Yea I tried it in a few variations but couldn't really make it work. I asked my friend who is a true shaman player and he said he had had some luck but no consistent build he could find
OK, so I don't have Moorabi, but I would like to express my opinion. So some people compare him to Lyra the Sunshard, because it transforms those reactive cards into proactive ones. However, I think, that Moorabi is miles away from Lyra and here's why:
- The cards, which are being used, aren't the same. While priest can cycle every kind of a spell card (from the cheapest to the most expensive one), Moorabi requires you to play specific ones - which freeze something. So Lyra is more flexible. - Their cost and stat distribution. Lyra is a 5 mana 3/5 elemental*, which can be combo-ed easily with cheap spells, especially if you add radiant elemental to the equation. Moorabi on the other hand has the same stat summary, but costs 1 more and there aren't any ways to cheat out those cards. I only see glacial shard and the 5 mana taunt minion as the only good freeze cards, which the shaman class posseses. The 1 mana spell, the freeze buff or the other freeze neutral minions are either not impactful enough or will slow you down (the 3 mana 4/4, which freezes all friendly minions). So why would you use something like that, which you can combo out pretty hard? - This leads to another point: Lyra can be used in many priest decks, sometimes even as a win-condition, whereas Moorabi has a narrowed down usage (only playable in a single deck-type). - Probably the last important thing to mention, is that Lyra benefits from casting spells, while with Moorabi you not only have to find freeze cards, but also a board, which you can use him on. Because his effect only gives you more cards, when a minion is being frozen, if you face a spell centered deck or your opponent starts to use weapons, you can freeze them all you want, the cards in your hand remain useless, even if you have the legendary.
Note* Not so important, but still something. With the elemental tag you can find even more Lyras with Servant or you can adctivate other elementals. And that freeze effects don't work on Moorabi.
I'm thinking about freeze shaman but when you have volcano, hex, lightning storm and other, in my opinion better, removal cards there is no need to play freeze shaman (and Moorabi is shit)
I've been testing Freeze Shaman, i have maybe 4 or 5 builds and the first thing you will notice is that you can't build a deck that focus on the freeze mechanic,, you need a main strategy. This is the deck i'm using right now yeah i made some changes but its almost the sam and its really good imo. I mean its not broken or anything but its pretty fun and the best part... playable... It's not that easy to play, sometimes happens that my turn ends before i can make a play
I have been in the lab working on this deck. Trying to get a list that can hit around 50% win rate for a video. Its really tough but there are some nice interactions. Its unfortunate that Moorabi is still the worst card in a freeze deck because its unplayable on curve.
Mana Tide Totem being the only viable true draw for Shaman in Standard right now REALLY hurts any chance for slower lists to work. The key issue with most of these psuedo-draw cards like Moorabi, Servant of Kalimos, and Spirit Echo is that their payoff requires a very rigid list or a very unlikely board state for them to function properly. Freeze, Elemental, and Spirit Echo/Deathrattle packages have a very high chance of working in the future, but only once Shamans have access to the card draw they need to make their game plan more flexible.
Freeze Shaman as its own archetype won't work, but it doesn't need to. It's intended to be a package that you slot into Control decks that simultaneously stalls your opponent and reloads your hand with Moorabi in the late game. I'm personally of the opinion that the concept itself is fully realized, but Control Shaman is not. It's a shame Azure Drake's rotation hurt Shaman the most by far.

I was wondering if Freeze Shaman is a thing. Have not seen a single deck attempt at it and was wondering if it is viable lol
Why not make a freeze shaman deck and try that out for yourself? You might find something nobody else has!
Yea.... I wonder if a shaman in a tempo shell will work. lol Might give it a try.

Of course it works. Don't you see it flooding on ladder ?

Why use combo and face damage as removal when you can hex, or lava burst?
Why stall the board when you can clear it?
Why use slow combo to copy when you can just draw your cards?
Current freeze package does too little and requires combo while other class cards don't.
Hopefully, with more cards in the future, it will become more consistent.
Everything what RavenSunHP said.

If anyone wants to test this deck you can also play -2Stonhill Defender and add +2Far Sight (This card is insane if you can pull moorabi)

This kind of works but there's better Nzoth decks without Moorabi
edit: there's an Aya missing here take something out for it
