I have been a hearthstone player since open beta. I follow pro HS and watch a lot of streamers. I never bothered actually trying to reach legend until this season
I really like the metagame. I am climbing with a Control Warlock deck and this morning reached rank 5 which is the best ive ever reached. Struggling the most against Big Priest and Secret Mage. I see probably 20% warlock 25% Priest 20% Paladin and just random other classes for the rest.
I just want to reach legend one time so I can say im in the upper 99.5% or so of players lol.
HAHAHAHAHA CONTROL WARLOCK - LOVE THE METAGAME. Man, u never bothered to play ranked 'cause u never made a good deck, now u have a brainless one. Well done
Last I checked cubelock and controllock actually required thinking to pilot. You're thinking of Spiteful Summoner decks.

I used to play Miracle Rogue back in the day before nerfs and that is arguably the hardest deck ever built to play, that or Patron Warrior. I played pre-Argent Tournament Handlock, Reno Mage, and post Argent Tournament control warrior. Those were all tier 1 decks. I dont like Cube warlock because its too combo'ey. No reason to play Control Warrior because it doesnt beat much. I cannot stand playing aggro decks. So yeah, maybe the strategy of Control Warlock isnt very complicated but you make it sound like the deck is OP and it isnt.
Anyways I went from 10 to 5 with about a 65% win rate now that im at 5 I am about 50-50. Sadly CW is the only deck I have at the moment so I dont have the luxury of swapping classes to play against what I am seeing the most.

Brainless decks are every aggro face decks. Secret tempo mage and Big priest aswell. Actually big priest is the easiest deck to pilot among the top ones specially the wild version of it.
Spiteful priest isnt brainless but its rng. Against aggro u need to draw duskbreakers and u win vs control u need big high rolls on ur Spitefull Summoner.
DMH Fatigue Warrior Mill Kingsbane rogue and Controlock require skill by that order as yes the warlock is much easier to pilot.

That or he just cant win vs Control Warlock and is just mad. Which given his post would not make since as CW is a "brainless deck"
These guys don't know what they're talking about. Play the deck first then you can say your opinions if is "brainless" or not.
My advice to you is to run 1 Skulking Geist, it's your "only" win condition against combo Priest (you will face a lot in the ladder), if you face other decks just don't use him, it's simple.
Against mage, keep all the healings. If they use a secret, use a defile to active his counter spell, to use your healings later. It's a very hard match.
Against Paladin is little easier but if you don't have luck is hard too, DON'T TAP if you already have AoE and other cards you need. But if your hand is very heavy, you don't have other choice.
If you have a void lord in the hand, you can keep the weapon too, it's little greed but can win the game sometimes.
most decks are dumb past rank 5, my tips to reach legend are ... play with a deck that you like and that is viable to reach legend, most of the time you can be sure that your deck is viable reading forums and watching streams.
Be careful as a lot of streamers reach legend and after that start to experiment with crazy types of decks that most of the time are not viable to play through rank 5-1.
Also try to tech your deck based on what you're facing regularly, the meta change all the time, sometimes you face 5 priests in a roll, sometimes 5 hunters and sometimes 10 mages. Adding a Eater of Secrets or a silence might be the diference between 55 and 60% win rate, which is a big difference btw.

As you've probably figured out reading through this thread, this forum is much more about complaining about the meta than actually thriving within it. I doubt most people on this site's ability to reach legend. Head over to a more competitive focused environment if you want tips. For example I really like reddit.com/r/competitiveHS. They have a lot of rules about what can/can't be posted so don't go starting a topic asking for tips. It will get removed. Instead, look for writeups on Control Warlock and/or hit up the daily askCompetitiveHS thread.
If I had tips to give you I would but I'm not experienced in Control Warlock.
I dont remember the last time I lost to any Paladin. Again the fundamentals of the deck may not be complex but it has HORRIBLE matchups like Secret Mage, Big Priest, Jade Druid, and Control Warrior (not that many people play that) but all I am saying is this metagame fits my style. Thats all.
NO deck is truly mindless. If it were anyone could get legend, yet legend consists of the top 99.5% of players or so? Yeah clearly they gt legend rank because they picked Control Warlock. Has nothing to do with the fact that whatever deck you play you are going to need to play it well.
How about people rank 20-10 thats like 75% of players. How many tens of thousands of people are playing mostly Control Lock? Why arent they at legend bro? After all its a mindless deck right? Are you legend rank? Lets see some proof if you are. After all it cant be too hard right?
I view CW as honestly "fairly" risky to grind with. Alot of decks can get away with not drawing proper cards. CW cannot. Have fun against a Secret Mages When you dont draw heals. Have fun getting milled by those annoying ass Rogues and having the potential to almost instantly lose if certain cards get burned. I debate just leaving when I queue vs Big Priest. You could run 2x Siphon Souls and 2x Blastcrystal potions and it still wouldnt be enough.
I honestly dont know if there will be enough time to make it to legend this month. If you manage to have an actual winrate of 55% from now on you will have to play 250 games from rank5 to legend. It is absolutely makeable, but you should know in advance, that it will take a decent amount of time.
I get that but the 55% winrate I have is a very small sample size. I have played maybe 8 games at rank 5 so its definetly doable, just need to play alot and win more.

as control WL, as weird as it sounds - keep dark pact against secret mage, healing is everything and you will draw into taunts and gul dan eventually.
Enjoying the game as a Control Warlock? Best joke of the year so far.
No man, they required to DRAW into your board control tools, and your unlimited heals, and that's all.
the amount of Salt from people. Proving once again that literally any deck will be called brainless as long as it's strong.
Keep going OP. I never made it to Legend, always thought getting rank 5 for the rewards was annoying enough.
I tried having fun once. It was awful.

I'm sorry for my bad english :v

Lol people complaining about control Warlock and calling it brainless.. I guess you guys are and always will be aggro players??

Whatever.
Warlock is OP I know, but it's better to have an OP control deck then an OP aggro.
At least you have more than 4 turns to play the actual game.
People can be such arseholes. I wish you the best and good luck, OP :,D
