Let's start off by congratulating the top-voted finalists of our "One Thing Led To Another..." competition, TheBeaverKing! We'll be reaching out to our winner to help us determine what's in store for you all next week.
Before we get to this week's competition, I just want to wish all of my fellow US Hearthstone players and Fan Creation Forum contributors a Happy 4th of July Weekend!
Because America. Now that that's out of the way...
Competition #23: "Places, everyone!"
This week's theme comes from Ridelith, whose "Durotan" card won the jackpot in our Lucky 7's competition one week ago. What will determine this week's winner? Location, location, location...
Entry Restrictions: Your card's effect must depend on or interact with minion board position.
Existing Examples: The most obvious examples are cards whose effects are determined by minion adjacency. These can be beneficial, like Wee Spellstopper or Ancient Mage, but they can also be detrimental, like Betrayal and Foe Reaper 4000. Or they might be a little bit of both, like Void Terror. It doesn't stop at adjacency, though. Remember Heigan the Unclean's hero power Eruption? A card with a similar effect would be perfectly valid, and I'm looking forward to seeing what other sorts of entirely new position-based effects your creative minds will come up with!
Competition Rules
We, the Fan Creation Forum Moderators, may edit and/or disqualify your entry if you neglect the competition's rules, so please read carefully. These measures are designed to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable experience during the contests!
New rule - You MUST upload your submission to a site that stores images, for example Imgur.com, Photobucket.com etc. This is for your own best as Hearthcards sometimes have problems resulting in lost images.
You are allowed to submit one (1) entry per competition. Your entry must be a card of your own creation. You may add minimal comments to explain your card's design, balance, and/or qualities. You may not significantly alter your card once it has been submitted. (Although minor tweaks, such as to adjust balance or correct spelling errors, are acceptable.) You may not delete your submission post. Manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive a warning and a possible ban / disqualification from future contests. Any discussion of entries, ideas, and so on should take place in this week's designated Discussion Topic. This is the Submission Topic, and it is for submission posts and up-voting only.
Although this is not a rule exactly, we highly encourage you to create your card using Hearthcards.net to give your idea a realistic look.
Competition Process
Entry Phase and Early Voting (Starts 20:00 UTC 2/July/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 7/July/2015) It is during this Phase that you may submit entries to the Submission Topic. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 7/July/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 8/July/2015) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 8/July/2015, Ends 19:00 UTC 9/July/2015) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a 24-hour poll to decide the winner of the competition!
New system - The top 0-1 entries on each page will qualify for the final. The rest of the spots, ca 10 (excluding Wildcards), will be decided by the formula below. We will try this for one week and then evaluate if this is more fair than just using the formula. Thanks for bearing with us.
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? Using the formula detailed here...
(abc) / (de) = x
Where, a = The total number of up-votes in the entire topic. b = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. c = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. d = The total number of pages that the entire topic spanned. e = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
It might seem a bit complex and convoluted, but the bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score. It will be the ~15-25 entries that receive the highest final scores (depending on the popularity of this week's competition) that move on to the Final Phase. The spreadsheet showing the final scores of every submission will be released after each competition.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
To encourage your competitive spirit, we do of course offer a few rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! The power to choose the theme for a future competition! A unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!
Hello people and good luck! I will stick with a shaman so here it is:
Stoneskin totem used to give your party or raid member an Armor increase in World of Warcraft (like aura). This card is similar since it gives a type of protection. Very simple and usable!
Can die against board like Knife Juggler + Leper Gnome (2 from LG +3 "free" from KJ+ 3 from KJ=8), but can freeze a little early aggression and save for you not so little hero's HP, without this pesky feedback of Deathlord and 1 mana less too. Synergy with Hobgoblin, and all other buffs will be just great also!
the card's text may be a tad confusing or not seem clear. any opponent's minion that is infront of this minion gains the effect of being able to be attacked and what not. second, this can allow you to attack a minion even if there is another minion with taunt on the board. third, this can allow you to attack a minion that has stealth, or hero power/spell damage it.
I'm really starting to love Rogue. One thing I noticed about her is that she's missing a decent 4 mana drop. Gnomish Inventor card cycling is no longer necessary. Piloted Shredder is decent, but not very reliable. Same thing with Violet Teacher and her 1/1 that help Patron Warrior make his shenanigans.
Cunning Executioner is not crazy good, but is not meant to be. Is very situational, but kinda fun. Maybe runnin one copy can really make a difference in a situation where you want to kill a Taunt minion or something.
Trying to give an alternative 1 drop to shaman than can be somewhat useful later.
If there are no minions either on the left, right or both it will retain the original stats (same as if Vol'jin doesn't have a valid target) If used on turn 1 You'll still be locked on T2 but get an extra minion later on. It can be silenced to a vanilla 1/3 also. To slarify It swaps health with the minion on the left and attack with the minion on the right.
Mid game it can be used to make favorable trades. However something will be sacrificed and you'd probably have to think about the placement of minions from T1 onwards.
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

Yeah, double Recombobulator-effect in one card, enjoy
Hello there! Here is my submission for this week.
Press Spoiler (click to show) to see the summoned card: Rolling Boulder
Can die against board like Knife Juggler + Leper Gnome (2 from LG +3 "free" from KJ+ 3 from KJ=8), but can freeze a little early aggression and save for you not so little hero's HP, without this pesky feedback of Deathlord and 1 mana less too. You can't stop the signal.

Note that in hearthstone, the board is flipped for your opponent, so the "minion to the left" will look the same for both players.
Trying to give an alternative 1 drop to shaman than can be somewhat useful later.

On the bad side the text is way way too long...
Totem Synergy, eh.
Yay i already had a card ... again
