I'm playing Finja Pally right now (A deck I've titled So you Finja can Dance), and this situation keeps coming up vs priest.
Turn 1: Northshire Cleric My Turn 1: Doomsayer
On turn 2, the priest has the option to attack the Doomsayer, and then heal it to draw a card; however, I keep seeing priests hit my face for 1, heal themselves for 0 for flair, and pass turn.
Currently rank 10, but I've noticed this same mistake between ranks 5-4.
I don't understand what you guys are talking about.
@OP, how is not hitting your face the ONLY viable option? Doomsayer has 0 attack. Northshire Cleric CANNOT get hurt even if it attacked Doomsayer, so there is no question of healing it and drawing a card. And why would anyone attack Doomsayer when they know they can't kill it. Might as well get 1 face damage out of Northshire Cleric.
Am I missing something here? coz OP and the next comment don't make any sense.

I see a number of misplays here.
First error.. Against Priest you should NEVER coin out your Doomsayer, take that 1 damage and see if you can make your opponent cast Shield or Whelp or something else in his/her turn 2, then drop Doomsayer.
No matter if you do it turn 1 or 2, then yes, they should attack into your DS and heal it for card draw.
Sounds like just a bad priest player in general. Shouldn't be playing cleric on turn 1 in the first place. Missing the draw is a second misplay.
What? In what way is that bad? Dragon Priest loses the long game versus Paladin, and against aggressive Paladins you want board presence. Since the release of MSoG, a turn 1 Cleric went from being terrible to one of the best turn 1 plays you can make as Dragon Priest. Especially if you have the SW: Pain in hand to answer coin Doomsayer. Plus, Paladin generally has no turn 2 play, so if the play is hero power/pass, then you get the free draw on turn 2 anyway. Really don't see how a turn 1 Cleric is bad against any deck that exists in the current meta EXCEPT for any Warrior deck, that's the only time when I feel turn 1 Cleric is a bad play.

zoo is starting to rise again so flame imp is a bad time to play cleric. shaman probably not worth it either most of the time, cant play it into trogg because it will be followed by a jade claws, lightning bolt or totem golem. best case scenario is they get a searing or healing totem on 2 that you attack into, but honestly, how often does shaman not have perfect opening?

And this is why it happens. A lot of people either don't realize you can heal your opponent or they don't yearize healing your opponent draws a card.
Kazekage, I am glad you learned something from my post! I hope you don't use this knowledge to beat me on the ladder :P
And to reply to those saying I shouldn't coin out doomsayer, you're right! Actually it was turn 2 I was playing doomsayer on curve, so I could cast Solemn Vigil turn 3 for 3 mana.

Misplays. The only time you really don't want to draw as priest is in control warrior and reno mage match since those will go to fatigue

Kazekage... Well, you can attack doomsayer for 1 damage, then heal doomsayer and draw a card.
1 card draw > 1 face damage on your opponent.
But a question for OP: Why would you coin out a doomsayer against a priest on turn 1? Ever?
Against Priest you should NEVER coin out your Doomsayer, take that 1 damage and see if you can make your opponent cast Shield or Whelp or something else in his/her turn 2, then drop Doomsayer.
OMG, I am ashamed...
Never realized hitting and healing doomsayer :P Yes, that is the most logical thing to do :)
I play paladin with double doomsayer and that situation comes often. Half the priests I face just don't know about this.
Other thing with the cleric : the healing totem can be a huge card draw mechanic
There is no cancer deck in hearthstone ! You are the Cancer !
Sounds like just a bad priest player in general. Shouldn't be playing cleric on turn 1 in the first place. Missing the draw is a second misplay.
Achieved Gold Priest- April 2017
Cleric on one is the correct play vs every class.
