They'll make better Priest cards in the next set (Yeah sure.)
They say that every time, and they lie every time. So i don't believe him one little bit. They TEASED us the whole expansion with the Priest cards, they didn't revealed one of them during the whole reveal, knowing that we hoped to get something good.
And then they spit in our face with Purify. Sorry Mr. Brode, but i would really like to punch you in the face. I wouldn't do it of course, but I would really really like too, punching all those lies you always told to priests the whole expansion.
WE SHOULD LOOK FORWARD FOR THE PRIEST CARDS... before they released the cards; yes when we do it, we get spit in the face and you laugh even about this. It's simply disgusting.
Personally i do not see the problem with Purify. Throw out an early Eerie Statue or Ancient Watcher and silence it. Or if you dont have silence, taunt it up until you do. Its a deck type that has not been fully explored thus far. The "Wall Priest" as i see it has potentiale to become great.

And what has this to do with Purify. If Priests really want this, they would still use Silence over Purify. Yes, we have already a silence, no card draw, but also lot limited to our board (with the fact that priest doesn't have a board to use Purify on it most of the time)
If this would work (and it doesn't), then people would run Silence with it. Sorry, but this card is so bad that ben brode even take it out from arena to make the winrate of priest no more worse than it already is (and it will already become worse thanks to ONIK). That they create a special rule exactly for this card show how bad this card is.
And here's some one who can't understand between fantasy and reality. In reality i wouldn't do it, but what i do in my fantasy is mine and mine alone. And if i want to punch someone in the face there, i do it.
Or are you also a Psychopath if you kill someone in a game too? Alone in World of Warcraft, you kill millions of people there and still doesn't go to a killing spree in the real world.
Question: Ben Brode said there that they cannot change how often a card appears in the draft beyond its rarity, that they are working on it. So, what about the new adventures and exapnsions cards that have supposedly more chances to appear? Or was that just a theory?
instead of being so salty all the time i like to pretend things went along like this:
1) after introducing standard, nobody (pro or dev) predicted the meta to be what it was after it settled a month or so ago
2) owl was too strong for it's effect, so devs decided to nerf it. in the background, they thought it was a good idea to go ahead and nerf an unreleased card they had already created as well - purify.
3) community discovers priest is not competitive along the same time that karazhan has been already developed and planned for release. just horrible timing. for some reason community thinks that these cards are created/developed/tested just between releases.
pretend that karazhan was released before standard, which is probably when these were being put together. community wasn't complaining about priest back then, so they weren't developing for it. they were still on their mission of making strong shaman cards for the community. the cards are what they are. nobody cares about the 1 mana purify as it doesn't even make it into constructed. the nerfs happen, and purify (like master of disguise) gets nerfed for design reasons, and nobody cares... at all. then standard comes in as usual, and then we find out priest sucks.
i just think it's hilarious that purify is the reason some people are so salty. the card that could have replaced it has to literally be broken to fix priest. yes, they could have added one more helpful card to the class, but then all we'd still have just 'priest still sucks' threads instead of hating on just one card. you could literally make (fix) the card to 0 mana - silence any minion, draw 2 cards, and the ungrateful community will still complain that priest doesn't have a tier 1 deck.
Okay, I watched the video a second time. And one line really pissed me off. While I do appreciate the video's existence and Ben's willingness to speak regarding the state of Priest and Purify, he mentioned this:
"we really misread the community sentiment"
How? How is that even possible? If you scoured this website and Blizzard's own forums it was painfully obvious that Priest supporters were on pins and needles hoping for a boost to the class. Not necessarily a sudden jolt to top tier but at least a return to competitiveness. How could they have missed all the attempts to find that Unicorn Priest Deck? How did they not see all the fan-based cards that were lovingly designed and debated in the hope that one day we might see something similar actually revealed in Karazhan.
How? Same way they missed Warrior when that class was struggling in arena and got Bolster. Note that a similar outcry was done though the turnaround was much slower. Paladin didn't even get a reply back in Naxx when they were struggling and got Avenge as their one class card.
So yeah, it's normal and will probably happen again. Though to give some hope, look at the history of Paladin and Warrior and consider that Priest might be going the same route.
Defending Brode and consort makes your comment really awkward, since this blunder is the direct result of their take on balancing the game. That being said, the majordomo-shuffle is utterly shallow to save face. It's an insult to any intellect. There is no better proof of the need to rotate these gentlemen. Fresh design blood is desperately needed.
Here's something to consider, Brode isn't a card designer anymore. He stopped about a year or so ago to be more of a public face. By my calculations, the last expansion he worked on is Old Gods and he probably had less input on that than typical. Kara would be the first expansion without any of his input.
So Brode was involved mostly when Priest was getting cards like lightbomb and Entomb. Brode was taken out of the process and you get Purify with Brode saying that putting out Purify now was a mistake.
Kind of odd to attack Brode and demand his removal when the biggest problem you have involves something that occurred after his removal. I would think you'd be demanding Brode return to card design so that Priest might have a card more like one of his designs, like Jaraxxus.
You want to physically hurt someone because his team revealed a card you don't like. Seek help dude, you're a psychopath.
Actually you are the psychopath.. Mixing fantasy with reality while not understanding common feeling of frustration and their implications. That's exactly a mark of a psychopath.
Question: Ben Brode said there that they cannot change how often a card appears in the draft beyond its rarity, that they are working on it. So, what about the new adventures and exapnsions cards that have supposedly more chances to appear? Or was that just a theory?
He meant individual cards. It's not the poblem to make entire set of cards being promoted over others, the problem is to make a single common appear less often than other commons or a single rare to appear more often than other rares etc. Single card/=entire set.
^This. The system is made for sets to come in and out. They had originally meant for rarity to handle individual cards. They are basically saying that this failed and they are making a new system.
I'm suspecting that it was Bolster that actaully caused this to happen as this was when Blizzard said that they know there's issues with arena and the way rarities handle card appearance. It takes time to make a completely new system though including developing the rules (They seem to know when a card is good or bad themselves during development, but the trick is how to translate that into an AI). They aren't ready yet and probably wouldn't have mentioned it except because of the whole Purify situation and their solution (otherwise the "purify won't be in arena" would seem out of element).
Good to watch this video, restored some faith. Also interesting to hear they are looking into a more long term arena shake-up that bypasses card rarity. Can't wait for that - we really don't want every arena game to be a battle of the zoos. Maybe they ought to look into Firelands portal and the effect that will have on the arena too, but I guess that is asking too much.
While I am glad for Arena's sake that Priest of the Feast will show up twice as much now, I am still confused why using rarities better, especially in adventures, wouldn't be a solid solution to these self inflicted issues.

I have "explored" this deck. It is fucking awful and wouldn't be better with two extra silences. Priests don't need a two-card, 4 mana 4/5 or a two-card, 6-mana 7/7. They need something to let them actually contest the board, particularly in a token-heavy meta, before turn 4 or 5.
why so much fuss over 1 bad card that priest got and warriors intend to get in every expansion
Because Warrior is the absolute best class with the absolute best evergreen set in the game (5 legitimate ladder decks for one class is unheard of) and Priest is the absolute worst class with the absolute worst evergreen set in the game?

It's actually not a two-Card Combo since Purify is a cantrip. But I agree that purify will most likely not make a silence priest viable.
Kudos to Brode for at least addressing this and doing something about it for arena players. Aside from the tone deafness issue, the other problem I see is that there is so much more they could have easily done. As others have said, it's not like there are 2 million physical copies of this card in packages ready to go out on Thursday. Here are a bunch of easy fixes to this card that they could quite literally waive the wand and implement:
Same cost, but enemy minions can be targeted - You mean priest might have a chance at slowing a Councilman, Berzerker, or Trogg?
1 mana cost, same effect - Probably still would not see play, but at least it's not egregious.
3 mana cost, draw 2 cards - Conditional arcane intellect is kind of interesting and would actually make a curve of T2 Watcher, T3 be able to use watcher + card draw kind of interesting
Just make the card epic so that priest players can dust it and craft another classes' usable cards until the next expansion, or the one after that, or the one after that and we never have to worry about it in arena again
I'm sure there is precedent value to worry about, but if ever there was a time to break glass due to emergency, it's now.

Just watched the video. So basically, Ben just politely said "If you don't like Purify, fuck you."
