Same here. I just don't care much anymore. Before this announcement I was accumulating money for the next expansion (basically the main thing that kept me going) but now that I know that even those cards I'm accumulating all this gold for will become useless one year and some time later, what's the point?
I'm spending time and grinding for a collection that cannot be sold or played freely and that will steadily lose value every year and some.
When you dump something down the toilet it disappears while still existing in the sewers. Welcome to Wild mode, "it's not like they took our cards away".
Sure there are people who share how you feel, and the faster you all quit the game, the faster people like me can start to have fun. So what are you waiting for? Leave.
How are those people stopping you from "having fun", exactly? You may wanna take that angst somewhere else, here it's severely misplaced.

The announcement of formats just killed my lust to play this game. I can barely get myself to complete dailies. It's like a depression. I feel like they abandoned a part of their game.
Please tell me I'm not alone in feeling this way. I'm not passing judgement, I will wait and see what the next expansion will bring. But what I am saying is my current interest in this game is dwindling. I feel like it's in a state of moratorium. No point in playing even though I should be saving gold.
So you can play with all the cards now in casual, ranked or arena modes and in Wild you can do the same thing. What's been abandoned?
If they had cycled basic and classic, this would be true. They are not, so those cards will be adjusted for standard.
Is it really that hard to grasp that people want a true legacy mode?
Oh, and people from card games like MTG are dancing in the streets.
Well said! I have a thread blowing up right now about the problematic cards in the game Hearthstone, and one of the most exciting thing about the new format coming is how it is going to K.O. every single problematic card. I think I'll be able to play a thought provoking and complex control deck once the rotations start. In the mean time I'll keep hitting legend with face decks and secret decks. That way I get lots of dust to craft these really cool legendaries that are unplayable in the current meta since you can't spend a whole turn to play a creature that dies to a 3 mana 4/2.
Yeah im really thinking people are overreacting a bit. I mean All the game modes will use all the cards except in standard.
Which is the only balanced and cared for format, while WIld will be a version of both Casual and Brawl combined.
You get why people are reacting badly now?

i Feel like you, for so much time i championed Hearthstone as the only Tcg where you could be competitive being completely f2p if you invested enough time on it, however with rotating formats that statement i championed and praised about Hearthstone becomes obsolete and untrue and i feel that my effort of demonstrating that Hs wasn't a p2w game goes to the clutter because it now becomes pay to access.

Wild would have ended up unbalanced sooner or later. Its ok if you dont like the standard idea and wanted something else done? but u cnt possibly believe wild mode will/would have become unbalanced just because they will focus on standard mode.
As i said sooner or later something had to be done to adress the issue of balancing. As an added bonus with the standard mode u get the potential of a more fresh meta with every expansion/adventure released , easier for new players to compete.
Only downside i see is the limit of the cards u have to choose from and thats not rly a problem as long as there are enough quality options to choose from anyways.
Same here. Just doing dailies once in 2 days and thats all, no interest in the game at all. Been playing Witcher 3 latest expansion and happy about it.
I've noticed a big drop in the quality of opponents recently, that or I'm getting better, but it could have something to do with what your talking about. I think a lot of people are just taking a break to just see what happens.

When I looked up "Ninjas" in Thesaurus.com, it said "Ninja's can't be found" Well played Ninjas, well played.
Do you understand why you should not pass judgement on things you have not even experienced yet?
If it smells like shit and looks like one I don't have to lick it to know it's shit. Blizzard already stated that Wild's balance changes will be "reactive", meaning that so long as some absurdly game-breaking deck comes out they're gonna ignore WIld altogether. All the balancing, focusing, tournaments and general care will go to Standard also.

I think it depends on where you are in the timeline.
OLD players who have been playing since beta are eager for the change. Some are sick of seeing minibots and booms and scientists and want them gone to make room for new cards. They are eager to play standard and leave Wild in a pit to die in. Some of the others are sick of Blizzard softballing with massive nerfs to interesting decks like miracle and patron. Those folks are eager for Wild to be..well.. WIld with completely broken combos (oo bring warsong back and make dreadsteed a Naxx neutral!).
I don't think you should make a blanket statement about old players. I've played since open beta and invested a fair amount of money in this game, being able to craft pretty much any deck I want and I'm not eager for the change. Sure I dislike the cards you listed and wish they'd get pushed out but now some of my most beloved archetypes are screwed out of key pieces (Demonlock, Malygos OTK Shaman). I don't want wild to be this broken playground where my favourite decks can't compete because secret paladin is stupidly strong.
In terms of getting rid of cards we've seen forever, I'm sick of Fiery Win Axe, Armorsmith, Frostbolt, Shield Slam, Execute, Force of Nature, Savage Roar, Truesilver Champion, Northshire Cleric, Consecration, Unleash the Hounds, Sylvanas, Tirion Fordring, etc. None of these cards are being removed. Sure some of them will be changed but most won't be and we'll still see some of the same archetypes for years to come (Standard CW, Freeze Mage, Handlock, Face Hunter) using the same cards they've always been using. If Blizz wanted to make some changes, they should have come up with some new basic cards as well to shake things up entirely (from what I've heard, I think MtG doesn't have basic cards that stay with you). That way you don't get the same boring crap with the few decks that have really good basic cards and constant power rise/fall for other classes that got better with expansions.
I agree, but I also think hearthstone is very new. MTG has always had cards that are remade ins each set, and players are allowed to use the old copies which may have different flavor or art, but the text is the same. Basically the same thing as keeping a certain set of cards in play, but they dont keep as many in and some come back after many seasons of being out. Blizz says it will stay this way but they probably have plans to change it once they have released more cards.
I know how you feel. I just do the dailies, for the most part. I used to be eager to play the game after work as I'd wind down. Now, I sit on my couch and turn on the game... only to shut it off because I don't really feel like playing.
I'm not very interested in the current season so I guess I've lost interest...but for exactly the opposite reason of the OP.
I'm really looking forward to the changes and when I play against decks stuffed full of Booms and Belchers and Shredders and Scientists etc it just annoys me, like please go away already! Looking forward to the new meta....for me meta changes are what keep the game interesting.

You aren't getting the point. In Wild mode you can play with every single card you can play with now and every single game mode you play those cards in now. What have you lost? Nothing.

We lost the possibility to play those cards in a balanced, cared for and controlled environment. Kinda like Ranked is now, kinda like Standard will be, not like Wild will become.

I just don't understand how this change affects most people? Most of us are not competing to go to worlds, so standard being the new tournament style doesn't affect too many people and then with either play mode you can kind of choose, you can try out not using naxx and gvg, and see if that is more fun, or you can go into wild where it is basically what we have been playing, except with another expansion, it seems like a win win. My Only issue has been sinking money into a digital card game and trying to decide if I should go to f2p from here on out, but I have to say I am excited to see the changes to the game

What we've been playing now is a controlled format with attempted balance at cards and combos.
Wild will see zero prevention and care towards bullshit OP combos for all the the new card-making process, and only receive "reactive" balances (as per Blizzard's statement) if something truly broken pops out. Otherwise, they will not care. Standard is where the care will go.
What we're playing now is a format in which Secret Paladin only has two actually good secrets (Avenge and Getdown). What Wild wil become with the new expansions is a format in which eventually Secret Paladin will get 6/6 very good secrets, unlike Ranked and Standard. See the difference now?

Before Standard, people whine about every card that doesn't see competitive Wild play. They ask why to put bad cards into the packs only to lower the chance of getting good cards. However, people don't understand the concept of "good cards". Only a fixed amount of top cards would be deemed good cards, since there're always around 4 Tier-1 decks. So, if Blizzard were to release enough good cards in each set, then they would have to fiercely stir the water, and it's much harder to remain balance when doing so.
And now, with Standard coming out, former "bad cards" can have better worth. They may be bad Wild cards that only see play in Tier-3 decks, but they may see play in Tier-1, Tier-2 Standard decks. So Blizzard can afford to release weaker sets that don't challenge Wild Meta much. If they were under pressure to make 50+ Wild-competitive cards out of a 100-cards set, then they might only need to make about 20 now. And making Dr.7 would playing a lesser part in getting people buying new packs. So balancing Wild would become a much easier task, so even when they spend less effort on it they can achieve better results.
The Wild meta wouldn't shift as drastically as before, that's a reason why it only need "reactive" balances.
The change would mean the game would be more expensive overall. And it would also mean a more stable Wild meta and thus a cheaper Wild game if you only want to stick to a few competitive decks. But it doesn't mean a worse Wild meta.
