0 stars.
Phew

63% win rate (62-36) to go from rank 5 no stars to legend in 98 matches.
That is really good even for tier 1 meta netdecks.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
Proof?
Nice!
I fear it will get alot harder once the meta settles and everyone on ladder's playing refined decks though.
Why would someone bother to lie about that?

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
