So Nax is scheduled to release one wing a week at 700 gold a wing. And i couldnt help but wonder to my self "Can i earn enough gold each week to keep up with the Nax releases and unlock each wing the day of?" So i did some math.
Assuming you get nothing but quests that pay out 40 gold a piece you'll still owe 420 gold. That means means you have to earn the rest the old fashioned way. By earning 10 gold every 3 games. Basic math tells us it will take 30 games to earn 100 gold. that means you need 126 victories. assuming you run a fast paced deck and only fight fast paced decks we can assume a match length of 10 minutes (that and it makes the math SUUUUPER easy). 126x10=1260minutes 1260/60= 21 hours 21/7= 3 hours a day
At first glance 3 hours a day seems like nothing right? Well thats assuming a 100% win rate. No One has 100% So the number of hours it takes scales to your win/loss ratio. If you have a W/L of 50% its going to take twice as long or at least 6 hours a day.
this is also assuming the matches are only 10 minutes. For me matches tend to land between 15-20 minutes occasionally i get a 10 minute one in. that means a person with a W/L of 50% is going to need to spend 6-12 hours a day. to make the gold needed.
Now i know you could in theory win way more in the arena but the random nature of the arena tends to be too random to count on for reliable gold. plus the 150 gold investment is a huge gamble in terms of time investment.
So what do you think? going to try to pay for Nax with all in game gold?

My oppinion is that is not good deal to pay with gold for naxx.If you pay with gold and you get the 1st wing free you will need 2800 gold=28 packs,on the other hand you can buy it with 17.99 euros the cost of 15 packs..i Know there is ppl who dont have or they dont want to spend money in the game, but if you save 1 euro per day you can have it all without playing for so many hours or sacrifice 28 packs for 30 cards...If someone have all the cards allready than the gold is the greatest way :P
Yes, because I saved up all the gold I needed weeks before even the first wing released.

Oh ill probably end up buying nax, if i dont its because im buying more straight packs. Im not saying you SHOULD try to pay for nax with naught but gold. Its more a hypothetical to see if its possible to earn the gold and keep up with the release dates.

It depends on your collection status and how much you have saved before Naxx.
If you already have most rares and epics like me, you should spend gold on Naxx because spending it on packs is not optimal at all. I've tried opening 5 packs last week and I only got duplicates which turned to dust only. It's a waste of resource because with 700 G you could get your hands on 12 brand new cards each week. And they are meta defining cards! If you still have lots of holes in your collection (new player) then it's better to spend gold on packs and buy Naxx with cash to catch up with other players.
Now, if you have decided to buy Naxx with gold and are wondering whether your saving is enough? I would say if you have around 1k2-1k4 saved up now, you should have no problem buying the last wing in the next few weeks. Anything less than that, you either have to wait till you get enough gold or buy the last wing with cash.
If you havent spent any money on the game it's a good time to, spending $20 for 30 new cards? spending the 2800 gold on decks or arena is a way better value, you have to admit this game is worth $20, and buying 28 packs is wayyyyyy better then spending the 2800 gold for 30 cards which half you will barely ever use
I'm going to attempt to buy it all in gold - I tend to do quests daily and binge play Sunday nights. I'm sitting at about 1.5k right now so I don't think it'll be a problem but if I do miss a day or two of quests then I'll end up buying it cash side. At this stage buying packs is a pretty big waste so gold hasn't been spent over the last few weeks.
Already paid for it with cash, didn't regret, stockpiling for next expansions (if they are buyable with preearned gold) and stupid arena ideas. Great thing about naxx: You don't have to play them on releaseday. If you take it a more calm, slowed down way to earn the gold, you won't fall behind for not having "shiny new naxx" cards in your deck. Never ever fall into the trap of feeling forced to play.

I think the basic idea is if you never intend to spend money on this game again, you should buy Naxx with gold. If however, you're likely to spend real money buying packs in the future you're better of buying Naxx with money and buying the packs with gold.
Earning 700 gold per week for consecutive weeks is unrealistic, unless you play 5+ hours per day or are extremely good at arena (tip: if you're just starting out and don't want to spend too much money on HS getting good and enjoying arena is the best way to do it).

I'm so glad there is prejudice against playing hunter/zoo/[insert FotM deck here]. People like that make the life so much easier for those of us who play to win.
I'm going to buy it with gold. I started sparing in advance, now I have 3200ish gold ready to spend. If you win at least 20 games a day you can easily cumulate gold.
Assuming you get nothing but quests that pay out 40 gold a piece you'll still owe 420 gold.
That's actually wrong math, mate. It's 60 gold average per day on the long run. You should count that 10 golds/3 wins into your income. And always drop your 40 gold quest, there is a 40% chance to get one with better gold reward (60 or 100 plus the 10gold/3wins).

Me too. I have 3k gold and about 5k dust and I still paid cash. Let's hope the expansion doesn't introduce 'platinum' currency or whatever.
I am at a time in my life that I cannot commit large periods of time to play video games. (working lots at my job, expecting a baby in two weeks, etc.) I originally was planning on farming the gold for it, but decided to just buy the expansion.
Here are some numbers though! Assuming you never do Arena, and you are screwed over with 40 gold quests everyday. The quests alone will give you 280 gold 40 x 7 = 280 This leaves a missing 420 Gold every week though. This means that you will need to achieve the "Win 3 games in play mode" gold 42 times a week to break 700 This equates completing the "Win 3 games in play mode" six time a day. Assuming you never lose, this would require 18 victories a day.
7(40+60)=700
This is again, assuming you earn in the slowest manner, not accounting for Dominance quests, "Win 7 Games in Any Mode", or Arena runs.

Gratz for the baby!!!all other things are secondary :D
You can stay at rank 20 and play with a good fast deck! the winrate there is 90-95% if you are a good player. That way you can reach the 30 wins needed in 3-4 hours max!
I don't have the time, nor the patience, to be sat here all day grinding for in-game gold. You'd really have to have nothing better to be doing with yourself. Much as I like the game, I don't want to play it ALL day, it must feel like a bad chore to do so. I'll just buy the wings as they come each week, it's not a lot of money, certainly much easier than wasting yourself away at the pc playing 8hrs a day! Unless you're actually making money from playing, like the top streamers, otherwise getting out more will do you a lot more good.
In 7 days I got 740 gold by doing quests (obviously cycling 40g quests) and a lot of casual with zoo while reading or watching tv (2 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours after dinner), so it's possible.
I've been saving gold and am now up to just over 2500 so I'm looking forward to being able to finally get packs again for new cards. My collection is woefully small which can make even doing dailies painful at times. There are nights when I can get a 5 win daily done in an hour and other nights where it takes me three hours for those 5 wins. I did get lucky last Friday and pulled the 100g quest though it took me until Sat to finish it (didn't have a lot of time to play on Friday because of WoW raid going late). I do reroll my 40g win quests but sometimes I end up with another 40g one or a 60g one for two classes I don't like so it can be a bit frustrating. I like to keep the 40g quests that don't require winning since those take a lot less time to finish even though they aren't nearly as efficient for gold generating.
Sure, as a new player I probably would be better off buying the packs instead of saving for Naxx but at least with the Naxx wings I am guaranteed of getting a couple of decent legendaries and some other nice cards whereas in packs I am at the mercy of RNG as to what I end up with. So far the new cards have been fun to work into some of my decks and I like the adventure mode idea in general though I wish there was more reason to replay it.

Farming 700 Gold in 1 Week is hard, but not impossible. 1 1/2 week for 700G are more reliable.
40 per day = 280G
or
60 per day = 420G
so, let's say 3 Quests are 40G and 4 are 60G = 360G
3x2 Wins = 6 Wins = 20 Gold
4x5 Wins = 20 Wins = 70 Gold (21 wins, ok...)
_____________________________________
A total of 450 G only for the Quests and wins from quests.
If you are lucky and have 7 x 60G Quests
7x60 = 420 + 110 = 530
