Retooled my cards and scrapped one based on previous advice. Thanks guys, because apparently simple designs are not my strong suit. I think I'm still way too used to Magic's card design where I could get away with trippy designs more even on the commons. The most complex one is still Lost Voyager but I think he's probably a lot closer to Obsidian Destroyer's level of complexity now.
(I couldn't resist using the art for Greedy Necrolyte again. It's not obvious it's Gul'dan, right? =P )
Alright, I've come up with some paint swatches card variants! Different art, different stats, slightly different buff: the "control" on the left, a 6/8 in the middle, and a 7/8 with +3/+3 on the right. I wouldn't necessarily combine the 7/8 stats with the +3/+3; I'm just presenting them all at once, to see what "pick-and-mix" would be most appropriate, you know? I like the idea of bumping it up to +3/+3 because its reliant on popping Divine Shields (not always gonna happen readily), and to make it more in line with Blood Knight. It's like Blood Knight, but C'Thun gets all of the buffs hehe
At the moment, I'm inclined to make it a 6/7 or 6/8 +3/+3 with the art on the right.
I'm actually fond of the idea of giving it more attack than health, given that this is, what, a knight who's given up the cause and joined C'Thun? (After all, the Paladins were supposed to be all-good in Whispers of the Old Gods, right?)
It would also be a slight balancing force to give it the stats you're thinking (and the +3/+3) but to have higher attack than health, as high health is usually stronger. I think the +3/+3 is like, horribly immense, but not necessarily unjustifiable. =P It's actually stronger than Blood Knight by nature, IMO, as it doesn't eat the divine shields so you don't lose their value, and while it still goes on a big minion that's easily removed, you get the battlecry value either way. So I recommend a 7/6 or 8/6 with the +3/+3 effect. The art on the right is definitely the right call though.
Not too sure about the stats, seems to be of comparable power level (or lack thereof) to Captured Jormungar. Mostly for Arena, obviously. Might bump it it 4/10, but I like how it can tangle with The Lich King or Ironbark Protector and just barely live to tell the tale. Would love to hear your thoughts...
I like it. I think its stats are good considering that Captured Jormungar isn't good as-is. It might be slightly overpowered if it can bust 8-drops like you mention, but I guess the 1-mana difference isn't that huge a gap and it can only bust taunts so easily, so I say leave it.
I think if you can, you should find different art though. It sucks how hard it is to find good art of the Warcraft III units but the old CG model will probably lose you votes. Maybe some kind of fanart of it, or artwork of a similar creature? I would try the art links in the Primer thread (pinned in this section), and if you don't find anything maybe try deviantART, Tumblr, Pinterest, etc. Make sure you credit artists though. =P
Brittle Jade is actually very well-statted when compared to something like Jade Behemoth. It's easily the most creative one of the three and I think the easiest to see as a real common (again, especially since Jade Behemoth is one). This is probably my favorite but I like the other two a lot as well.
Venomtail Scorpid and Deathseer's Dragon both have powerful effects, and they're relatively simple but I feel like they have huge repercussions that make their results less simple and maybe you don't tend to see that on commons? I don't think any of these are impossible though, again especially with something like Plague Scientist existing. I might drop the dragon though as it's a massive amount of... not really card generation but power generation, and its the wild sort of effect that are pretty rare on commons. I think the stat-line on the Venomtail is fairly reasonable but I'm concerned its effect would be so powerful -- Fan of Knives, Backstab, Razorpetal Lasher... *shudder* -- that it doesn't need to have the high health to be powerful.
Then again even with cheap Rogue spells it might need to be able to stick. Maybe 6 health? The concern is it not dodging Fireball, but it dodges basically all AoE so on a properly controlled board it should be fine most times; the rest of the main removal spells can kill it at 8 anyway, like Meteor, Assasinate, Execute, etc.
(EDIT: Ignore this. I'm tired and thought Venomtail was a Rogue card for some reason. On a Hunter its power level is much tamer. I still might consider tweaking its stats, though on a Hunter my suggestion might actually be to keep its health but lower its own attack; it's clearly a Midrange/Control card anyway.)
Northshore Captain is meant to encourage late-game pirate decks. Ice Barrens Prowler is meant to be one of those Druid beasts that also satisfies the 5-Attack requirement. Streetwise Protector is like Bonemare except either better or worse.
Thanks for the input earlier! My most important advice: I would not submit Ice Barrens Prowler. Even with the intent of this contest as clear as it is, I don't think a completely vanilla minion has any hope of winning I'm afraid.
Northshore Captain is similar to Prince Keleseth's power in the right deck, with the added weakness being most pirates are weaker minions you'll have largely played out already in an ideal game, long before you play this (unlike Keleseth). I suggest this buffing the played pirates too, and costing it higher like a 10-mana 8/8 or 9/9. That said though, I'm not sure it can be a Common with an effect like this. Streetwise Protector is a cool idea though. I think you can fit the "until your next turn" line on the stealth that you guys talked about earlier if you ditch the stat boosts. I recommend re-statting this minion with that in mind and keep the taunt/stealth effects. Making this an 8/8/, a 10/6, or a 6/10 would be fine I think, though I prefer the first and middle stat-lines personally.
Brittle Jade: I get the idea, and it's a good one to build Jades up, but I'm gonna be honest, this card should not be submitted for two reasons: 1. When people make Jade Golems, they want them on the board. To summon two of them just to destroy them afterwards sets them behind as they need those Jades on the board. 2. People are sick of Jades. They've been sick of Jades the moment they were introduced. So I don't see this getting far.
Venomtail Scorpid: That I think should be your submission. This is the most exciting card for me being a Hunter main. Though, for it's effect I think it should be 4/7 instead of 4/8.
Deathseer's Dragon: This should not be a common. This effect is more in line with rares and epics, not commons. Also, you made this card grammatically incorrect just to fit it in the three lines rule. If the initial effect was bigger then three lines, then maybe you should do a different idea.
That's all I got. I'll have the final version of Flying Witch ready and on the first page of the Submission Topic tomorrow.

For some reason I thought Venomtail Scorpid was a Rogue card. Yeah as a Hunter card this should definitely be your submission Cogito.
Alright I'll be going to bed soon, and I'm leaning towards thr 6/6. Now one more time, just to spite @Zukuu, looking for feedback on which witch to use.

Hmm...I like the idea of him having higher Attack. I like it a lot, actually. 8/6 +3/+3 with the art on the right is now where I currently stand! And yeah, that's the flavor of him: Whisper of the Old Gods is a reckoning/final hour type of scenario, and this guy has basically jumped ship to the winning side lol. Divine Shields being popped is kind of akin to him converting more people/further abandoning the Light.
As for your cards:
Greedy Necrolyte: Gul'dan? I don't see the resemblance :^) I like the idea, and of the three I find the least fault with him (spoiler alert) so I'd say go with this one.
Hero of the Bastion: I honestly can't decide if I like the card, or I hate it. On the surface he seems fine, but he's arguably one of the hardest "soft" Taunts I've ever seen, and he would be disgusting in the hands of the Priest.
Lost Voyager: The thing is, Obsidian Destroyer creates a token that needs no other explanation; it's a 1/1 with Taunt, and that's all. Lost Crew is a complex token, by comparison, and I don't think that's okay for a Common.

Gnome Smuggler summons Barrels, which, of course, contain 1/3 Hidden Gnomes. Note that Karazhan Librarian adds the spell Silence to your hand. Hearthcards auto-bolds that.

I prefer Haughty Champion: the name goes well with the effect, and he's a respectable minion (I'd certainly consider using him in place of Tar Lord). Karazhan Librarian is fine; I don't find it particularly interesting. It might be easier to drop the idea, so you don't have to worry about the bolded Silence mistake. Lastly, I'm not a fan of Gnome Smuggler, in-part for the same reasoning I gave for @AxletheBeast: I'm not comfortable with a Common creating a token that needs explanation. This one even goes a step further, creating a token that creates more tokens; that could be an amusing gimmick on a Legendary card or a silly spell, but a Common? I don't see it. How many people even remember where the Barrels come from?
The Tutorial, for those who don't remember (which is I'm guessing 95% of you).

I think the bottom art is the coolest, but that face is kind of trolly on the top-right lol. You almost have to go with that one, and lean-in for maximum memery.

@ Linkblade: as to your converted knight, I like the art on Puresteel Paladin (MtG) but it may be too wide for the frame: link.
Cool, thanks :) This is what that would look like, next to one I'm currently considering:
I think I'll stick with mine, if-only because I like his arms being up; kind of gives off the impression that he's renouncing the Light. It's that or he's like "Fuck this, we've lost! ggez Old Gods: 1, Light: 0" lol
Definitely saving that MtG art for laterz, though :)

Thanks to both of you, ThisOtherGuyTox and Linkblade 91. Yes, that art is pretty bad. Best WoW picture of a Chimaera I managed to find was this one, which allows the two heads in one frame to go with the double damage mechanic. Have never been so aware of how small the artframe on Hearthstone cards is before.

@ ThisOtherGuy: I actually like Giant Sandbeast. Solid Arena pick for hunter that fits in with Ram Wrangler and related cards. Flavorwise, you may think about dropping 'beast' from the name since it isn't itself a beast (Sand Stomper is the first thing that came to my mind but there are better names for sure).
Taking a screenshot from WoW is a terrible idea. As it does not reflect how actual Hearthstone cards look, and screenshots usually look very flawed.
I know the Sandbeast should be a Beast. It was a mistake, although it dosn't really matter since i have decided on what card i want to submit.

I want a new title, but Flux won't let me have one,
As was (cruelly :P) pointed out to me, "Giants" are all Epic cards.
