Looking for feedback on an idea before I commit too much to it. Like Hunter Deathknights, I thought about stitching minions together as a theme for the Apothecary.
In this case, say you target a Goldshire Footman and you discover a Harvest Golem. The Footman now gets a buff that gives it +2/+3 and Deathrattle: Summon a 2/1 mech. If the footman is silenced or returned to hand the spliced minion is cut off.
This is the effect in its most basic form. Another card might combine 2 such minions and apply the buffs to a 0/0 Patchwork body. A future legendary may let you discover 3 such minions and gain all their effects. But I want to make sure it's not too complicated.
Reguardless I'll be posting my updated set tonight. There's been a few changes!
Edit - And if balance is an issue, I could make Charge minions not be able to be discovered by these effects.
I guess the effect is fine, but very polarizing. Im not sure if you can balance it, given that the card might be a 4 mana Dinosize or Power Word: Shield. Obviously if you would discover more minions = more stats and effects, it would get even more insane.
Oh, nvm it says 3-cost minion, ok. I guess that is fine then.
Yeah, it would be bonkers if it was a fully random minion. Most of them will be balanced around 3-cost minions, since they don't have "can't be targeted" or Doomsayer in their group.
Splice could be balanced at 5 mana, but that might be overkill. In all honesty, putting that on a minion isn't too scary. There are much worse snowball effects in the game. And there's no Inner Fire - Divine Shield combo to end the game immediately.
Honestly its not even that problematic, at absolutely very best it is a one in a milion windfury and a 3/3 for 4 mana, which is good, but 1) you have to have the Fledgling offered 2) your opponent cant have taunts 3) you have to "get lucky" with the adapt options 4) the extra damage would have to matter in the situation u would be in. Ofc there r some Trollden moments possibilities, but those seem so unlikely, that i wouldnt even consider them from the balance perspective.
Thinking about this card some more today, i think it has become one of my favourite cards in this entire competition. It actually has so much depth in it and fits very well in the WOG set, since it basically interacts with all the Old Gods.
Combined with your hero power, you can stall out any card (like Nzoth for example) to when you would like to draw it or play it and gain an additional copy of it with this card. The beauty of it and the thing that in my eyes makes this balanced is, that you will have to invest some mana down the line via your hero power to keep shuffling the card you want to copy later on out of the top of your deck. One small thing im a bit sad about is that i think your hero power looks at 4 cards, not 3 as i suggested back in the Phase II, which makes it a bit easier to shuffle the desired card one card further into the deck, but thats not end of the world.
Another very cool thing about this card is, that if a play like i described above became a power play, Gnomeferatu would actually be a pretty good tech card, since you would know what the top card of your opponent's deck would be, if he played this as a copy of that turn prior. And as much as i hate deck/hand attacks, i wouldnt actually mind this one bit, since you would have already played the discarded card once, so you wouldnt be in the end denied the card, but you wouldnt get the additional value in form of the second copy.
And then it could develop into some interesting mindgames, where you would shuffle the card you would want to get as second, not first, in the order you would put them back on top of your deck, to play around Gnomeferatu. Ahaha, this card has so much potential to bring very interesting plays and counter-plays into the game. Nice!
Nope. My Hero Power does indeed look at 3 cards.
You might be thinking of Future Sight which looks at 4.

Ok, a bunch of changes to my class. I changed up the challenge cards and replaced most of my Murlocs. Many of them need some explanation, so I'm breaking up the post a bit. Any feedback you have would be appreciated! Here's my keyword again.
Main Questions: 1 - Do you like the merge idea for Splice and Corpse Hybrid? 2 - How much should Convergence cost? 3 - What do you think of Abercrombie? 4 - What do you think of Maniacal Laughter and Restock the Lab?
First, some minor changes to my Classic set
Changed Patchwork Golem's art. His previous art will be used for Festergut later on.
The first For Science! on the left is the original. It's fun, but subject to very frustrating RNG. The other 2 are replacement options. I'm partial to Healing Tonic (compare Holy Wrath) but the 2nd For Science! gives flexible card draw.
Next, the challenge cards.
Warped Subject, based on the Basic card Test Subject, fulfills the first 2 challenges. Dark Queen is challenge 3. In lore, the Apothecaries of the Undercity answer only to Sylvanas Windrunner. This card is in homage to her, but I prefer the Battlecry to Deathrattle for this minion.
Next, my new cards that feature a 'merge' mechanic
The idea is the Old Gods inspire some dark ideas in the Alchemist, creating Patchworks using other minions. Splice gives the target a buff that includes the stats and text (keywords, effects) of the discovered minion. Corpse Hybrid gets 2 buffs. As with any buff, Silence removes the effect. Splice would be fun to use on Warped Subject to also buff C'Thun.
An important note is that these cards cannot discover a Charge minion like Woldrider.
Convergence, inspired by Dead Space, lets you turn a board of weenies into a fat Taunt minion. Not sure what cost would be balanced. This combos VERY well with the Legendary...
Abercrombie is a Hermit from Duskwood. In WoW, he convinces players into gathering reagents, then uses them to make Stitches and attack Darkshire. This lets you get an 8/8 out cheap when you run an aggressive deck and wipe the board with Convergence or the Basic / Classic aoes. Tinkering with stats and costs, let me know what you think.
And the rest of the cards!
Mur'Ghoul - the Warcraft name for Zombie Murlocs. More Murloc synergy in future sets, as they fit the swarming and buffing themes of the class. Writhing Tonic - With Splice providing a buff, this is changed to deal damage. Compare with Blood To Ichor and Disciple of C'Thun, not sure what this should cost. The Tentacle is the same art as from Forbidden Ritual. Shifting Sludge - Weaken an enemy, buff a friendly's attack or health to trade. Flexible Vol'jin inspired card. Maniacal Laughter - Fun card inspired by Renounce Darkness. RNG away your cards for better ones. Dubious Cocktail - Based on Dubious Food from Breath of the Wild. A semi-drinkable sludge that can buff your kill a minion. Restock the Lab - Finally, a card with little text! But is this too good for it's cost? Apothecaries lack burst damage, but have a few single-target buffs, removals, and flexible Mutate cards.

I think the merging mechanic is fine. It thematically fits well with the class and produces lots of interesting interactions. The fact that it would supposedly be introduced along with Blood of The Ancient One is appropriate as well. Perhaps Warped Subject could be changed for something like "Choose a minion. Give your C'Thun its stats and card text (wherever it is)" or something like that. Not that I have anything against it as is now.
I think Convergence can probably get away with being cheaper since it basically just gives you the same amount of stats now combined into one minion instead of being spread out and it relies on you having a board.
Abercrombie is fine. For some reason, custom borders don't allow you to make dormant cards (ala Sherazin, Seed and Nether Portal), to the Stitches token looks a little weird, but it's not your fault.
Maniacal Laughter I'm personally apathetic about. It's random, some people like it, others won't, but it being restricted to class cards does make it more fair I guess. Restock the Labs is pretty simple. Perhaps, it could go with your stitching theme and you could stitch the two spells together although the Mutate keyword might make it a bit awkward.

Quiet Night Life: Errr... so. It's basically a 4 mana Frost Nova, both sides, but has the upside of stopping charges. I'm not sure that warrants an extra 1 mana over Frost Nova. (This card is actually quite complex as it lasts so long. Maybe stray away from this.) Apology: Well, a 5/2 weapon is 5 mana, you are saving 2 mana. But you give your opponent 3 cards, 5 mana's worth. So you lose 3 mana, which is too heavy of a penalty, even though this card is extremely strong. Try 2 cards. Savior in the Darkness: I'd try to find different artwork, it's too obvious that's Optimus Prime. While I'm on this card, no need to use a dash, just a period will do, or a "then". Just a nitpick.
1 - Do you like the merge idea for Splice and Corpse Hybrid: I am not 100% how to feel about this, as I was an early proponent of merging, as one of my classes form the 3rd class competition was based on merging. That being said, splice is ok, Corpse Hybrid is not. I do realize Hearthstone has gotten more complex over the years, but I still stick to a few core tenets: No hand attacks, no deck attacks, and no double clicking. Double Discover is double clicking. (Double clicking is when you perform an action and you cannot undo it once you do it) I don't know if people still follow this core philosophy as Kazakus exists, but do keep in mind he came later and is a Legendary. A quick note on Splice. Technically, Discover is "Choose one of three options to add to your hand". I do not know if there is an existing example of discover that does not actually add the card to your hand, other than FFA, which explicitly says to summon it, and Finley, where you simply cannot add a Hero Power to your hand. You may want to consider the wording and rarity, in that case. Yet another note on Splice. It double targets. Ehhh. 2 - How much should Convergence cost? Um. The closest thing is Void Terror, which is a 3/3 by itself. So, pretty cheap, I reckon. 3 - What do you think of Abercrombie? Seems ok. Not sure if you are able to kill it yourself though. If not, then he might find himself in the same situation Demented Lackey finds itself when played without Dark Pact, just begging for Silence. (And do keep in mind Silence can and will be common, like it is now.) 4 - What do you think of Maniacal Laughter and Restock the Lab: Maniacal Laughter is fine. Restock the Lab, double target. Maybe Discover, then a copy of it to your hand.
My crap:
Abyssal Ascendant is no longer the C'Thun buffer card. Rare rarity is based on Doomcaller.
-->
3 mana, or 4 mana?
-->
Rook reworked. It should be fine now.
-->
Tentacles removed. Though the effect of the weapon is pretty basic, the fact it's a 0-mana weapon is an interesting point.
-->
Abyssal Ascendant was made a rare to make room for this card. I asked, this card is allowed.
-->
Not sure which version is better. First is designed for long-term value, but seems too slow. The other is more combo-based, like many of the other class legendaries of WTG

Hope you can forgive me that I don't write an feedback right now since 2 people have already commented on this. But seems like you have adapted some ideas from the Necromancer class?
Converge is the same as Necromerge from the Necromancer's classic set. (And there will follow more merge mechanics I think)
And Ragnador posted the exact same idea like your legendary before it got changed into this because he thought 'dormant' was not fitting for a classic set.
Just wanted to point that out. Maybe you were not aware of it. Credit give were credit is due.
Can one make changes in the basic and classic set?
I would not recommend doing big changes as exchanging whole cards Hero Powers or Keywords for other different one, some people might have had that card as a "i wasn't sure if i should vote on this but this card made me decide" would feel tricked. Small changes like art, name, (tho that goes under flavor) or stats and text are of course a-okay.
So tl;dr. Though its not forbidden per se we wouldnt recommend it.

Thank you, I wasn't aware that these were the same ideas. I do think that Pork and Ambercrombie have enough differences now that it should be alright. But Necromerge and Convergence, probably not. Luckily there's still a week before submission!
As far as concerns about Splice and Corpse Hybrid requiring double clicking, I don't think that in itself is too big a deal. Some Druid cards like Wrath and Keeper of the Grive require double clicking (effect and target). Kazakus has triple-clicking (Cost and 2 effects) which I agree is too much for a non-legendary. But if I have a better alternative I'll replace or delay Corpse Hybrid.

Oops, I meant double targeting. In any case, I stated my definition earlier: Where you perform an action and then you cannot go back. You can cancel Choose One. Choose TWICE is a double target, for example. Got any comments for my stuff?

Okay, I changed around some cards and replaced a few as well. C+C welcome as always!
Big Heart Portal: i want to say its ok, but now it kinda feels like a worse Fungal Enchanter.
Quiet Night Life: so for one more mana over Frost Nova, your minions get frozen too? i don get it lol.
Apology: cool flavor, but i dont like this card very much, seems way too punishing, even tho i guess it could find a place in some aggro deck, where you wouldnt care about the card draw. Or a mill deck i suppose, is that something ur trying to push? Seems like ur designing a lot of mill cards in this set.
Misunderstood: seems fine.
Mood: Depressed: also fine.
Monophobia: also fine.
Spiteful Darkbot: still not very relevant drawback, but at 5 mana its passable. Tho probably make it 6/6 at best.
Sympathetic spider: cards like these r giants, so the flavor is out of the window on this one.
Savior in the Darkness: i actually like this card a lot. Its quite strong to get a 4/6 taunt and draw 5 cards for 10 mana, it might look like a weaker Ultimate Infestation, but its more versatile (you dont have to play it for 10 mana) and there r other interactions with putting the cards at the bottom of your deck, which makes this pretty great. The wording is a bit off tho and the fact that it is basically a forbidden card, which is also a legendary isnt great, but oh well. Should read something like "Taunt. Battlecry: Spend all your Mana. Draw a card for each mana spent." (Forbidden Ancient). Mby you can rename it to a Forbidden something and have it pass as a legendary anyway.

New For Science! is probably better than the Tonic.
Convergence: not sure about the cost, Void Terror is a 3/3 for 3 that kills two of your minions and doesnt get taunt. So as a spell wihout the extra 3/3 stats, mby it can cost 3 mana as well? Obviously this seems to be designed for any egg or deathrattle shenanigans, but at the same time it makes it arguably easier for your opponent to clear your board.
Abercrombie: yeah that wording is much better. Probably ask someone to make the dormant card for you with your chosen custom border tho, i mean its not that big of a deal, but it would look better. HC doesnt have that type of card for every custom border for obvious reasons (original creators of custom borders didnt make them in a first place).
Abyssal Ascendant is no longer the C'Thun buffer card. Rare rarity is based on Doomcaller.
-->
3 mana, or 4 mana?
-->
Rook reworked. It should be fine now.
-->
Tentacles removed. Though the effect of the weapon is pretty basic, the fact it's a 0-mana weapon is an interesting point.
-->
Abyssal Ascendant was made a rare to make room for this card. I asked, this card is allowed.
-->
Not sure which version is better. First is designed for long-term value, but seems too slow. The other is more combo-based, like many of the other class legendaries of WTG
OR
Abyssal Ascendant: basically strictly better Doomcaller, not only in what it provides in terms of the board, but also since you dont actually have to keep it in your hand and can play it on curve and get the second copy of Cthun "right away" and not only that, by having two Cthuns in the deck, it doubles the chances of drawing it. I dont entirely hate what ur trying to do, but it does seem way too strong.
Merciless Subjugation: i dont hate it, but also dont exactly love it. I suppose cute card for future recruit mechanic, if that thought even crossed your mind?:)
Pearlescent Rook: seems fine now.
Saltspring Wand: nothing too amazing, but i suppose it does serve a purpose for your class.
Forgotten Seer: now that is a pretty cool design!
Queen Azshara: not entirely sure which version i like better, but i suppose the first one feels a lot inspire/saraad-esque, so mby go with the second one, even tho the second one is probably a lot stronger or at least has way stronger combo potential, Saltspring Wand might not seem so bad suddenly :)
Srsly does this shit ever end...plz remove this from the front page at least... jeebus
Why? These are easily the best part of this site. Besides, not posting this on the front page won't make it go any faster. It'll still take the exact same amount of time. By the way, this does end. I believe Phase VI is the final phase.

Nope. My Hero Power does indeed look at 3 cards.
You might be thinking of Future Sight which looks at 4.

Okay, I changed around some cards and replaced a few as well. C+C welcome as always!
Ok, a bunch of changes to my class. I changed up the challenge cards and replaced most of my Murlocs. Many of them need some explanation, so I'm breaking up the post a bit. Any feedback you have would be appreciated! Here's my keyword again.
Main Questions:
1 - Do you like the merge idea for Splice and Corpse Hybrid?

Midterms are over, reading break is here, I finally have time.
Quiet Night Life: Errr... so. It's basically a 4 mana Frost Nova, both sides, but has the upside of stopping charges. I'm not sure that warrants an extra 1 mana over Frost Nova. (This card is actually quite complex as it lasts so long. Maybe stray away from this.)
Apology: Well, a 5/2 weapon is 5 mana, you are saving 2 mana.
(And do keep in mind Silence can and will be common, like it is now.)
4 - What do you think of Maniacal Laughter and Restock the Lab: Maniacal Laughter is fine. Restock the Lab, double target. Maybe Discover, then a copy of it to your hand.
