I'm also struggling in the current season, usually I managed at least a single digit rank without grinding a lot, but currently I'm stuck at 15.
Always feels like I play the wrong deck for the meta, when I run secret mage I'm only playing against aggro pala or control warlock with 2x eater of secrets. If I switch to Cubelock I'm facing Secret Mage and Mill Rogue all the time. And if I bring out Mill Rogue myself it's one aggro deck after the other.
Whenever I try to react to the meta, my matchups completely change. Also everyone complains on secret mage being OP and it's basically the first time sind K+C release that I can't climb quickly with secret mage.
But I know that I'm just not a big grinder, so my testsize probably just is too small
This month was kind of brutal all around. Took me 4 hours just to get from rank 9 to 5 mid season. Sometimes RNG just screws with you!

Last season i climbed to rank 10 and to be honest i got scared i will lose so much but now i got to rank 18 than i dropped to rank 20.I think that the fact that everyone tries new decks and its unpredicable what they will use and so everyone make there decks so its unpredictable.I dont know why i win casuals easy ,but when it comes to ranked i lose so much.
I use this deck:AAECAaIHBrICzQOvBO0Fyb8CgcICDLQBjAK9BJsFiAekB90Ihgn1uwLrwgLc0QLb4wIA its Miracle/Tempo Rouge basiclly decks core cards are Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Fal'dorei Strider i found this deck of twitter so you have spells to draw all the 4/4 spiders and its good deck but on ladder is bad i dont know why and i kinda want to make Steal priest but i am low on dust so yeah.Help me if you can help and i can help you if you want :D
Nvm i found good deck that seems good and desnt require a lot of dust deck:AAECAa0GBKEGpQnWCsrDAg34AuUEjQjRCvIMgrUCtbsCursC8LsC0cEC2MECy+YC/OoCAA==
My advice is go full robot, play fast decks ( aggro or midrange ) that you can play with a positive winrate and spam them. It sounds cheap but if you’re playing at your best and is RNG or just strange meta that cockblocks you play a ton, statistically a “balanced game” should let you win as much as you lose ( that’s why if you’re in a losing streak you shouldn’t get mad beacuse your odds to win increases every time ) if you play a deck that has a winrate higher than 50% and you play it a lot you’ll ( slowly ) rank up ( that’s why my advice is aggro since usually they are more fast ).
Wow, RNGsus is not only crapping on me lol. I'll admit, I'm not a top ranker, but I can hit 13 easily, I just usually don't go farther simply because I don't put in the countless hours. I just play here and there in class or at lunch/dinner. However, I'm an avid MTG player so I'm not unfamiliar with metas and meta shakeups. I'm decent at deckbuilding and understanding the interactions of every card possible. Etc.
But yeah, I've been stuck sub 16 for about 30 games. Even had to end a night with a loss streak of 8? 9? Something like that. Dropped all the way back to 20. Horrible. Draws were constantly horrible. I got cards drawn out of order. And my opponent always got the perfect top deck and opening hand. Every rogue started with Kingsbane. Every big priest got T3 or 4 Barnes. You know the crap deal.
The best deck right now is my trusty zoolock. I took a break for a day after constant loss and started again with zoo. I'd say it has a 60% WR right now? Decent. It folds to a couple decks or just bad luck, but other than that, it does its job. If anyone plays MTG, it's like mono-red burn. When unsure what to play, play burn and you can usually steal easy wins when everyone else is still trying new decks and no one has a good grasp of what the current meta is.
The real reason for this is there is like 11 dominate decks, and all are very good, but also very beatable. So the meta is very balance, and are counter decks to each other.
It's a weird meta. Hunter isn't even a good class but I'm winning just about every game I play with it, but can't win when I queue up with better decks. That corridor creeper Nerf really shook things up.
I’ve never encountered this. I’ve always thought draw and matchmaking was manipulated behind the scenes, but it seems way more prominent now. I believe nerfing behind the scenes makes sense, but it seems like things are way wonkier than usual.
I'm facing the same problem - been stuck around ranks 8 and 9 for literally a week now. OVER A HUNDRED GAMES and I'm playing Big Priest, Spiteful Priest, Secret Mage, and Murloc Pally. Even tried no-minion Hunter for a bit. I always reach rank 5 pretty easily, so this is pretty annoying :/

I have been saying for months now, that something in the matchmaking had changed, but of course nearly every mention of it was always met with the "conformation bias" or "tin foil hat" response, so why bother? There is just no way it can be explained away why you can play 3 different decks, and get 3 drastically different matchup percentages. I could understand some deviation, but not 15-20% deviations.

It’s obvious..some people just want to believe that everything is pure. In all honesty, I don’t blame Blizzard, as it’s the easiest way to keep things competitive. Manipulation of probability allows nerfs without freaking the community out. IMO the card nerfs are the reason for the probability being off. I’ve seen way too many perfect RNG moments over the last week.
I'm skeptical that matchmaking matchup percentages have been manipulated (though I can't for certain say it has or hasn't).
It's just that if it has I think it's damaging to the reputation of Team 5/Blizzard.
And it can't be hidden in data analysis on sites like hsreplay.net who track 100,000s of games - the skew would be obvious with a sample size that large.

Would not be obvious, no matter what sample size, unless you had knowledge of, and a means of tracking the basis for picking winners and losers. In fact, it would 'wash out' with a larger sample size and be even less discernable. As an example, could stats tell you that you get worse results if your name starts with 'S' on Tuesdays? Not unless you were looking for it.

Just pay attention going forward. I’ve noticed it the biggest with tech cards. I’ll put in a Geist, see zero Druid for 10 games. I’ll start hitting a bunch of mage and hunter. Drop Geist for eater, nothing but Druid. There is definitely loaded probability with match making and card draw/RNG. Blizzard is like Vegas. They want competitive fun moments. Not everyone pays attention to meta reports, or has the cards to combat tier 1 decks. Blizzard is just balancing the force.
It's true it would require access to data on a large scale, and analysis specifically checking for manipulation. But the data exists and the analysis can be done outside of Blizzard's control, and it would be damaging if found.
For that reason alone I think it's unlikely though as I say I don't deny it is theoretically possible.
The tech cards example would be relatively simple to check. And of course the whole point of tech cards is to help keep dominant decks in check, and to provide a player with the chance to counter. I doubt Blizzard would want to secretly manipulate this and I know I've been geisted and secret eatered myself a few times this week which hurt :)

They don’t neuter anything, and the data isn’t significant enough to verify or disprove. It’s slight bumps in probability either for or against. Whatever is needed. View it as a slider in video game settings. It’s adjusted based on the meta.
It’s the main reason Blizzard isn’t quick to nerf. Plenty happens behind the scenes to adjust gameplay. The only time a nerf is needed, is when the problem cards are very obvious, and the probability adjustment would be obvious as well. If everyone is playing certain problem cards, then it’s more likely to get noticed if they were to tinker with them behind the scenes.

Which makes it harder to rank.
Well ladder is poorly designed - the real ladder begins at legend, too bad Blizzard made it so hard to reach.
