A lot of the time I see people saying that this game is trash, that they don't have fun playing it and stuff like that (on twitch and this forum). I feel a lot of that negativity and maybe that makes me feel that this game isn't that good (turning bad RNG into rage). The only positive comments I see them from pro players. So I want to ask people on this forum:
Why you consider that Hearthstone is a good/fun game?
Hearthstone is addictive as fuck! Additionally to that: If I speak for myself atleast, I´m not willing up to give up a Game I invested a fucking Fortune into (round about 1000€) and as much time as I did, probably 3000-4000 Hours of my Life
That’s a sunk cost. It shouln’t be taken into consideration when deciding your future choices.
Hearthstone is not good. It has some good aspects.... The problem of HS is Ben Brode, that guy need to go NOW. The game right now is completely skill-less and 100% RNG dependent.
Like most things in life, it's fun as long as you don't take it too seriously. If you're honest with yourself about what you're setting out to achieve and what you're willing to invest to get there, it should stay fun for a long time.
I'm not saying it's perfect, but it definitely is (usually) fun.
i play a good amount of video games, wow/diablo/madden/battlefield but hearthstone lately has been my favorite. i can sit at my computer or sit on the couch and use my laptop while watching tv. games normally don't last that long and even though im new and still learning im having tons of fun with it.
It has its good points and its bad, but yes its fun. Its a challenge and a thinking game with luck tossed in. Could it be better, well yes, but nothing on this earth is perfect.
My entire life i played team related games and Hearthstone is a new experience for me, a solo game that it is 100% reliant on me and RNG. People say its 90% rng and 10% skill but i beg to differ. Why can some players constantly climb to rank 5 under every 50 games per season? a few bad Rng okay... but once u play around your matchups, you will win over the long run.
The answer is a very obvious yes. It doesn't mean that improvements can't be made. I think a LOT of the whining is from hipster idiots who just parrot what they read on reddit.
For some reason it's fun to talk with friends about. Then it's arguably the best game that you can play both on your phone and laptop. It's easy to pick up but difficult to master.
TLDR : The card designers and game programmers are lazy -- always finding a way to work around many problems instead of just fixing it and using it. Many things should change, but I'll still play this game because I'm always enticed by building decks. Plus it functions smoothy.
THIS GAME IS NOT GOOD.
The game needs some major overhauls...
It needs to display a discard pile and interact with said discard pile. Furthermore, "Name a Card" effects should exist, and allow players to type in any card name (with filters, similar to searching collection) during the game to enable counters to Reno Jackson, Raza, N'Zoth, Ice Block, Jade Idol, A few of the new DKS, and other effects that dominate the format all in a single card. This is better than "Tech against Secrets" or "Tech Against Jade Idol" because it can be used against anyone, and it can be killed to stop its effect.
A secondary permanent type needs to be added. We have a little bit of Enchantments already in the form of Nether Portal as an example. We need more of these and ways to interact with them (Destroy, Discover, Draw, Steal, Etc)... Then buff Nether Portal to have Stealth / Immune or whatever so its still "worth" it (even though its not).
Classic and Basic set should not be incorporated in standard every year. A rotation that removes everything is healthier for the game, but more challenging on the designers. Instead of 3 sets per year, we need 4 sets per year. Either that, or we need an ADDITIONAL small set for Wild Only, Arena Only, or Casual Only... cards that are physically not allowed in Ranked, like Magic's silver bordered UN sets.
We also need 50 more cards per set. Sets should be in two block groups that share themes and keywords. This would allow the first set to introduce the new mechanics and have fun, while the 2nd set applies those mechanics in different ways. Imagine with Inspire. First set we get things like we currently have: "Inspire: Add a random spell to your hand." the following set we could get more inspire cards but also more cards that enable inspire: "Your inspires trigger an additional time" or whatever. This allows players to dedicate a full deck to a mechanic without that deck running janky cards that aren't terribly good.
We also need rotations to change more frequently. Currently, Spring Sets rotate after ~24 Months, Summer Sets rotate after ~20 Months, and Winter Set Rotates after ~16 Months. We need 4 sets to come out during midseason of each season, in pairs: Winter Spring and Summer Fall sets (WS and SF). When the WS set of 2018 comes out, the SF set of 2016 leaves. When SF of 2018 comes out, the WS of 2017 leaves. This means every set would rotate after 18 Months (first half of the pair) and 15 Months (2nd half of the pair) at the same time. We would still have 6 sets in standard, but the designs could be more focused and allow variety among decks of similar archetypes (C'Thun decks would be more unique).
so I personally think hearthstone is a great game, this has nothing to do with how much I enjoy it right now, and in fact how much I enjoy hearthstone has nothing to do with the state of the game. A week or so ago I did not enjoy hearthstone, so I played very little, as of last saturday though I suddenly got really interested again. But I started playing with some new ideas I had had for weird decks then, and when I run out of ideas in a month or so I will stop playing for a week or two except for the quests which I will try to complete as quickly as possible with terrible decks like every murloc I have for murloc quests and stuff like that. Currently I am playing with various corpsetaker decks and paring corpsetaker with other ideas I have used in the past etc. Basically I enjoy trying out new ideas and trying to make something novel. And hearthstone has some of the qualities of my favourite strategy board games, it allows complexity to come through your choices, not through it's mechanics. I super enjoy that and I think that is what makes hearthstone a good game. I think the weakpoint of hearthstone is entirey the players. If everyone shared the joy in new experiences then the ladder would not be so boring, and it would be a more interesting climb. And the more decks that see play the harder it is for any one deck to be strong. People get stuck at low ranks not just because they aren't amazing, or don't have cards, but because at low ranks the meta is not really a factor, the things you encounter are a crazy mixed bag and so climbing is less consistent.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
I tried to play Hearthstone in a "halfway competitive" way for a very long time(as in, got legend a couple of times, and generally tried to improve my understanding of the decks and the meta). I eventually came to the conclusion that Hearthstone is a terrible game to be played that way. If you truely want to have the best HS experience possible, you should treat it for what it is, a casual game that was never meant to be competitive in the first place.
If you want to play online games for the competition, there are several games out there for you. Hearthstone is NOT a good choice for that, even if a significant proportion of the community likes to pretend otherwise.

Agreed - if you don't know about sunk costs/economics, you probably should invest in some classes to improve your HS game. I am guessing Shadowreaper_Paul has a hard time playing around a doomsayer and corruption
It's addicting, has the biggest community in online card games, has great UI and awesome (in some cases even funny) characters from the Warcraft universe.
- I don't play it for the strategic part of the game, if I wanted something like that I'd be playing Chess instead. (which I also do) :P

I hope this is a joke post... Ben Brode doesn't even have anything to do with the cards being designed... :P

...asks the one whom spends most of the time in the salt forum or calling people "retards" or "get fuked, cancer". SMH
I enjoy.
I like all the flashing lights and sounds

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

KaptainTrips, I'm not blaming anyone for their negative comments, I said that because I want some perspective

The Roshambo to Hearthstone. Please be nice. Don't insult or be mad at someone for throwing Rock.
Are you french speaking fdp ?
There is no cancer deck in hearthstone ! You are the Cancer !
