Been playing casual mode for a bit of fun with totem shaman. Turns out its not fun.
Here is a list of my last 7 opponents
Voidlord Warlock (net decked)
Face hunter (net decked)
Secret Mage
Big Priest
Secret Mage (net decked)
Aggro paladin (net decked)
Aggro Paladin (same guy as above)
This is in casual mode. Why aren't people playing that top tier nonsense in ranked? Just kills any fun in casual as you might as well be playing rank 5 ranked. I mean don't people know that these decks are already good?
Some of the most fun in this game can be had in casual mode when you get 2 people with off beat decks that havn't be refined to within an inch of their life.
this is why you try to go out and make groups of hearthstone friends outside the game, (can't really recommend making friends in-game, not that it hasn't worked for me, is that it hasn't worked for me as many times as just going outside to a hearthstone event has worked)
casual is more tryhard than ranked my friend, just people with tier 1 netdecks trying to farm gold now, it's hard to even try and complete quests anymore. lol

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
Just play whatever deck you want to play in ranked. Casual is just ranked without a monthly end season rewards chest once you think about it.
I still experiment(always do, but that is my way of not being bored of the game). I play control Paladin with the DK, quest druid, a control rogue deck with giants with that long forgotten 5 drop from Karazhan etc. Literally every deck I play from every class is a "homemade" deck.
The problem is people don't appreciate different stuff while they enjoy playing rehashed versions of decks that have been seen so many times already. This month I am stuck at rank 19 but I don't even care. Every deck I face is meta and I get emoted until I squelch. When did Hearthstone get so disappointing...
The best part about Heartbstone is experimenting. Winning isn’t everything, and gold farming is just ridiculous. 30 wins for a lousy 100g is lol. Just play for fun.
Btw, the difference between doing your quests and a few ranked wins vs quests and tryharding all day for those 30 wins... minuscule. Oh well, not everyone can see that. The game isn’t a job for 99.9% of us, so why make it a grind.?
Casual has a MMR, so it's going to be hard to lock yourself down to the 'casual and easy' subgroup. If you've been winning your games you probably got locked into the group who is trying hard to win with meta decks.
Myself I found the best place to experiment is in Ranked 15-10. The folks who are trying hard blast past those ranks into 5 and up. The folks who bottom feed stay at rank 20. so I see the highest portion of odd decks in the 15-10 range, especially at the floors since people can just not care at that point.
I know I'm always at rakn 15 nowadays and most of my decks have been quest decks (as in, see "30 deathrattles, murloc, and Rogue" as my three quests so I make a N'zoth Murloc Rogue cycle deck) or just finding an interesting theme and running with it. RIght now my highlights include a divine spirit Bolvar Paladin deck and a Dead Man's Hand C'Thun warrior deck (killed a Priest with a turn 10 C'thun, turn 11 C'thun :D). Only netdeck is a Control warrior deck I grabbed from the World Championship because I found the slower warlock decks interesting and I'm not sure I want to craft the warlock weapon and that Un'goro legendary required to run Cubelock properly but I have Rin).
I'm experimenting in Wild, but it's difficult. KaC is a fun expansion but it made the top decks so much better than anything else that experimental decks don't really have a shot.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
The casual mode is where folks just play for fun... here's an interesting question:
Who ever made the claim that it was a mode for off-beat decks that can quite simply just be described as 'bad' from a Spike-perspective? You? Well, that's how YOU enjoy the game.
What if folks just want to play the game and enjoy it their way? How about completing quests? How about unfamiliarity with decks? How about folks who enjoy playing these decks and don't care about ranks?
The point is this... if you want to enjoy the game in a single way, then you have to look towards other people who are willing to do something like that. If not... well, your way to enjoy the game is not the only way to do it and thus'...
This ain't so much a rant but rather a demonstration of a very narrow and highly selfish mindset.
''Highly selfish mindset''. Ok bud. Glad you got your good deed in for the day
Not sure if everyone posting here really plays wild, but in casual I see plenty of different decks along with meta decks. I myself probably play with 80-90% meme decks in wild casual to complete my quests.
Played casual today to do shaman daily quest and it was aggro pally, keleseth lock, secret mage almost nonstop.
Another elemental shaman, a control paladin and a warlock finding out big spell lock is a disasterous RNG concoction (archivist used DOOM while he had control of board) were the unique ones, but spread thin in the outing.
Debating on crafting Rin and using her in a Voidlord/Cube deck that sneaks in the Howlfiend/Treachery combo. That or go wild and try Weasel Priest.
/just one cubelock too, has that fallen from grace?
All the experiments were already done by pros and there are countless meta reports out there .
After a few weeks of a new expansion, people just get tired of losing with bad decks, and then go play the good decks .
I like how jade druid was rediscovered btw . It was thought to be extinct at the start of the new expansion but thanks razakus and cubelock stomping the aggro it has it's chance these days . There is no better feel than to build your ever growing jades and armor vs a priest who struggles to find the combo pieces in time . Deck is not even that bad vs aggro . took me to rank 5 easy .
casual is more tryhard than ranked my friend, just people with tier 1 netdecks trying to farm gold now, it's hard to even try and complete quests anymore. lol
You must be a terrible player then, it is still easy enough, even if one hasnt got all the cards

No ladies and gentlemen netdecking in general or here netdecking in casual isn't the problem. At most it's a derivative of a much harder, deeper problem of design which is a lack of diversity and balance.
Indeed 20 different viable netdecks are better than 5. More different netdecks played in casual give you less a feel of a problem and a better feel of 'diversity' than 5. At face value the same few top tier netdecks is a real annoyance in casual. A lack of diversity in win conditions is the real problem here. If 4 types op tier1 netdecks play 80% the same win condition you get to the core of the problem that causes the feel of annoyance concerning netdecking in general or subject matter in casual.
The lack of diversity in win conditions relates to the observation that zoolock, aggro druid, aggro paladin, face hunter basically employ the same type of win condition: spamm. buff, don't care about the board, go face (SBF). A subvariant of that is burn/secret mage.Others among them the OTK styled (Exodia Mage, Highlander Priest, Inner fire Priest) and the current Warlock-Type, interactive style. Not much of diversity is it? Worse to injury: As 80% of netdecks are that aggressive SBF, the feel of sameness and boredom is understandable.
TL;DR Your complaint is in the end not a problem of netdecking, but a lack of diversity in win conditions, therefore balance. In the end it is all about card design politics....as always.
Well put! Having played hundreds of matches in more versatile and skill-demanding games (such as Fantasy Flight's LCGs) Hearthstone falls flat in a miserable way. This game does tick so many boxes for me that I'm having enough fun and good time to keep on playing. But come a similarly accessible, more nuanced and still maintaining as wide a playerbase as Hearthstone, I will be one of the first to leave ship!

So you thought only Mage had an exodia combo eh
No, it’s just people appreciate winning more than gimping themselves.

Play casual Wild and you'll see a lot more variety.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
It always amuses me to read threads on net decking, on a site that pretty much is setup to promote neck decking.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
'casual' mode, yeah right. Unfortunately, switching to a wacky fun deck has no impact on your existing MMR.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
I'm experimenting in Wild, but it's difficult. KaC is a fun expansion but it made the top decks so much better than anything else that experimental decks don't really have a shot.

Hello!
Not sure if everyone posting here really plays wild, but in casual I see plenty of different decks along with meta decks. I myself probably play with 80-90% meme decks in wild casual to complete my quests.
Now i play my 10k dust tempo rogue in casual. Feels good man
