But seriously I understand "for fun". i didnt need to make a thread to get that. It seems to me however, that since there are so many of you with such a need for this type of thing, that you could just pool your resources and make a separate game where everyone can make cards AND play them. why limit yourselves to the WOW/HS universe where you cant really do much but say hey look at me i made a thing!

There are custom hearthstones.
Unless you are suggesting thousands of people form a game company?
I fully agree with you, Equinox, and I'd also like to add another reason why we make all these custom cards (well it's a reason for me personally mostly, but I guess it might also be for some other people). I think that Blizzard actually sometimes gets ideas from here, Hearthcards, or the custom cards reddit and DO include them in the actual game. Whenever that happens, it always feels pretty nice for the card's creator to later play with the card they actually designed. Blizzard never adknowledges they got the idea from somewhere else (and perhaps they didn't), but it still feels nice to think that.
Case in point: back when I was doing the custom expansion in my signature back in June 2017, I wanted to give Quest Paladin a little push since I liked how the deck played and was a bit dissappointed it flopped in Un'Goro. That's why I gave Paladin the legendary in the attachment.
Yep, as you can see, I actually created Lynessa Sunsorrow before blizzard did :D. If you don't believe me, you can search the card by name on Hearthcards and check the date on which it got into the gallery. Needless to say I felt pretty awesome when Blizz revealed Lynessa!! Also, this is far from the first time this has happened, some guy on reddit predicted Defile I think. Here, now you have yet another (albeit small) reason to make custom cards. Besides, it's just fun overall!

It's obvious that you haven't actually looked at many of these fan creations. If you did, you'd understand why this is just for fun and not for profit.

Look I'm not trying to start a flame war and I'm not trolling so cool down.
I dislike the content, that's all. It makes me cringe, I hate it.
I was looking at some card art submitted just yesterday for example and it almost made me puke. The cards were obviously originally designed for Magic The Gathering, but as for whether he had lifted inspiration from magic or simply submitted a similar post on 'MagicPWN' I don't know, but this is my point.
People are flagging #hearthstone on their drawings and looking for feedback on their art.
So many card suggestions/mechanic suggestions are so ridiculous you'd wonder if the person submitting has ever even played the game.
Why does having to ignore it annoy me? Because it is not front page relevant.
It dilutes the content that majority is actually coming to the site for, and imo is a form of shitposting.
You really want to have a discussion about all the things that are not front page relevant?
How about the million posts about whether or not to dust runespear. If that's your issue we can go down this rabbit hole for a while. We have a forum for Fan Creations, which we're in now by the way. It makes sense for the site to encourage something that's already promoted.
Not to mention, it's hearthstone. Think about all the front page posts. A ton of it isn't super relevant because hearthstone news rarely happens. They need something to fill the gaps.
Locked because I don't really see any further discussion coming from this.
I think both sides have made their points already - "I don't enjoy it" vs "I enjoy it" - and there isn't really much more to be said.
We promote the WCDC and various Big Competitions on the front page because they're a pretty big draw to the site, really. Surprisingly enough, there are a lot of people who really enjoy translating their own ideas into Hearthstone cards and showing them off to other interested people.
If you're not interested in that, that's totally fine. I, for example, am completely disinterested in Competitive Hearthstone and thus pretty much ignore every Tournament post on the front page. Lots of people are very interested in that though, which is why we have people dedicated to keeping that up to date.
Why do we have sports players? Having people bash heads over a stuffed pigskin won’t help society? Why do people kicking balls into nets when they clearly have a bucket for everyone in a corner? Why hit a ball with a wooden stick that can hit someone in the head and kill them? Heck. Why do people play Hearthstone? Why do people watch pointless animated pictures on a screen that do little but cause eye damage? Why?
Cuz it’s fun. Some people may not get why thing is fun to another. It might be silly. It might be instinctive or to use unharnessed creativity. It could be the personification of our hopeful prospects for the future of the game. I’m sure CheeseETC is an aspiring Blizzard developer.
If you don’t get why we found it fun, understand that for some of us, it might be one of our sources of income. How much do we get paid? It’s a secret (not really).
quest complete: poke the beast.

Anyone care for some popcorn? This looks like a fun topic where triggered people describe how they are not triggered. My favourite.
so there ARE places people get to use these cards? honestly the first im hearing of it, sorry for my naivety

also thousands of people all in on a game company sounds pretty awesome and I would like to see that
What a stupid excuse for a thread.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
I agree with the OP in regards to the saturation of these topics on Hearthpwn. It's a lot. But whatevz.

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!

Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.
