Let me start off by saying that this is not a rage post. I don't play Hearthstone every day like I used to but I still like to come on Hearthpwn and browse what people have to say. After taking a look at the decks that topped at recent tournaments I noticed something I probably should have a long time ago.
The neutral minion count is too damn high!
I guess this is a matter of opinion more than fact so I'm not saying there needs to be a change, but what does the rest of the community think?
Personally, I think it's pretty lame. The fact that decks are divided into classes means to me that they have something special to bring to the table. Unfortunately, that "something special" is pretty much their spell cards and how they can support their army of neutral minions. There are going to be some class minions because some are just really good but I feel like the number is too low. The highest number of class minions usually come in Warlock decks because they have 3 different 1 drops for their cheap aggro, but other than that I see the average number of class minions at 3-4.
To be perfectly honest this probably isn't neutral minions' problem so much as it is class minions. I guess class minions are pretty weak right now. Also there aren't many to choose from. I just think it's a little sad that classes aren't showcased through their minions like you'd think they would be. It's a flavor problem more than a balance problem, although it would help in making decks look more different than they do now.
People have been complaining about this for quite some time now. Truth is, there simply aren't enough class minions to build a full deck out of them and still have enough minions. Right now you can play Shaman control without any neutral cards, possibly Druid and Priest as well, but just about every other deck out there has a high level of dependence on them. Hell, Hunter even needs a lot of neutrals to not suck because they only have like 6 class minions (Including Animal Companion).
It's not the fault of any type of minion. The 'problem' here is that the game is still in closed beta, and there are not enough cards out there yet for really dedicated class decks. As the game progresses, more cards will come out, and classes will feel more special. We'll all just have to wait until then, but really, the neutral minions are not overpowered.

It isn't that people aren't playing them because there aren't enough, it's that they aren't as good in comparison. People are faced with the decision to put in minions from their class and neutral minions and they go with the neutral minions because they're simply better.

Uhh, no they're not. Class minions are clearly better than neutral minions in the vast majority of cases.

That isn't true whatsoever. I hate to so blatantly disagree with somebody, but that's just plain wrong.
The only neutral minions that are commonly viewed as premium(so on par with class cards) are SSC, Argent Commander, Argus Defender and Dark Iron Dwarf.
Also there aren't enough class minions to fill out most mana curves comfortably, ergo, more neutral minions.
Personally, I prefer the bulk of minions to be neutral from a balance perspective. Knowing that I also have access to most of the "OP" minions my opponent may be using, even if I'm playing a different class, makes the game seem more fair to me.
I believe this was a good way to start with more neutrals from a design standpoint. This makes the game quite a bit easier to balance class by class. I do agree with Flood and some others that more class minions will benefit all in the end.

This is true thanks maybe we will see like 9 months of class specific card drops every month like 10 cards get released for the class that would be amazing
Remember though the more class minions will cause more balance issues. Those issues will cause more changes and even more flavor of the week deck creation.

Yup. That's how card games work. New cards come out, then everybody makes decks that abuse broken new combos until a new banlist is released. Sounds like literally every other card game ever invented to me, and there's nothing wrong with that, because that's how card games work.
I do think the balance is pretty good right now barring a few exceptions. Most classes have 1-2 minions that will fit into every deck that you make with that class. The rest are used on the basis of the type of deck you are making. The same applies for the neutral minions with exceptions of a few that you pretty much find in almost every deck reguardless of type of deck.

Go ahead fill a lock deck with nothing but class minions and see how well that works.
Yeah it is mostly true there needs to be more class cards I think
