Sup guys. I joined HS some time after naxxramas and stopped playing around the time Dr.6 was running rampant. Had a sudden interest in the game again and decided to give it another shot. I have generally always been pretty bad at building decks and to be honest I never achieve but i am looking to aim higher and want to finish this season in good standing. I only have 660 dust right now because I didnt know anything about the card rotations and ended up crafting cards that are either already rotated out of soon to be but I do have access to some older cards that are no longer allowed in standard and I dont forsee myself playing wild so that is an option. Anyway, i would greatly appreciate any help with deck building or adapting to the meta. I am currently rank 19.
I generally like combo or tempo decks with rogue being one of my favorite classes and miracle my favorite archetype. I have always liked the idea of playing control but I generally never have the cards and tend to mess up by being overly aggressive but im willing to learn. I have no problem with aggro decks though they tend to get boring if there is no kind of synergy or strategy involved. Midrange is whatever I suppose. I couldnt link it for whatever reason but my current cards are in my profile collection
The best deck I would suggest for you would be the Spiteful Summoner Priest deck since its probably the cheapest meta deck right now (about 4000 dust if you play the version without pirates). Tempo rogue is also a tier 1 deck but has a lot of legendaries. However there are many budget versions of that deck that can still get you quite far (maybe not legend but still far). The other meta decks are either aggro or control. If you want to play control I would suggest the demon control warlock or cubelock (both lists are similar) since they lose barely anything in 3 months. They are both expensive lists but since they stay for so long they are probably a good long term goal to work towards. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply bro. I do like the cubelock list with doomguards, but the other lists are a bit slow for me. I could never see myself playing a deck trying to summon 4 pit lords(the 3-9 thing?) over and over but yea thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: I dont know why I completely ignored the spiteful priest suggestion lol, probably nightmares about the other priests I have faced. I do find that deck to be interesting but for some reason I never seem to play priest long even when I win with it. I always find myself playing priest for a couple games then never coming back to it. Maybe its the hero power or the general passiveness of the class? Maybe if I get more cards and or dust I will try it.
I'd second some of what's been said...if you can afford tempo rogue and like that type of deck..it performs very but I find the tempo plays can be a bit boring but that's just me. Spiteful summoner priest can be very fun as you're never sure what's going to get summoned! I mean as I always recommend..if you're coming back to the game, just hit up face hunter and go face...all jokes aside, it's cheapish..and can be played to legend with the right mind.. 2 people have hit legend 1 with it recently..great against priests if they don't get specific removal
Why did you come back? You were already free, the best advice is to just quit again... Jk jk 😅 you said you like tempo decks and love rogue so just go for tempo rogue the deck is tier 1 atm and feels very solid when you play it, the problem is that you might have to put a some heavy money into the game as the deck is around 8.5-10k dust depending on some legendary tech choices some people like to include and then the second problem is that 2 of the core cards are rotating on april and fhe deck gets weaker without them, Swashburglar is from the Karazhan adventure and it's arguably the best turn 1 this deck has and only cause of the other rotating card, Patches the pirate, a legendary which I'm sure you've seen already, tbh the deck gets much worse without those 2 guys and imo you chose a bad time to come back, if you want my hinest advice just make super budget decks and start saving for april when the rotation happens, at this point any good deck you want to play will have at least a couple core cards rotating out (a lot of them being irrepleceable legendaries), the only deck that I can think of that is gonna be almost the same is cubelock, only loses mistress of mixtures and while losing the heal could slightly power creep the deck a bit I doubt it's not gonna be very good still after the rotatation but the deck is even more expensive than tempo rogue and idk if you enjoy that type of combo-control hybrid (You would indeed need to summon a bunch of Void Lords for the deck to be good)
I say try out your old decks in wild. If you're an old player, forget about standard for now.
I honestly didnt even realize there was a ladder for wild. I guess ill play some mech mage or something. Was never the best at crafting decks but there is certainly more options
So after playing wild for awhile I find the reno jacksons to be pretty annoying. Keep facing people with gold portraits and a deck full of legendaries at rank 20. After losing to them I get matched with the people that coin frostbalt face turn one then matched against the gatekeepers again when I make headway.
besides that have been playing a budget tempo rogue, budget elemental, a violet teacher and auctioneer jade. Still not sure on "viable decks" with what I have. Current rank 18 in standard 20 in wild
If you are playing a priest deck with divine spirit/inner fire then you could try the dragon priest deck. Its doing quite well as far as i can tell and uses the this as their win condition. Its not that expensive either, about 4,4k dust with only 1 legendary that you could substitute for now.
my recommendation is to come back in april when patches rotates out and maybe buy the starter pack of the new expansion, an alternative would be to try building a face hunter without patches. that would probably be rank 5 viable if you include intelligent tech decisions. the problem is not only patches alone, since you are missing karazhan which will rotate out as well and is needed for many decks

All my hunter decks end up midrange. Im not opposed to it just dont know how to build it with no alley cat candlestick razormaw creeper leeroy hydra etc.

here are the meta decks, you got a lot of good cards and only a bit is missing for each deck to be complete, like you could play zoo (demon version) almost but you would need karazhan, you could almost play murloc paladin but you need again a few cards, or control warlock and so on. at the end you just need to chose and dust some of your crappy cards (not the wild but standard ones, for example you got a lot of epics you won't use). to get a good deck going. at the end better to have one good deck than many cards you don't use. after this is my original post rather for f2p since I didn't know your cards.
so this is a hunter f2p deck, where you dont need karazhan (no secrets no grandmother), it costs 1240 dust , many cards a basic and you can improve the deck till it is playable till rank 5 or even legend. the downside is, currently you want for all aggro decks corridor creeper and the pirate package. by playing golakka crawler, you can increase the win rate at least against pirates (and they are beasts). other notable cheap cards vicious fledgeling, bonemare, scalebane (no beast) and nestling roc.
if you want to know if you need new cards, yes you do, such as alley cat, dire mole, razormaw and flanking strike and candle shot are necessary, but they are all commons and this deck survived so far each expansion that came out.
to really make it go to rank 5 fast or to legend you probably need the pirate package and the corridor creepers though.
if I was you I would take such a deck and improve on it and wait till the next expansion to build one tier 1 deck.
don't forget rank 5 is far easier to achieve at the end of the month/season than at the beginning and how you play your deck and your tech decisions will decide how far you can go with it.
else just look up f2p decks
and for leeroy just replace it with the 6 mana 5/2 charge reckless rocketeer or argent commander. bonemare is also good if you dont have it in deck yet.
flame elemental, tar creeper and scalebane are also good f2p options (all 3 together).
IMPORTANT: in the first 10 packs of an edition there is a garanteed legendary, so if I was you I would get these and probably disenchant to craft a first deck, for example if you draw patches in MSOG, you would basically be able to craft a tier 1 deck, else you get 400 dust which is still good.

Yes spiteful priest is good. But you need to learn opponent decks to do good. And it would take time learning opponent decks

Would it really be worth it since it is going to rotate out? I did the first two wings before realizing that but nontheless thats a bit of gold.
Fair point mackie. Maybe I should just play face hunter until april

I like to make cards and discuss game balance.
I enjoy when "No similar decks were found."

You know what, I have to take it back, priest isnt that bad and I have been messing around and created this deck
