Edit : and Mecha'thun of course. Most underrated card in the set btw.

Yeah we'll see :)
The effect is too conditional and hard to pull off. If you're playing Warlock, it's possible, but unlikely. I can see it being *decent* in Warlock, but nowhere else, especially not Druid like everyone thinks.
Warlock can't play and kill Mecha'thun in one turn, Warrior and druid can. Mecha'thun warlock will never ever ever ever ever be a thing because hex and poly and silence. On the other hand the effect is incredibly easy to pull off in a control shell with Hemet jungle hunter and lots of efficient low cost card draw, like warrior and druid card draw. Warlock card draw is limited to tap and that sucks a lot in this type of deck.
Anyway, doesn't matter who's right, but if you're picturing in your mind a Mecha'thun deck without Hemet jungle hunter, you're doing it wrong imo. And there really is nothing hard and conditional about emptying a deck especially one that was built for that purpose.
Also, you have to empty your hand. Druid and Warrior can't do that easily when it's all control cards, which is how most of the Mecha'thun decks work - unless you're proposing an aggro variant? It's easier to do in Warlock, since all you have to do is destroy your deck.
EDIT: Honestly I can't see the deck being viable other than in Wild either. First off, Druid is susceptible to Skulking Geist. Second off, I don't understand how it'd be playable in Warrior.

Everything is possible with Thaurissan. I meant in standard of course. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm looking at my theorycrafted decks right now and the only card that would be an issue is execute on an empty board. I can just replace execute with an unconditional card and it's all good. Control cards don't necessarily mean big cards. I have a control deck indeed but in fact the curve is extremely low, it's all 3 or less mana + Hemet + the combo.
Hemet doesn't discard the hand though, and low mana control cards aren't good enough against most decks. You'd also have to use just 3 or less mana control cards until your hand is empty, which doesn't bode well - you'll probably die by then. There just isn't enough support.
I can only see the deck working in Wild, sorry. The effect would just be too hard to pull off elsewhere, due to how the deck has to be built. Sure, you can run low mana control cards. But can they keep up against big threats and full boards? Doubt it.
Honestly, I'll go with tier 1 deck with no new cards and crush all the loosers who try new expansion on ladder :D
I thought this might be sarcasm but with your profile pic and username I actually believe you could be that much of a scumbag.
Thought same when I saw his profile pic LUL
You tell'em, xxxCREEPYKINGxxx.

Shudderwock means driving a clown car in circles around your opponent while he swings his sword at you. Half the time he chops you and your car to pieces. The other half you park on his legs and 40 clowns come out one by one, trampling him to death.
I will try to expand that list after final reveal stream. :)

Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
Most likely Highlander priest in Wild just like the last 3 months. I don't really enjoy the priest cards so far (as priest main) but hope the cards to be released will surprise me.
I'll not craft anything and will have 300g at max when expansion starts, so I'll not have new cards. But I have everything I need to play with thief priest. I will steal everything from my opponents, including new cards!
Yeah, it's possible. Draw your combo pieces, use Keening Banshee/Hemet, Jungle Hunter to destroy your deck slowly while controlling at the same time, then play Emperor Thaurissan and some heal or whatever and the following turn play Mecha'thun, Bloodbloom, Cataclysm.

I will play a “f*ck your gameplan” warlock. I hope everyone will try some juicy combo deck and I want to destroy their dreams.
*evil laugh*
Playing Hearthstone since Oct 2015. Favourite class: Warlock.
Aaaand I have 99 skills, but the english language ain't one. :D
the current Even Warlock
either wonderful whizbang or some braindead aggro to fuck up all those experimenting, mwahahahaha!
I'll try some Deathrattle-Mech-Hunter first. We'll have to wait for the final reveals, of course.
Hopefully I'll find a way to make a new Evolve Shaman work, integrating The Storm Bringer!
(I just love those RNG decks! :-) )
I really want to try mech warrior, mech hunter and tess rogue. After having some fun, I'll prob play maly druid like everyone else

Definentaly trying Mecha’thun Druid
first thing I'm trying is how the new Druid cards help or affect Astral Tiger. Gonna be very interesting to see how it works
Pogo-hopper Rogue

Sounds like you've never been legend before
Google search: Is Hearthstone free to play?
Gotta say, turns out mech paladin got a lot more mech support than I would imagined. Seems almost better than warrior.
Without a doubt, Yogg-Saron casino mage in wild, with the new sweet random additions in this expansion-.
