I know it sounds stupid (and probably is) but I'm literally living at the edge. The issue is the following:
I stopped playing Hearthstone around a week after Un'Goro came out because I didn't want to play in this meta full of quest rogue and pirate warrior stuff. Therefore I am still missing a lot of legendaries and epics. Like 2 days ago, I started playing again and had a little bit of fun (guess only because Hearthstone and Clash of Clans are the only games I have and am playing right now). Blizzard just released a not too bad bundle that I could actually buy but the problem is that the neyt expansion will be released within 1-2 months and 100 bucks is quiet a lot of money to spend. I would be able to spend that money but it kinda hurts me to think about it right now.
This is why I need you guys. Should I keep playing Hearthstone and buy those packs for 100 dollars (and yes I have to if I want to enjoy this game) or should I just chill and forget about everything related to Hearthstone?
I am one of those guys who need to play a variety of decks that is not aggro related as it feels dirty and disgusting otherwise without any fun.
These types of questions are hard to give advice on without knowing your specific situation in regards to expendable income etc. If you really enjoy the game I would say go ahead and spend the cash. Personally I spend $50 on the preorder per expansion, it was less in the past because of the adventures but those are gone now. So basically It's $150 or so per year on the game. For me this is worth the money I put into the game without question. I play the game probably 1-2 hours almost everyday so the value per dollar is very high and I love the game. Without missing a quest and re-rolling the low gold quests I am able to play most competitive decks. I disenchant cards that aren't good in the meta to help make the decks I want to play.
Bottom line is $100 is a lot of money to most people. If it is set aside for your entertainment budget, not going to impact your day to day life negatively, and you enjoy the game enough I would say go for it. The $100 should get you enough cards/dust to make at least a couple viable decks. If you spend the hundred now and start saving up your gold you should probably have around 3000 gold to buy 30 packs with when the next expansion drops.
Can you afford to re-spend some money down the road of the next expansion ?
If yes, I would do it.
If not I would wait until we get the new expansion (You can play wild if need to) Every expansion has a cheap and accessible deck for all players. Example:
old got had C'thun decks
Karazhan had dragon priest
MSG had Pirate warrior and jade druide
Un Goro had midrange hunter, silence priest cheap as dirt and quest rogue and quest warrior only a little more expensive
If you buy a bundle now you will probably have enough cards and dust to craft one or two good deck. But it will mean using the dust to craft one or two legendary.
If you cannot afford to spend more money when the next expansion release I would probably just wait and use the same amount to pre-purchase pack and buy one bundle after release. With the new "can't get double legendary" while opening packs you will probably get same amount of dust/cards than with the current promotion.
My best advice, anyway around, would be that your motivation to play has to be intrinsic: it must come from within. Just keep in mind, no matter if its money and or time, any game is an investment and the outcome is simply being having a good time, the rest is conditions and circumstances. Try to remember what brought you to HS in first place, to invest into it and what made you stay this long : if the portrait is still satisfying, in agreement with your life and decisions and so on ... I guess I'm only completing the circle and reminding you that external motivation can't keep you 'entertained' and 'having fun' - which defeats the purpose of gaming in first place.
Good introspection and catch you on the ladder, maybe :)
If you are sure you need to spend so much just to keep playing and MAYBE have fun, then i think it's better if you invest your money elsewhere in something more practical.
I am talking as f2p, and i know people spend hundreds on this game.
But unless you don't navigate on dollars, it's not worth it.
Never spend money on games that you need for actual living. If playing HS would make you consider that, don't play it because it doesn't sound healthy for you.
True. Stop playing. Hearthstone is not the best card game (tho it's rated the best) because;
The game has been made such that you cannot have much fun without paying (especially in your case). I have been an f2p (free to play) player for the past 2-3 years (when the naxx expansion was live) and i have noticed that in the total cards that are released, more than half are cards that cannot be used on the ladder therefore you need to buy more pack to either hope for the cards you need or to disenchant bad legs and stuff so you can have a decent deck. And its not like the cards in hearthstone are awesome too...smh. In this card game shadowverse, Twilight Summoner is a common card there, and it has a lot of destroy cards WHICH ARE BASIC.
Hearthstone is where it is because of world of warcraft it is not a great card game by itself. In shadowverse you get 50 cards pack (each containing 8 cards) when you start the game, and the chances of getting a legendary is about 40%. but in hearthstone, you can open about 50 packs and get 0-3 legendaries. Also if you are an f2p and you want to play competitively you are forced to play everyday so you don't miss that quest, binding you to the game like there is nothing in your life you have to do. At the point in have gotten in hs it makes it difficult for me to quit because am at rank 3 currently and i have almost all the good legendaries in the game (because i was forced to disenchant all my wild and hall of fame cards.
Ohh i just remember one more thing that make hs terrible, the reset in ranks at THE END OF EVERY $#&^iING MONTH. And lets not forget the part where you can twink rank 20 because very good and unpredictable deck are there that you cannot use one deck to rank up from there unless you are lucky.
If you are far in the game, please just quit.
Please check out my expansion. One of the few joys i get from hearthstone is designing those cards, i have more ideas but i thought i should start cool, i was wrong, vote so i can move on to create cards you will never imaging.
Well, if you're living on the edge, never spent real money. However, 50 should be enough for 2-3 decks if you really want to spend money. Due to the fact that there are a lot of possibilities to substitute certain cards in certain decks. Aggro decks (though I am not saying that I like them) are the cheapest and easiest decks in general.
Kinda hard to give advice without knowing all imortant aspects, like skill level, cards, how much can you dissenchant? I would say its worth it if you want to spend alot of time in the game. It depends how much this game means to you. You can always learn to improve arena and play that some days if you dont want to craft/ spend money.
Chill it out for a few months, let some expansions pass, one, two, or maybe three. Just put it on pause, do your dailies with some fun and wacky decks to gather gold, and then get back, buy some packs, craft what you like and play decks you like, no need to throw it all in the water, just try enjoying it more by playing it less.
"Is there anything worth more of having those $100 invested in at this moment in your life? Something that you might want more than playing Hearthstone? Something you need to save cash for to get?"
If all these answers are NO then happily re-join HS. Or do it as f2p.

Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!

Hope this helps!
If you use it on brain upgrade like Cerebrolysin then you will automatically play HEARTHSTONE-HS
and HS will become 100% ftp-free to play.
HS is definitely worth 100$ with bundle packs id just do it.

"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"HS is not worth 100$, no matter the offer.

Alternatively you can just do dailies and play some arena, slowly building your collection for free.
As for spending anything on hearthstone in its current state, i'd say no.
