Arthas Menethil, the Lich King, didn't remain idle while the invaders participated in their Grand Tournament, preparing to vanquish him. Instead, the death knight decided to host a competition of his own. The fiercest among the undead have gathered at Icecrown Citadel, ready to ravage, kill and destroy, to prove themselves and earn the ultimate honor- to lead the armies of the Lich King into battle and purge Northrend from the forces of the living!
This expansion is all about the undead and their version of the Grand Tournament. Most of the minions will be either undead or servants of the Cult of the Damned, all slaves of the Lich King's will. Spells will represent the dark and powerful lich magic.
However, there is always light in the darkness- as the Grand Tournament and the Spectral Trials are mere miles away from eachother, of course there'd be undercover members of the Argent Crusade at the Citadel, attempting to sabotage the Trials and secure victory for the living. Yet it is unclear whether they would be succesful... will the undead be defeated or will the Lich King rule over all of Azeroth with an iron fist?
May the Trials begin!
Who needs Justicar Trueheart to be the seneschal of your tournament when you've got Lady Deathwhisper? While not gifted with amazing power by herself, her magic allows her to steal her opponent's skills and use their might against them. She'd be a powerful tool in many decks, allowing you to counter enemy minions with strong effects like Tirion Fordring and Edwin VanCleef.
New mechanic!
The undead aren't great team players, but they sure know how to take advantage of the power of others. Death fuels the dark magic of the Plague and gives them strength. Here are some minions utilising this new mechanic:
To clarify: scavenge also has some sub-mechanics. The basic scavenge triggers whenever ANY minion besides the minion with the effect itself dies. Adding a word in brackets limits the range of the mechanic: for an example, Shadow Cultist only triggers whenever a friendly minion dies.
Priest has gone down a dark path with this expansion... tempted by the lich Kel'Thuzad, several priests have begun to practice shadow magic and necromancy. However, there is still hope for the corrupted, as both the Forsaken and the living have sent undercover missionaries to bring the shadow priests back to the light.

With each update I'll give you a hint for a card to expect next time. Here's the first:
He promised he would return. He also is a cat person :).
Thank you, KillTheCow! I must admit I was inspired by your expansions for the layout, it indeed is much better than what I had for my previous expansion, so thanks for the inspiration, too!
Thank you, KillTheCow! I must admit I was inspired by your expansions for the layout, it indeed is much better than what I had for my previous expansion, so thanks for the inspiration, too!
PS: Can you figure out the hint :) ?
Well i wasn't the first to have a layout like that obviously, i think it's a pretty common layout to have and the most useful. So i'm not going to take any credit for that. And i believe i got the hint although i wonder how you're gonna bring him back since he already has a card right? However i'll see if i'm right when the next update rolls around. The hints are a nice idea though :)
Hello guys, I'm back! With this update you'll be getting a lot of priest cards, supporting the currently sub-par Control Priest archetype. I'll reveal the card from the hint first. As many of you have probably guessed, it is none other than the ultimate foe of all interlopers, Kel'Thuzad!
Just as he promised, the archlich has returned, though this time not as a neutral but as a poweful value engine for priest. If left unchecked, Kel could raise an army of dead minions all by himself, just like the original, meaning this is a must-kill for the enemy. However, unlike the original Kel'Thuzad, you would need some cheap spells to trigger the lichlord, so here are some of those, too:
OK, I know the last one isn't a spell, but it's a good way to get more spells :). However, cheap spells still aren't enough to make the new Kel'Thuzad good. You need some good minions to revive too, right? Deathrattles are usually the best minions to revive, so I made sure this set came with plenty of those:
That was all for now! I would love to hear your opinions on the cards in the comments! Oh, wait. One last thing:
Hint:
He's Mad Scientist's role model. However, he nearly got kicked out from the Trials after blowing up the Plagueworks.
I like the idea for Priests here! Overall another bunch of amazing cards as usual!
But just a few things though...
I'm a little concerned about Kel'Thuzad since unlike the original you can immediatly gain tons of value from it especialy when comboed with Twisted Projection and cards like Power Word: Shield but he's probally fine.
Twisted Projection might also be fine if it doesn't die at the end of your turn since a 1/1 is really easy to deal with.
Forsken Librarian is deffinetly a card that concernes me balance wise since there isn't a good 2 drop for Priests and then there's this. This card is insanely good in itself and most of all compared to cards like Loot Hoarder and Devoted Acolyte. And even though they're both neutrals i feel for Priest it might be a little to good since it's arguably better than draw a card. Mabey a 2/2 could be better but again that's up to you i might be wrong on this one.
Though all 12 cards look really nice and i like Soul Harvester in particular. I'm exited what sort of synergies you're gonna do with the Scavange mechanic!
Feedback greatly appreciated! You are right about Kel'Thuzad- it is easier to gain value out of him, but it has to be turn 10. Also, you aren't guaranteed to highroll on the minions summonned- you might just get stuff like Northshire Cleric or Onyx Bishop, both of which would no doubt be run in the version of Control Priest I'm pushing.
On Twisted Projection- I purposefully added the drawback of dying at the end of the turn to balance it, since the card has enormous potential in priest, with all those deathrattles and 'whenever you cast a spell' effects. Besides, it's a cheap spell so it doubles as an activator. On the other hand, it is also kind of an upside, as you can instantly gain value from deathrattles, Feign Death style.
You are absolutely correct, Forsaken Librarian is a bit unbalanced and I would never have thought to create a minion so powerful... at least before Un'Goro launched and Arcanologist was revealed. Compared to that card, the Librarian is OK, maybe even a bit weaker, as it has the same stats and a bit worse effect: Arcanologist allows you to tutor a secret on demand, while with the Librarian you have to kill the minion first to get your spell. Overall, I think its power level is acceptable and wouldn't break the game any more than Arcanologist did.
12 new cards, featuring an Icecrown Citadel raid boss!
I'm back and it's time for another update! Today I'll be adding a bit of everything- deathrattles, combo cards, scavenges, as well as minions with totally new effects, unseen before! As always, I'll start with the minion from the hint, which Otovent correctly guessed to be none other than Professor Putricide!
The professor specialises in creating powerful potions, similar to Kazakus. His tonic, while not good for drinking, can provide you with a powerful advantage later in the game. Just like Emperor Thaurissan, the Professor's purpose is to enable combos that are over 10 mana. The professor and his tonic also have an additonal use: enabling strong miracle turns with Gadgetzan Auctioneer (no Primordial Glyph, Lyra the Sunshard or Archmage Antonidas shenanigans though).
The professor doesn't only create potions in his lab though... Arthas has tasked him with creating horrible monstrosities for the upcoming battle. And Putricide has delivered:
All scientists need assistants! Putricide is no exception and has also employed some... though some are spies and some always mess up the mana cost of his tonic:
Finally, here are some more participants of the Spectral Trials:
Game: There is a combo piece hidden in the above 6 cards? Can you discover it?
Hint for next time:
Today you're in for a treat! This hint is double, meaning it hints not only one, but two cards I will reveal with the following update! Here it is:
The Northrend weather forecast for this week: stormy with a chance of bones. NOT good conditions for cartographic expeditions!
Sorry guys, I know it has been a while but I'm not ready with the next update just yet. I'm working on it and you can expect it a day or two from now. By the way, the cards hinted in my last post won't show up now but in the next update. However until then, here are 4 new cards:
Zaros is a fierce lich, whose necromancy skills allow him to revive with ease. The card serves a double purpose- it's a sort of immortal 1/1 minion like Dreadsteed, but not quite, as you aren't guaranteed an attack on your turn (like Sherazin, Corpse Flower, if revived on your turn it will have to wait a turn to attack). Its other use is being a source of pseudo-permanent spell damage, but you have to be careful and cast your damaging spell first, since non-damaging spells like Arcane Intellect can also resurrect him, losing you the spell damage for this turn.
