According to HSReplay the Highlander variant is a tier 3 deck. The nerds to Conjurers Call was a huge blow. I think they could have made LPG a 6 mana card instead of going right back to making it unplayable. The secret package is still not great and often not worth playing. Cards that could be like Janailai or Malacrass are either too slow or too expensive. We have no good one drops....no reliable ways to heal, defend, or stack armor...What is a Mage player supposed to do in Standard?
Some class can't always be top tier, highlander mage is just fair right now, and that's why it is only tier 3.
Nerfing unfair card like Conjurer or Pocket Galaxy was a good move, it was so frustrating to lose because your opponent just play Galaxy on turn 5 and then topdeck everything after.
However, I wish they push secret mage in standard, it's frustrating to see good cards not being viable because the overall archetype doesn't have enough tools to compete in this meta
Have you tried making a Mage deck or do you just copy what is out there? Mage is great as it still has a lot of strong cards. Conjurers Calling is still very viable and works.

Tier 3 is fine, why would you say that mage is dead because their best deck is tier 3? You know when a class is dead? When they have less than 1% playability. Pre-Explorers Shaman was dead. Mean Streets Paladin AND Hunter were dead. Karazahn Priest was dead. Mage is just fine.
Mage need only one more good secret to be tier 1, it is sad see so many good cards having nice combinations with secrets but very few secrets to work with.
Expend my horizons!? Mage is my only non Golden Hero,...
Such bad timing on my part. That said Freeze Giant mage from pre Uldum is giving me consistent climb right now and wrecks both warrior variants. Ladder r4+.
I still don't understand why people choose to have "mains" on card games. I can see it being a starting budget kinda choice but staying on one class just seems like a terrible mess waiting to happen, having diversity and more decks to play always seems like a smart choice honestly.
I've held strong just under 58% win rate with the old Highlander Mage.
Take the basic pre-nerf list, remove Luna's Pocket Galaxy and Sandbinder and (if applicable) the Ice Barrier/Counterspell.
Put in Barista, Swamp Ooze, and Spellbreaker. If you already had any of those, put in the six-cost Reborn taunt dude who gives life when he dies (something with a K Defender).

Brian Kibler will play priest in basically any meta because he likes the core concept of priest and what it does. There are probably a lot of people who play zoo in any meta because zoo is almost always present in any meta, Flame Imp practically guarantees that. As long as we have a Classic set, every class will basically have an expectation of what they do, and players might enjoy that.

Ok and can't you like a class and say 'Hey I like this class' and play that class but not completely commit to that one single class?? Or do you like getting rekt if mage gets no good support on an expansion or gets nerfed to the ground? Cause it just happened and you seemed desperate on this post my dude. Igot all the good mage cards and I'm not a mage main... I can play any class cause you don't need to have all the mage cards to play good mage decks. You are just spreading your cheeks and waiting for for Blizzard to fuck you at some point.
Also Kibler stopped being a Priest main long ago, he plays priest here and there but not as much as he did before. He hasprobably played more Hunter, Rogue and Paladin in the last 2 years, priest may be his most played class but he has barely touched it for a long ass time.
Mage was dead in The Last XP, they buffed it (too much imo lpg should be 6 since de beginning). Now it is pretty much dead again, gotta wait the next XP to any mage deck becomes viable (tier 2 ir 1).

Stop being a "Mage player."
Expand your horizons and try something new.
Restricting yourself to a single class is always going to suck when that class's archetypes aren't top-tier.

I see Highlander Mage making a comeback, not this expansion but it will ;)
If you enjoyed Mage post nerfs, I suggest Quest Druid with King Pharois.
Mage is not dead it's just most people don't know how to build a winning deck or they just copy from streamers

Also, the tempo 2x Pyro combo mage does well too.

yeah mage is deaded
Move to Wild. It's alive and cancerously well :)

Because you like a class?

Put your spoiler here.

I've tried a Battlecry Highlander Mage
Cyclone Highlander mage
Big Spell Discount Mage
Hand Mage with Arugal and 3 card draw card
Secret Mage
all inconsistent at Rank 5
I like Mages core concepts but since the nerf I've been running Quest Druid. I'd try other classes but lack the dust. Decks are really expensive l!
No, people still can pilot it to high legend. Cyclone, dragon, reno and secret are still viable. Secret is the weakest imo.
Combo Priest is fine, and it costs less than 4K.
Most Shaman decks are also pretty budget-friendly.
