i've seen azari get the dirty rat treatment, it's beautiful. sometimes the player will be running skull as well though and just shaft themselves. I have did that myself tbh, cost me the game as I died to fatigue.
LOL I didn't even consider the Skull pulling it, that must be so funny hahaha. As long as people don't run weapon removal, the Skull remains there unless you Medivh or Jaraxxus, so it getting pulled is always a chance haha.
I did have the idea to run medivh as well to get rid of skull before you pull azari. you could even then drop atiesh and start throwing out signs to gain tempo, when paired with arcane tyrants and corridor creepers, it's beautiful as well.
I ended up just making a stripped back rin deck then using my skull in the doomcube deck though. it's weird that oakheart ended up being the one left out, ha ha... I did later put oakheart into my doomcube deck though as it needs more going on than just the combo as the combo will not happen too often.
This new control deck is awesome, but if it gets footing it'll promote more highlander priest in the meta until rotation.
I'm personally seeing about 50% control lock in my ladder matches and switching to priest just gave me free wins basically. Highlander just rolls over this deck.
And if highlander gets too common, in will come secret tempo mage and hunter. The whole meta is circular control lock is just popular ATM, probably because the ladder hasn't seen a control lock above t3 since Reno rotated out.
I actually wanted a control meta. Yes there's aggro in it but control decks are fun as hell
You were complaining about this expansion being aggro-aggroer-aggroest the other day. Aggro Paladin was the new cancer deck. Now you're complaining about Control?
Metas change, you know. Otherwise you're going to have a hard time of it...
And to be fair here, it was also pointed out at the time of the previous thread that Warlock was a good counter to the deck. That was debated both ways, but it looks like it was even stronger than imagined.
All that aside, Azari is nothing to do with control in any case. It is all about one-shot destroying your opponent. It is a 1-card win-condition. As long as Rin is killed as expected, the time-bomb commences and there's nothing at that point that the opponent can do about it. In that respect it's identical to playing against Solitairre AI Player... I mean, Exodia Mage....
Intestesting that you pointed out that Warlock to you became the new irritating deck, like Ice Block Mages, which indicates that you simply don't want to deal with them despite the tools Blizzard has given us to do so.
Much like Ice Block Mages can be dealt with Eater of Secrets, Silences, Dirty Rat, the same happens with Warlock, excluding the Eater of Secrets.
The problem is all in the mentality. "I have trouble dealing with X strategy, but I don't want to use Tech Cards to deal with X strategy, so I will go complain about it online instead".
This would be fine if I had said "I don't want to use X card for #reasons"... however, since nobody has suggested any "tech" cards to use up until this point, and therefore I have not refused to use them, your point is moot and is simply attempting to suggest I have said something I didn't. Perhaps you should have made the suggestion before jumping to such a poor conclusion like that? It seems more likely that this is your own excuse for not wanting to use said tech cards and you are merely projecting...

Yeah, having multiple 5 Mana costs for Atiesh even sounds pretty good.
That is the thing about Combo decks though, they need to be so perfectly tune to work minimally consistently, that is why I enjoy building and playing them so much. And having multifaceted Combo decks is quite interesting. One of my favourite decks to play, the Spell Druid works on this same principle, it allows the deck to be somewhat more adaptive if the matchup requires it. They are just really hard to tune.
yeah dude, I also love combo decks. I had only ever played the worgen version of patron warrior, and a cheap inner fire priest combo deck previously though as I only started playing in old gods meta, and then only played for 2 months.
as I had crafted the skull on day one, I decided to go with the "doom-cube" deck though as it got use out of my skull, and I got to use the spellsinger card from ungoro which I thought looked really cool (the card art, I mean.. it's probably my favourite from the set) I know it probably won't be the most consistent deck of the meta, but it sure will be fun to break out that combo on someone.
This meta I am only really playing warlock decks though, and lucky for me they are performing pretty well. We now have some insane healing capabilities as well... the emotes you get back after dark pacting a mistress of mixtures is astounding.
I'd like to see some of your combo decks anyway... I have my own version of the doomcube uploaded if you want to check it out as well.

Yeah, I've been playing since Beta, started with Freeze and Miracle and I've played way too many Combo decks over the years.
I can imagine, 2 mana heal for 12 is kinda problematic for Aggro ahha.
As for my Combo decks, well, I have a few of them posted in my decklists here on the site, most of them I just never gotten around to posting here. The Druid one is linked right there to check, I can make sure to post more of the decks, it is already fun to look for other Combo decks so I'll try, that way you can just see them by checking the decklist pages I have.
So, there's definitely a feeling of "Called it" when it comes to the Azari, the Devourer deck. It's so ridiculously strong. The fact that Warlock now has the ability to call up seemingly never-ending waves of Voids to protect against any and all board threats means that stalling the game for Warlcok is now a piece of cake.
Sure, a solid burn mage deck might get through, but that seems about all that's able to counter this deck solidly at the moment.
The stats suggest that Aggro Paladin is good against this deck, but it's bneen hit and miss for me - especially if they get their early taunts up and their crazy "1-mana Heal for 8" spell!
Very balance, much design.
Anyway, that sounds a bit like a salty rant - which maybe it slightly is, but it's not intended to be. The point I was originally making was that most people I spoke to here or elsewhere all claimed Azari would be way too slow to be feasible / work in any reasonable way without getting swarmed over by aggro. But it appears that they were wrong - Warlock now has all the janksy tools it needs to become the new irritating deck - much like Ice Block Mages have been.
You could play satellite priest and mind control their voidlord so they can't resurrect it. You can mind control on turn 8 now with archivist.
that's why we run cubes and n'zoth. we crate more voidlords, you'll run out of tech before we run out of voidlords. also if a deck runs both skull and lackies, we have tons of ways of getting them out there early and making copies.
I have made a new n'zoth deck that capitalises on the umbra+cube combo, but instead of a "doomcube" deck, it is used to create a ton of void lords for n'zoth to bring back.. can be done with eggs as well if you want.
deck is a WIP, but it's in my sig if anyone would like to offer critique. Will be testing it out at some point today and seeing what needs done.
took the lackies out to cut back on stuff n'zoth brings back that isn't ideal though... I am hoping skull does a good enough job on it;s own, otherwise I replace it or just add lackies as well.. also not sure if umbra will be needed, but the idea of creating a ton of of voidlords in a similar way to how the doomcube works would be beautiful. the most annoying control deck you've ever seen :)
If they don't know you have it, they're not as likely to play dark pact. Even if they wait a turn to play dark pact, that's a whole extra turn longer they have to go, which mean you can play more of your own cards to burst them down. If you're playing a deck that can only win by turn 20 I can see that still being a problem, but then so what? Every deck has weaknesses. The meta would be even worse than it is now if there was a deck that could win 60% of its matchups overall.

Sure - but the problem is that in the current meta, where Spellbreaker is uber-commonly found in most decks (bar a few), then it is more likely the 'Lock will want to ping it quick. At least that's what I have found anyhoody.

Well then like I said, tough titties. Run Nerubian Unravelers, win before turn 11 (since they cant' win by turn 10 if they play it on 7 for pact), or tech in togwaggle and use the rest of his deck lol.

Whelp! I think that I am facing Warlock on at least every other match now. Perhaps almost every match (that's how it feels).
I think I've actually grown tired of the game for the first time ever. Even packing every silence under the sun it seems to make little difference most of the time, since the Voidlords and Doomguards just get pulled back repeatedly anyway.
Shame, really. I have always really enjoyed Hearthstone, even through the more aggravating expansions with Pirates and C'thun decks. But this just feels boring now. I don't mind the Warlock deck being a "thing", but I'm seeing it so often it makes it pointless to play anything else - and I find the deck incredibly boring to play myself. Ah well! *shrugs*
