I've dabbled in hearthstone since it was first released but I've never sunk much time into it. A bit ago when I came back the Innkeeper helped me put together a mage deck, which I've tweaked slightly but I'm realizing how little I get deck building theory. Can someone look over http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/936163-jaina-innkeepers-deck and my collection http://www.hearthpwn.com/members/Jasmeralia/collection and give me some advice as to how to improve? I'm mostly concerned with my mage cards, but I'd also like to play a paladin and a warlock so I wouldn't want to DE those class cards. I am mostly interested in adventure modes, not PvP.
If I need to buy a few packs, I'm down with that. Just not sure where I should focus expac wise.
Im probably not the best at deck building myself. But I see a few problems. It looks like you have way to many low cost minions in that deck. Its also in a class that isnt that great at argo style (fast damage with lower cost minions) of play. Your collection is real small so I dont know if there are any quick fixes. I would start by looking for a beginner deck that you have most of the cards for then try and fill in the holes with cards of similar mana cost and stats. Disguised Toast's website has a good list of them. The main problem is collection building. Because with more cards you can build better decks. The fast option is expensive, buy card packs. The budget option is slow, do daily quests and build up gold to either buy packs when an expansion is released and get the pre release deal or play arena with the gold and get packs that way.
If your buying packs I would focus in on Classic. Then the last two expansions. That way you will have them to play longer. In April 2018 Gatagetzan and Old gods rotate out to wild, and Im not sure you have enough cards to build wild decks.
Ok, I picked up a bunch of decks from Classic, Un'goro, and Frozen Throne. After disenchanting the duplicates, I have 1340 dust. Got golden legendary Leroy Jenkins and regular legendary Deathwing. (Also shaman, warlock, and druid legendaries... I'm open to DE'ING Cenarius and Moorabi as I don't intend to play druid or shaman.)
Why are you even spending money if you are just going to play PvE? That sounds awful and extremely boring, the AI from this game is so stupid that you can complete all the adventures in like in like 8 hours at most, and then what? Are you gonna keep playing the innkeeper over and over to just smack it? I can literally go to the innkeper now with the memest of decks and rape that AI by just playing cards and not think about anything. My first honest advice is: If that's your plan stop spending money, you can beat every PvE aspect of the game with the Beginner's cards you get for free, you are just wasting money hard. Second advise: Play PvP, this game can be frustating and dumb but it's also really fun from time to time and as I say there is no point is spending big bucks (Or even a dollar for that sake) to play against dumb AI that you can get to fatigue easily while playing the most aggro deck in existance. As for the mage deck: it honestly looks horrible, no offense but it does, almost nothing makes sense here, you have such crazy mage cards that's unrealistic how terrible your deck is, you have primordial glyphs, blizzards, counter spells, meteor, Antonidas, molten reflections. Your deck honestly is so terrible that there is no way of "fixing" it without literaly switching like 20 cards. My suggestion here is for you to take a look from the available decks in here for mage and copy them as much as possible at first, you won't be able to make any half decent deck now, you just don't have the experience, the one I would recomend to you it's called Secret tempo mage, you have a lot of the cards needed for it, and specially you have the most expensive cards and with those 1400 dust you should be able to craft that deck, after a while you could try the Exodia mage but it requires some expensive cards like the quest (legendary) and ice blocks (epics) those are the best current mage decks. As for your wish of playing Paladin: forget about it, at least for now, paladin decks are insanely expensive as they all need like 3-4 legendaries and a couple epics and you have like 2 of the cards you would use in any current Pala deck, Warlock is usually cheaper but still you don't have many of the good cards. As a final general advice: you have so much dust in your collection, you have a bunch of golden cards which you already have 2 copies of and that is just easy dust, golden cards are only cosmetic but they give you amazing dust when you DE and as your collection is so poor just dust those goldens, you can probably get to 2000 dust or something, also you have so many cards athat are just shit, the warlock quest is thrash, ez dust, same as meat wagon and a bunch of others, you really just need to check the "top meta decks" and check what they have in common and dust the not usefull and general thrash cards, your collection needs to get bigger now but with good strong and playable cards, not with the garbage of HS, hope I could help you!

The deck macadow suggested is quite nice. You have a start to a good taunt druid deck, so I would keep Cenarius. If you need dust Moorabi is likely a good dust candidate as the freeze shaman is not very playable right now, that could change with the next expansion if more freeze cards are added. Leroy Jenkins and Deathwing are worth keeping, if you ever get a regular Leroy, dienchant the gold one. The warlock quest "Lakari sacrafice" is one of the worst card ever created and is a good dust candidate. I would also go through your collection and disenchant any golden cards that you have max normal versions of, 1 legendary, or 2 of everything else. I would ask before crafting anything so you dont waste dust. I would play the prolog of the frozen throne adventure and get the free deathknight card. Play PVP to get better at the game. Start doing daily quests and save up your gold. If you cant make a deck to do a quest, click the X in the corner of the quest to get a new one. You can do it once a day, and up to 3 times for each quest. This way you will be able to buy packs for the next expansion or play arena and get packs that way.
Thank you! Just used it and stomped someone on standard mode. Still having trouble with Maexxna but I suspect I need to use a different build against her.
As for focusing on pve, I want to do that to get more used to the game and then dig into PvP side of things. I'm not intending on never playing pvp, I'm just more interested in the missions at the moment, especially as they will give more decks to work with.

To be honest: you are not going to learn much about the game by playing PvE because you are going to play bad AIs with even worse decks or somewhat decent AIs with crazy overpowered cards that don't have anything to do with the actual game. In neither case you will learn anything that helps you against a real person.
In addition: Playing "good" decks vs the AI often isn't the best way. In most cases the easiest way to beat them is to take a look at what they are going to do (Hero Power e.g.) and run something that specifically counters their strategy.

Glad you like it . I put burgle bullies to the deck to support antonidas with coins btw. For pve this deck might not work everytime. You have to counter the boss you face and tweak your deck accordingly.
According to your collection this is the cheapest yet really good deck I coud come up with , you only need to spend 600 dust in 1 extra Primordial glyph and 2x Kabal crystal runner, you have the rest of the cards and the deck should look pretty sick. I know I said you have all of the rest but there is Medivh's valet and you don't have Karazan, idk if you plan on buying it but you should, it has a lot of really good cards for all classes. If you decide you 100% don't wantto get that adventure then you can probably replace with an Skulking geist and either Kabalist tome or Flamestrike (If you find a lot of aggro/ minion based decks) are pretty decent. The way yo uplay this is playing your cards on curve and deal as much damage to your opponent, only trade if it is absolutely necessary, this is not a control oriented deck you are supposed to make huge tempo plays like turn 5 Kirin into secret into Valet and stuff like that, it isn't that hardof a deck to pilot so after like 5-10 games you should comprehend how to play it more effectively

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

This is the cheapest deck I have. Since you mentioned you also play Warlock you might like it. It can be used in adventures too.
