Wolves in the Woods A Special Edition Card Design Competition
Hello everybody! In addition to our regular competition this week, we're also running a competition in honour of our last class design competition winner, the 'Worgen Class' which won 'Asylum's Gauntlet', our third class creation competition. It's time for you to help out the Worgen expidition with an Un'goro card of your own!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
Your card must be a Worgen class card. To see the existing Worgen class in its entirety, click on the delightful banner above.
Your card must use the Worgen class's card border. In Hearthcards.net, you can find this by clicking "Custom Classes" (directly to the right of "2. Choose a Class") and selecting "Worgen Hero by Mokthol", third down on the far right.
Your card must be a Journey to Un'goro card.
Your card cannot be a Quest card, as the Worgen class already has one.
In addition to these restrictions, the class's creator, nurgling13, has already created the class Quest for the expansion, to perhaps help guide you in what kind of cards you might create.
They also offered some insight and direction into how to go about designing cards for the Worgen class, which can be found in the spoiler below.
Lorewise, the idea here is that the Worgen are searching for a long-lost shrine to Goldrinn in Un’goro crater, from the days of the Druids of the Pack. They believe that the shrine holds the key to better controlling their Worgen curse. The Quest represents the Worgen assembling the expedition, and the effects on Echo of Goldrinn, who they summon once they find the Shrine, represent an improved shapeshift.
I also wanted to mention the design space limitations of the class. First, the Classic Legendary is important to keep in mind both for the Quest, and for designing cards with the Worgen keyword in general. It lets you start the game in Worgen form, as opposed to the default start of Human form, which I thought was a basic need for allowing different archetypes for the class. Also, it’s worded so that it makes Worgen effects trigger twice while in Worgen form, and once while in Human form. The former is really important for design. I purposefully designed and worded all of the Worgen effects so that it makes sense for them to trigger twice. It’s not essential that every Worgen effect be this way, but it’s a good idea.
While it would not be in the Standard at the same time as any new cards, people should keep in mind the TGT Legendary when designing cards, too. It allows you to use your hero power any number of times in a turn, so you don’t want to make any effects that set your hero power cost to (0) for an unlimited number of times.
Worgen also has several cards that double damage. I tried to design them in ways where they couldn’t easily enable OTKs, but you should make sure you don’t have any OP interactions with them.
Lastly, people shouldn't make Genn Greymane as a card, since I've already decided he's an alternate hero for the class. I know people might be tempted to, although I'm not sure how many people will try.
Finally, for those of you who don't want to look through the entire class, the cards which feature the unique class mechanic are listed below - or at least, the Standard ones - so you can use those as a baseline for balancing cards around, or to get a general feel for what you're creating. I'd strongly suggest looking at the entire class though, as not only is it very well put together it will also give you a better idea of what you might like to make.

You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like! Voting Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 24/April/2017, Ends 20:00 UTC 25/April/2017) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites! Final Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 25/April/2017, Ends 20:00 UTC 26/April/2017) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!
Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
This is my initial concept. The Worgen effect is a little better than standard and more aggressive, the Human effect is a little worse than standard and more supportive, and it uses both keywords so it always progresses the Quest.
Nice! I really liked Nurgling's Worgen class. It easily stood out from round 1 as something novel and fun.
Hey @Nurgling13, did you have any particular idea in mind for the Un'Goro "tribe" that Worgen would be associated with, that is: do they have Dinosaurs, Elementals, Plants, Tortollans or Murlocs?

My idea was they aren't really associated with any of those. The theme is the expedition, so they're bringing their own explorer-type people into Un'goro, mostly. Maybe befriending a few natives here and there.
I'm not gonna submit one, but here's a card idea I came up with:
Too afraid to lose your own custom class competition? hehehe ;)
I'm afraid to win it. It seems like kind of a dick move to win, like, your own competition, you know? People might vote for my card because it's my class.

Cool, none of the classes this expansion really cared about the explorers, the focus was mainly on the creatures within ungoro. It'll be neat to focus on those instead.
This feels pretty obvious to me since we got the actual quest card above, but should we add "cannot be a quest" to the rules? I imagine we'll see a few xD

Yes, I suppose I should add it, just in case people only see the Submission Topic. Can never be too careful!
Since we don't really know what mechanics this class would use in Un'goro I decided to make a card that uses both Elementals and Adapt. Hopefully the balance is right :D

Basically, your Human effects can trigger if you're in Worgen form, and your Worgen effects can trigger if you're in Human form. If they have both, they activate both, so this is kinda like Fandral Staghelm in a way.
Would this card work, or would there be too many cards like Judgement with really weird interactions?

This card is really similar to the existing Classic Legendary, which has a similar effect that only effects Worgen cards.

It helps complete the quest, and it's a three-way pun. I couldn't find any decent art for it, though...
I'm excited to see what other people come up with.

CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)

I can't recall if you've created a similar card. Does this capture the essence of Un'Goro?
A double effect with the possibility to be a removal for enemy minions. You can use this spell both enemy minions and your minions
