Long story short since I don't feel like going in depth again:
1. Team 5 consists of 5 people, not the full worth of several hundreds of people who are part of making a AAA-title such as Overwatch. This was Blizzard's experiment to use the resources of Blizzard but only a small team of 5 to make a game. This comparison is dumb and makes no sense as a direct result.
2. Its a cardgame. There's a huge difference from making a card cost 2 mana instead of 1 mana but there's not so much difference were you to change a gun from dealing 45 damage to 40, of course its noticeable when playing but the difference is not outlandishly ridiculus as it would be in any cardgame.
3. Hearthstone IS a lot of folks first step into the world of cardgames so there is merit to the reason of 'it would be too confusing for new players'. Combine this with the fact that the team is so small priorities have to be made and for anyone who were paying any attention when the change came... where did the 'basic' decks go? That's right, those are our extra deck slots - they did in fact have to reprogram a significant amount to make us have access to it most likely. 2 years worth? Probably not. For 5 people who have to playtest, make prototypes, create cards for roughly 2 expansions and 1 adventure a year, PvE encounters, tavern brawls, read (yes, the devs do read even tho' they don't have the same resources to respond) feedback... something as minor but still significant time investment as changing how the basic decks essentially work... yah'.
4. Unless you wanted to remove RNG from the game and add a lot more rules and mechanics such as instant-speed effects... yah', RNG is gonna be around in Hearthstone. For good reasons. As this is, going back to the balancing 'issue', the only way to make these small numbers appear. You could very easily play around Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and for anyone who wishes to debate me on this point I will refer you to Brian Kibler - he's played around it, I have played around it, good players can play around it - bad players claim its impossible, intelligent people say that its better now that Blizzard have cemented its position as a Johnny card even tho' it was fine before. RNG will exist in all cardgames, Hearthstone more so.
5. Purify. Ben Brode talked about Purify and just a few days earlier they had spoken that they had for some time been looking at balancing arena by improving the chance of drawing some cards removing others and so on and so on. How did folks react? Like they hadn't watched the video and claiming how Blizzard (not Team 5, which is a HUGE difference about what message you are sending) had failed in creating a card to such a degree that they had to remove it from the arena, even tho' they had planned to not have it in it in the first place so folks could play around with new cards that were primarily fun. Team 5 DO communicate... but folks are too dumb/shortsighted/interested-in-memes-that-their-brains-have-rotten-and-cannot-think-anymore that folks ignore that. Could they do a better job? Yes, but everyone could do a better job at something... how about folks start by actually doing a better job listening to the things they say in the first place?
All in all...
Hearthstone is in a good position. And changing out the development team for it would be... dumb, pointless, moronic, idiotic and an insane proposition as it wouldn't do anything good for the game. Adding to it sure, as it only started with 5 people as an experiment and now with its success it could warrent more people ... but not 'different' people.
im PRETTY SURE they planned for purify to be in arena.
This. Does that ArgentumEmperio guy seriously think that Purify wasn't removed from arena solely because of all the complaints? Without a huge number of people vocalizing how destabilizing that card was it would've definitely stayed in Arena and Ben Brode wouldn't have said a thing.
They did a similar thing with Firelands Portal being common instead of epic. Team5 does plenty of fuckups like these. "even tho' they had planned to not have it in it in the first place" is just bs.
Did someone order a shorter quote? *Chop chop* there you go

Does this Falbrogna guy seriously think that Blizzard came up with that solution for Arena balance in that time span? It's known they had known the problem existed for a long time and had been thinking about the possible solutions. So are you saying that they didn't actually know anything about Arena balance's problems prior to Purify, or that they hadn't thought of this exact solution before it but suddendly realized it after Purity complaints?
About Firelands Portal, there are no class epics in Kara. I agree that it should've been the rare instead of the Book.

I'm saying that they sat on their lazy asses like they usually do, only this time the complaints amongst both community and pro streamers were so frigging high that they had to wake up and do "something". That something being this hotfix where the problematic cards wouldn't appear in arena. If they really had thought about doing this beforehand... why didn't they? Why plague the arena with Purify for a while and only after the uproar remove it?
It was clearly a last minute hotfix in response to all the anger, certainly not a planned move that would've happened regardless.
What's missing is good early game tools for control decks. Here's a tip, Team 5: 3/2 Taunt is garbage. 2/3 Taunt is garbage. 4 mana heal 12 is garbage. Dirty Rat as a 2-drop is garbage.
Ancient Watcher should have been given taunt.
The worst thing is that those guys probably suck at the game so much, that they didn't even realize, that Dirty Rat is a highly aggressive minion. I know why it has 2 mana cost - 2/6 taunt with a DRAWBACK of pulling opponent's minion for free. I don't think that they knew, that it's main purpose will be pulling big cost minions in the late game to insta-remove them.
I think it's the best designed card in the set, because it's both an effective Taunt vs Face aggro and has a relevant, late game effect in control mirrors that require control decks to use redundant win conditions. It's probably the only Taunt minion they've printed since Sludge Belcher and Deathlord that has a meaningful application in control mirrors, where every other Taunt minion is generally a liability. Regardless of whether or not they intended that to be the case I think it's a net positive for the game, RNG aside.
Voted "No" but I have some issues with the current state of HS.
I would like to see less discover cards with extreme array of cards. There is no skill playing around stuff that is discovered by a card like Kabal Courier. Arch-Thief Rafaam is much better design as there are only 3 options. Overall I would prefer to see more "Draw X cards" or "Discover a card with 3 different options" over "Discover random card from the whole standard card pool".
Also please no more overpowered/overstatted low cost minions. And less Curvestone™.
I'd say yes. Been playing since 2013 everyday really, and this time is the first time I really feel no mood to play anymore.
We are in a state where the good decks are simply too dominating, and the "bad" decks (tier 2 and below) are simply too bad. Creating this very polarized meta we are in right now.

I remember the times when only 2 matchups were considered as extremely one sided: freeze mage vs control warrior and handlock vs priest.
Right now we have a lot of one-sided matchups. Maybe not as much as mentioned above but these decks are tier 1 so you can feel like playing rock, paper, scissors on ladder. I mean: Rogue vs pirate warrior, renolock vs rogue. Reno decks vs aggro comes down to having reno turn 6 or not.
It's pretty much the same with tier 2 decks. Try to beat jade druid with control warrior. Try to beat renolock as dragon priest.
Mirror matches depends on luck or opening hand. Opening hand decides aggro mirrors, luck usually decides control mirror.(dirt rat outcome is crucial in reno vs reno).
This meta is better than huntertaker or secret pala ones but i expected much more from this expansion.
I've been solely playing Hearthstone for the last two years, and I thought everything was fine. I then wanted to try something else, so I installed Diablo 3, just for fun. And you know what? It was exactly that. FUN. I didn't get angry or furious or anything else... I was just killing demons, and you now what? At that moment I realized that Hearthstone is in a bad spot. I haven't had that much fun in ages. Unlucky for me, my GF don't like all the clicking from the mouse while playing diablo.. So I'm not allowed to play it anymore :(:(

Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.
Overall no, hearthstone is not in a bad position even though there are some issues. I think the devs have to remember that no matter what, they will never be able to satisfy everyone in this community. Whenever a card starts to become used in a lot of decks because it is a good card, even if it is not OP, people will ask for it to be nerfed to oblivion. Also the most powerful decks will always get played because most players enjoy winning than simply just having fun so no matter what the meta is, the most consistent decks will always become the most popular on ladder. The worst thing the devs can do is start to nerf cards whenever a random player wants a card to be nerfed because they lost to it on ladder, because if this community was in charge of nerfing cards, every non-vanilla card would eventually end up getting hit with a nerf.
I think what is a genuine problem is players feeling frustrated that they are dying in a game and they feel that there was nothing they could do about it. I saw brian Kibler die on turn 4 to a pirate deck and there was literally nothing else he could do without simply just delaying the loss for a turn.
Design team feels like way too broad of a term for me to give a definite answer. If this exclusively includes the card designers in terms of mechanics and what they think should be added to the game, then there are certainly some changes that could be made.
However, I believe one of the biggest issues with Blizzard is that their methods of "testing" cards seem incredibly weak and rather flawed. Too many cards that are absolutely broken sneak by. Players can often suspect that a card is broken, and about 80% of the time it most certainly is. Why don't the game designers and balancers have the same perspective as the majority of players?
Firelands Portal and Babbling Book are some stupid cards to print. Who the hell tested those? I'm tempted to say that there's an internal problem which Blizzard is suffering from that we don't see, but it's hard to say. I just want them to print cards that aren't bad for the game. I don't care if they're good for the game, but if they are, then great.
Don't print broken cards in the first place and you won't have to print even more broken cards to counteract your mistakes!
As for the inherently bad cards such as Purify, I must say that I love the ambition from Blizzard in making this card, but holy shit that was not the way to do it. It's not a balanced card and it never will be. Ben Brode stated that "making Purify a 1-mana spell" would encourage players to use it as a combo tool and not for the intended purpose. To that I say who cares? You printed Power Word: Shield and that card is really friggin good, but it's not problematic by any means. On the other hand, if you are struggling to balance a card with a particular effect, THEN YOU SHOULDN'T PRINT THE CARD AT ALL.
Of course not. A lot of people complaining about something on the internet generally translates to that something being successful, for better or for worse.

I agree with your whole post, no offense, but:
Whenever a card starts to become used in a lot of decks because it is a good card people will ask for it to be nerfed to oblivion. Even if it's not necessary blizzard WILL nerf it to oblivion when it's already way too late. Examples? Here we go:
Warsong commander, Molten Giant, Blade Fury, Force of nature. It was not necessary to obliterate first 3 cards and Force of nature nerf was a consequence of introducing Emperor Thaurissian. Everything happened way too late anyway.
Warsong commander, Molten Giant, Blade Fury, Force of nature. It was not necessary to obliterate first 3 cards and Force of nature nerf was a consequence of introducing Emperor Thaurissian. Everything happened way too late anyway.
Actually, I'm fairly confident that the Force of Nature nerf was related to the fact that it dominated the Druid playstyle. Druid was my first 60 way back in the day, and I can attest that after a while building anything other than a FoN/SR deck was nearly pointless because whatever your deck did, whatever win condition you went for, it wasn't better than FoN/SR.
It's the same reason I support rotating Gadgetzan Auctioneer out for Rogue: it's the only way to play the class now. I try different ideas (see sig) but I do so recognizing that they are inherently inferior to the Miracle builds.
If wanted a game like this, I'd play blackjack against the PC. With a cardpool of so many cards, it's a little sad that the game is reduced to so little. Most of my other matches are more exciting and require thought/strategy, but I will say playing against Miracle Rogue feels equally boring. Either I lose to an insane stealth 12+ attack minion + Leeroy on turn 5, or I win. Does not seem to matter what I get or how I play.
Players can often suspect that a card is broken, and about 80% of the time it most certainly is. Why don't the game designers and balancers have the same perspective as the majority of players?
I suggest you look at the card threads for when new cards are coming out. It's more like the opposite where the players suspect a card is broken 80% of the time and then it never sees play. Still waiting for Devolve to be good lol.

Oh, I completely agree. This is one of the most interesting cards in MSoG (if not THE most insteresting). I've once managed to pull off the impossible with a discounted Brann -> Rat -> Twisting Nether. But the problem is that Team 5 probably made this card by accident :P

Yes, but I tend to look towards what the streamers/youtubers think along with a developed Reddit idea with would evolve overtime. I think they get it right much of the time. But yeah, initially a lot of people will be very wrong about certain cards.
