The mechanic of playing the other players hand is dumb to me and i card game supposed to be competitive
how are people suppose to be able to think about their plays when it can just be ruined any moment... This sort of card just ruins the game for me... I at this point just wish i could sell my account because this game is only going downwards
Its called counter play so shut the hell up because there isn't enough in the game. This isn't solitaire, if you want that you can play some more aggro and freeze mage.
Blizzard has explicitly stated they will not remove cards. Dirty Rat is good because it destroys strategies at the risk of summoning a large and powerful minion. It kills combos as well.
I love combo decks, my favourite rogue and shaman decks are Malygos OTK decks and dirty rat can really fuck those decks over.
But that is quite irrelevent since I don't ever see it in 90% of my games, and when he gets a high cost minon, he usually can't even kill it on the same turn! Have you ever had Dirty Rat pull Tirion Fordring turn 2? or Ysera? or Flamewreathed faceless? Even if it just pulls out a Yeti, it gives your opponent more value.
The cards is tech, but it's far from great, and considering all the cards in the game right now that could warrant a nerf (Mad scientist, Mech Warper, Twin Emps, Dr. Boom, Mysterious Challenger, Piloted Shredder and more), Dirty Rat is not even a factor!
I kind of agree that's it's a ridiculous card. Blizzard did do a good job of keeping RNG away from strong cards in the last few expansions, dirty rat however is a step in the wrong direction. I don't mind the mechanic, but too put it on such a cheap minion does bother me.
I'll use Mayor Noggenfogger as an example, it's an RNG card, but it's costed and statted in a way that makes it bad, you can still put it in "fun" decks, but it'll never see play in top decks, dirty rat should be the same.
That being said, it does create some funny moments when idiots think coining it on turn 1 is a good idea.
I don't agree with your argument and your tones are foul... get some manners
all this card is doing is destroying combo decks based on minions without any way to "counter play" it is an instant lose card and i don't believe no 2 mana card should be an instant lose... obviously he can pull something big out, but who plays anything big in a meta this aggressive? it is just not a viable "counter play"
so as i see it either play curve or play a grinder control type deck without many if any big minions in your deck and i don't believe this is a healthy state of the game to make combo unplayable which is what a dirty rat does...

You're DEFINITELY a new player if this is what you call a good argument for altering the game state, and definitely a moron. We've had Ancestor's Call in the game for the longest time.
Keep up.
Besides, Dirty Rat helps further bring to the table something we've been needing for the longest time: Anti-Battlecry cards. Also, we have Deathlord. Your only argument is "Fuck the game up for other people because I don't understand how strategy works." Cards like this were invented because of players like you, by the way. Just a note. It's meant to counter people big time. It's also meant to punish people if the play is poorly timed, and cards like this are good for the game. Threads like this? Bad, absolute garbage. Seriously.
You are right, dirty rat hardly has any punishes because the meta is so aggressive. The real problem is the aggro and not the rat. It it had more risk then less people would play it and it would be a good tech against Reno and combo but not a shutdown for all control decks
Let's see... Magic The Gathering CCG have been around for more than 20 years. A game where you can discard (not put into play) cards from your opponent's hand, and a game where you can destroy an opponents ressources (mana crystals).. So 20+ years of succes is dumb game mechanics?
Well said.
I originally hated Dirty Rat, but have also been on the winning side of it. Sure, it sucks that now we have cards that do this and it's a new HS mechanic (aside from Deathlord, which had similar effect), but just play around it. Expect it from Reno decks and mulligan accordingly. Put Brann-Dirty Rat-Mind Control Tech in your decks!

Like I said to OP here, we've had Ancestor's Call and Deathlord for ages now. This is nothing new, at all, period, the end. The fact that people are taking to having an issue with a card like this, just hilarious. It can both win and lose games for people. Hell, I don't mind losing when I actually coin it out on turn 1, because I like taking a chance. It's not a "step in the wrong direction" because reward and risk go hand in hand with many games. If you don't play like you mean to win, you'll always lose.
MSoG is a return to the Naxx/GvG days. Dirty Rat is a return to Deathlord, Dragonfire Potion is a return to Lightbomb. This is a really great expansion. Sure, there are balance issues. But honestly, there's nothing wrong with the card.
I am not a new player... been playing this game since the game first become live and iv gotten legend 3 times... iv played alot of maly shaman so i know the mechanic isnt new... but there is a key difference
Ancestor's Call pulled a card out for both players hand out at random and was a spell for double the price, and on top of that also a class card
and deathlord is also very different the fact that battlecry is instant and deathrattle is not is a key difference and makes the card less accountable
the card is pretty much played in every reno deck... also some ebola control decks and it ruins a whole archetype i think it needs to go
OP appears to have gotten lost on his way to the salt thread. Dirty Rat is a fantastic card. Risk and reward are balanced, decent sized taunt in a pinch.
I'm trying very hard to not dismiss this as another "wahh this card is good and I'm tired of losing to it" thread, so I'll take what you say with a grain of salt. It's hard though, I've gotta be honest.
Dirty Rat is by no means a broken or unfair card. You're getting a ridiculous statline for the cost, and you're taking a risk by playing it giving your opponent free tempo. I've pulled Reno out of decks and still lost the game. If you're good, you can play around a disrupted plan. Even if you get board wiped after the Dirty Rat, it doesn't make your game unwinnable. Inconvenient sure, but not over.
If the premise of your argument is that Dirty Rat is disrupting your plans, I guess that means you aren't planning far enough ahead.
telling me that i need to plan my game better vs dirty rat is pretty confusing to me... only way to play around it is to be lucky with rng or play your minion yourself before you really want to... i dont understand how this could be any type of good argument but as you said in the very end gitgud... just another troll with half a mind

1. This is an important tool for dealing with Aggro. Without cards, options like this, Hearthstone would be purely an aggro game, and if that's the case, they wouldn't attempt printing cards that are good or interesting. That's a completely braindead thing to want your game to become.
2. The card fits the theme. This is a gang themed expansion. Dirty Rat "rats on" a minion in the opponent's hand. This card fits both the theme and the function that such a card is meant to fit.
3. This expansion is a return to Naxx/GvG. You could say the devs are "going back to their roots". They saw that that era of the game worked out pretty nicely, really had players engaged in something interesting. New players didn't get that experience. With Dirty Rat being a return to DL/AC, Dragonfire Potion bringing Lightbomb back in a similar way, Rat Pack serving as Haunted Creeper, there's no reason to completely remove fun, interesting, and important cards, just because the THREE TIME LEGEND PLAYER is bothered by it.
Makes one wonder why you even bother, Coochie Boy.

Kazakus and Dirty Rat are the most original cards of the whole Msog set and you want Dirty Rat get removed from the game really ?
