I wonder if Blizzard will change anything in the rotation since they will no longer release adventure sets with 50 cards. If they rotate as much as they are planning, I think standard will not have enough cards to play with. Also, as it is, the last set of each year will have only a little more than a year in the format. My guess is that they should leave at least the last set of the prior year out of the rotation cycle.
They should rotate Gadgetzan out in 2018. I don't know if they will release another expansion this year, Frozen Throne is too recent and it fells like it will take longer for them to finish another full expansion. So, after gadgetzan, they may slow down the rotation schedule or alternate between rotating 2 or 3 sets to give new sets enough time in standard.
That is if they care about the players at all, they could just rotate as fast as they can to get more money and test our good will towards tehm.
Evidence suggests Ice Block is being rotated to the Hall of Fame. Other than that, Whispers of the Old Gods, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan and One Night in Karazhan are leaving Standard come 2018. We will see another expansion before this happens, in December. The rotation will not happen until the expansion after that around April.
Keep in mind that from Un'goro on expansions are now following the larger set guidelines, to compensate for the lack of Adventures. That's why each set from this current year has had two class Legendaries a-piece, and more cards in general.

I can't remember if they rotate League of Explorers and Grand Tournament in the same year or just LoE.
if the order is correct so the next set to be rotated should be Whisper of the Old Gods isn't it ?
those set below is from current playable on Standard mode
Whisper of the Old Gods One Night in Karazhan Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Journey to Un'Goro Knights of the Frozen Throne
The expansions of that entire year will be rotated out come the first expansion of 2018. So at that time, WotOG, ONK, and MSG will rotate out together as a group. They won't rotate out one expansion at a time.

Thank you Tom
now my plan to craft Y'shaarj (absolutely of big priest) and Patches the pirate will hold until the new expansion arrived !

There is going to be another set this year. Likely at the very end, like Gadgetzan. This stuff's already been announced. =P
As for the rotation, Magic the Gathering's been doing the same thing for a while. If I recall they used to have 3-set "blocks" (grouping of plot-related or thematically-related sets) and a Standard rotation would feature two blocks, plus the most recent "Core" set. So 7 sets. But some of those sets were small, usually the middle one of a block. For the moment they're doing 2-set blocks, and when they dropped Core sets and made it so it was still only 2 blocks per rotation, there were only 4 sets in rotation at a time and everyone hated it. As far as I know, the recent switch to 3 blocks per set, for the original 6 sets per rotation, has gone over just fine.
Magic the Gathering's been going a long time, so their precedent matters a lot. Their sets are bigger than Hearthstone's are -- 150-180 is a low count for a set -- but they have bigger decks and reprint cards from older sets. It's also much more complex.
I imagine the beginning of the rotation, when only 4 sets are in Standard, will be a bit rough. But when the other sets of the year comes out we'll have 5+. Remember that pre-TFT we only had 4, and now we only have 5. I think it'll be fine. The beginning of a rotation is always jarring though. xP
Well I guess with the Classic set that's +1 to all the numbers actually. xP
I don't really understand how you come to the conclusion that less cards will be available come the next rotation.
Blizzard basically replaced the adventures with full expansions. So from now on, they will release a full expansion every 4 months. So if anything, we will have more cards to play with when the next rotation happens than was the case with Un'Goro.
Next rotation will be Old Gods, Karazhan and Gadgetzan. So we will be able to play with cards from basic, classic, Un'Goro, Frozen Throne and the 2 next expansions, which will be full expansions by the way, whereas with the last rotation, we had access to basic, classic, Old Gods, Karazhan, Gadgetzan and Un'goro, which has one adventure in there, so less cards.
To summarize others as it's pretty much been answered and thus get this all in one place:
Each year 3 expansions are released. We currently have 2 (Goro and Knights) and will have one more at around November.
Each rotation happens when the first expansion of the year releases, typically in Spring. Rotations will knock out the 3 expansions from 2 years prior.
Thus coming up in November we'll get an expansion, then in Spring we'll lose Old Gods, Kharazan, and Gadgetzan. This will leave us with Goro, Knights, The November expansion, and the Spring 2018 expansion.
Sidenote: this means we will always have 4-6 expansions active at any one time, along with classic/basic in Standard.
I'm more concerned with Hall of Fame. Hopefully, Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Alextrasza will go, too
why do you want them to be gone
They are as annoying as Ice Block to me.
HoF isn't about removing annoying things. It's about removing cards that form decks which never seem to go away.
I can see Auctioneer attached to that, but not really sure about why we would remove Alex given that decks that use her would be dealt with via Ice Block's moving.

I didn't say that the cards should leave the game. I wanted them to go to the HoF.

And he was saying that your reason for thinking things should go into the Hall of Fame is very different than Blizzard's, so as to let you know that it probably won't happen. =P
Getting rid of the mistake that was Gadgetzan can't come soon enough.
I really wish they'd just nerf the jade statues to cap at a certain level, like 5/5 or something. There is almost no additional cost built into the cards that create the jade statues, which makes those cards absurd late game as you're paying as little as 1 mana for huge minions. Even at its worst a card like Jade Spirit is 3/4 worth of stats for 4 mana. Yeah, it stinks if it's your first jade card of the game, but most of the time it's the second or third, so you're getting 4/5 or 5/6 worth of stats for 4 mana which is at worst average (if 4/5) or a bargain (at 5/6) and it just gets better from there. At least if they capped jade statues at 5/5 you'd still get the mid-game above curve action, but late game you won't just continually have minions that are cheaper and bigger than anything your opponent can be doing.

Honestly...yeah. The unlimited potential of Jades is incredible, and it's weird/concerning that Blizzard didn't think through how out-of-hand they could become. Neither of the other "houses" can come remotely close to their level of value.
