This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic is here. (Please read the Submission Topic first.)
Welcome to the fantastic Discussion Topic, where you can argue with each other over how best to represent your class to attract Deathwing's attention. This is the place to let your ideas run wild, to ask other people for their opinions on your class's flavour and balance and other such things. After all, everyone knows that all those reality shows are full of fake people trying to game the system - working together to figure out how best to win is practically tradition! And of course, glamorous assistant Cogito and her captive willing mod friends are here to answer any questions about the rules as well.
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your idea? Do you need help finding art that will fit your cards? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per competition, so make sure that you've settled on your idea for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's ideas? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. We understand that some of you might have a ton of potential ideas you'd like to share. However, this thread is going to become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time, to keep the thread generally orderly and legible.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your idea is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your ideas for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

I'm happy with these challenges. And now I can move forward with my Apothecary idea without having to change anything! Expect to see the hero and some initial ideas later tonight!

Got it. I'll be sure to make the future challenges oh-so deviously difficult and demanding in the future. MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Deathing Needs a Friendwing [CAN I SPIN THE WHEEL?] (No) (Part 1 Chapter 2 (i kno it should be chapter one since the last one was a prologue but i can't into comic anatomy, deal with it))
Everybody already started building their classes while I'm not even sure what I want to submit. Crap...
Don't worry about it! You have plenty of time (a week to be specific)! Just relax and something will come to you!
Plus, the fact that everyone is already making their classes BEFORE the challenges...may lead to their downfall in the future.
Let's just say that I'll begin putting in some truly nasty challenges in future phases, and as more of the contestants becomes the audience, vengeful of being beaten by their fellow competitors, well...let's just say that I expect a natural difficulty increase over time.
So, it's time to ask for suggestions for my class. Here we go:
Scholar
(1)
OR (2)
The class gameplay is focused on mana, deck and cards manipulation and revealing cards with Identify exclusive-class keyword.
I miss a mechanic like that in Hearthstone. Revealing cards can be a nice advantage and provides a fresh concept to the game, IMO. I've made a montage on the spoiler below which ilustrates an identified card on opponent's hand
About the Hero Power, I firstly made the Hero Power (2). But I'm almost choosing the (1) unless I have a better idea. It sounds more concise (which I consider important because all 9 classes hero powers have brief texts) and way more original (I saw someone on the pool thread that made a hero power similar to my second option). However, I appreciate any advices!

Thats why i rly hated the #6 challenge and am SUPER sad that it went through ... we dont know what other challenges will we have to tackle and we now have to present cards from sets that will be made in the future with those extra rules. Sure, we can abandon or tweak the cards presented in the Phase 1 (which we will probably have to), but that is not rly an outcome im happy about, oh well :/
Do the example cards have to be from Standard? I have an idea for a Dragon card, but it fits best thematically into Blackrock Mountain. I don't remember if we touched on this in past competitions. Cards don't have to be part of our final set, so it makes sense to me that we can present non-Standard cards as examples now.

It needs to be Standard, unfortunally. That's what rule #6 Applies for:
From Deathwing: Standard only, too, nobody wants to hear about those crazy Wild places; you'll be picking from Basic, Classic, WOG, ONiK, MSG, JtU, KFT and KnC.
I remember we touched it past competition for as for honour for the finalists, but only last phase.

No, ALL of your example cards have to be from Standard. Including GvG and BRM makes that challenge a cakewalk, Deathwing doesn't like cakewalks. Or cake. He's that diabolical.
Speaking of challenges I hate, I'm really not digging this keyword requirement. It works for some people's classes, but it feels more restrictive to me than anything -- forcing people to think of and define their new mechanics into keywords can take simple and neat ideas and make go in awkward directions.
In general this idea of like -- "Oh, I'm going to really mess people's ideas and visions up in the future, mwahahaha!" doesn't jive well with me at all. If someone has an idea in mind, I'd think the requirements posed for people should be more about inspiring people via necessity rather than simply preventing them from expressing the ideas they have in mind. Of course, this is only my silly take on things.
Does anybody have an idea that might work as a keyword for my class? I'd like something simple, similar to Combo or Choose One, that fits in somewhat with the identity I've already developed.
Ok, here's my pitch. I know I'm missing the tribe-rule one, but this is to showcase my idea for the competition since I've not gotten any feedback on it yet.
The class I'm going with is Dreadlord. In the Warcraft series, these were vampiric, trickster demon lords that served the Legion. Just like in WoW, in Hearthstone their gimmick would be Vampirism (Lifesteal), Trickery (Control, Sleep, maybe Secrets) and, of coure, Demons.
A Dreadlord's goal is that of attrition of resources, meaning, making your opponent run out of resources before you do. It is done so mainly through a combination of minions, spells and, specially, tons of healing. However, the main source of... food is not usually your enemies, but your allies. Your minions, despite not being the strongest, will grant you further protection and sustain to keep you in the game.
There is also a new keyword specific to this class: Bloodbound. Bloodbound cards come into effect when your hero is healed with any kind of effect, whether it is a spell or Lifesteal. But Dreadlords do not only play bloody, they also play dirty. They hold possession of a grand array of tricks and dark magic under their sleeves.
But in the end what's a class without it's Legendary. That's where this little fellow enters. Tichondrius will double your max Health to make sure you can heal even more than before (Disclamer: It does not double your current Health, only the max cap. Current Health stays the same.)
The keyword challenge might make things a bit interesting. Some classes will probably suffer from having to force a keyword into it, but there will probably be cool stuff as well.
My class will probably be Commander/Champion, based on warfare, commanding a battle and stuff like that. Will have things like weapon synergy, minion buffs and positioning based effects. Like the new keyword ”Formation”, which will indicate an effect thats active if the minion has a friendly minion on both sides of it. For example a minion with ”Formation: +2 Attack” would have +2 attack if between friendly minions.

Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
Making a hero with an upbeat comical theme is harrrrrrrrrrrrrd. Literally all the art I find the characters have cold stoic faces.
