Ok, reviving my topic. As it was mentioned, it is easy to reach rank 10 with proper deck. For me it was a lot easier than standard. It was almost one big win streak with 4-5 loses. Then I could reach rank 9 with one lose and rank 8 on win streak. And now I’m stuck on rank 8 - 50% winrate. Was it just a luck? Or real game starts here, at rank 8? May be I should swap a deck? Advices from wild veterans are much appreciated!
Higher ranks in Wild= way harder matchups and way more powerfull decks. Im tilting back and forth for straight 5 days between r5 and r2 with decks like Renolock,Reno Mage and Anyfin Paladin. My Standard climb was really easy when I attemped it few months ago while in Wild,it truly feels like a grind. In Standard you are not getting slapped by 20 atk weapon while getting milled, In Standard you don't have to clear Guldan,NZoth and then Glinda+Mechwarper+Zilliax boardfloods while also dodging Dirty Rats,Gnomeferatus and other things. You don't loose to a Druid consistently on turn 5-6 because of Ramp,Juicy Psychmelon and Star Aligner etc. Wild counterparts of Standard decks are so much stronger and rewarding to play. So summarized yes: Wild is harder than Standard.
As a deck builder, I find wild easier to climb because the metas are less solved, everyone in standard just plays a net deck and if you don't then you can't expect to win.
Wild is not harder, the fact is that the matchups are waaaaay more polarized. You have to be lucky to not face your counters during your climb or you will start losing a lot.
I played secret hunter to 5 in wild, it was pretty easy, but then the real cancer starts with those big priests and uber druids. I swapped to kingsbane and suddenly began to encounter hyperaggro decks xD
All in all the climb to rank 5 is much easier but 5 to 1 is full of powerful synergistic decks.

Small question - is the aforementioned glinda crowskin combo that common? I haven't faced many renolocks in standard, but I am yet to see this being played.
@ topic - No doubt wild is harder. It has more busted decks, more optimized builds and there you will see a lot of counters being used. Not to mention, that laddering will be almost impossible for new players, who don't have all the fancy cards. Standard is easier, because it's also more predictable.
Since I reached Wild Legend for the first time I manage to get Legend (18th EU) in Wild every month not struggling much (doesn't matter if it's begining or the end of the season). So first of all Wild Ladder is not that hard. Usually I picked the deck I like at the begining of the month and played it till Legend to master different kind of decks (Tier 1/2). I stopped playing Standard for half a year and when I came back I had much more difficulties climbing from 10 to 5 in Standard rather then in Wild to Legend (maybe it's beacuse I don't know the meta well or maybe I'm just bad at this game). Still I never managed to reach Legend in Standard - one of the issues is Standard being dust heavy. I know it sounds weird for many but in Wild I have all Tier 1 decks and a couple of Tier 2 decks (T2 usually on budget-mode without Legendaries I would not use much). I can have all these decks because "good" cards remain good for a long time - in Standard it shifts constantly. And I don't play that much - 3500 games won, played since Old Gods so I had to craft all the staples like Mal'ganis or Loatheb.
And I have to agree that if we talk about Legend Standard is much harder. All the good players are focused on Standard. We need to wait a couple of years till Wild will get some interest from larger community.

I really hate Hearthstone. Unfortunately I am good at it.
Anyway Wild is not that unpredictable as people say. When you reach a certain rank you start seeing the same decks spammed over and over like in standard. Big priest, Nzoth renolock/cube lock, even shaman, odd paladin, any combo druid, kingsbane-mill-rogue are at least 95% of my matchups.

It seems like Renolocks divided into 3 categories. 1 Haven't changed their cards at all apart from adding Demonic Project maybe,2 Runs on Kruul and Cubes shennanigans and also haven't changed anything, and then there is the 3rd category that included Glinda+Mechwarper+Zilliax combo as another strong tool. Lets just say that results are trully impresive. It is another board flood with N'Zoth and Guldan already and it acts as a removal due to trading with opponents board and as healing because of Zilliax abbilities. I belong in the 3rd category and I must say that the only mirror matchup that is trully difficult for me is the one, which also included this combo.
Standard is full of net decks and net decks are powerful. If you encounter a powerful deck with good draw and your deck is not specifically made to counter it, there is very little you can do to stop it.
I can't say much about Standard but I have been playing wild for quite a while, so I'll throw in my two cents about how Wild is to perhaps shed some light on what you would like best.
-Power level is crazy high there especially since last expansion, most decks have some sort of crazy highroll potential, so the amount of auto win/auto lose games is probably higher than Standard.
-Midrange decks are bad in wild, as power level is to high that combo decks and control decks can seal out the game much quicker, so in order to kill your opponent quickly you either have to get hyper aggressive with things like Pirate Warrior and Odd Rogue or vomit sticky crap onto the board thats impossible to control with Odd or Aggro pally. The only good midrange deck out there as far as I'm aware is Even Shaman. Something to keep in mind when playing wild.
-Disruption is a key factor in wild. Especially with Boomsday now in full swing, Dirty Rat is everywhere, and it is very realistic to never assume your combo pieces are completely safe vs decks you know run disruption. Going all in on one very powerful minion/combo like Shudderwock is very dangerous, and you should never have one sole win con that is vulnerable to disruption.
-If you thought Druid was running rampant in Standard, it's absolutely tearing up Wild right now. Juicy Psychmelon enables Druids to get to their combo ludicrously fast, and a myriad of combo Druids rule wild at the moment, ranging from the familiar standard Malygos and King Togwaggle to the Wild exclusive Star Aligner Druid (yes it's a real thing). Either accept Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King as your new overlords, or do whatever you can to have a way to beat Druids.
-If you're looking for some good decks to climb with in Wild, I would recommend Renolock (It's ability to have a chance in nearly every matchup is extremely valuable), Star Aligner Druid (Best combo deck in wild), and Even Shaman (Last good midrange deck in the format).
