How much is druid really interested in a 'smite' effect when they already have access to Claw which doesn't see play? Is a slightly better claw really what druid wants?
Claw is an mediocre card, Zombie Chow is only really good in aggro match ups, this card has a similar use to both but is more flexible than either. It might not shine in those decks but its still a useful card to them.
Might see more combo decks running 1 Violet Teacher, already a reasonable card to play, running 1 of these too gives it even more value.
Slow meta - Use Wrath. Quick meta - Use Living Roots. SUPER DUPER QUICK META - Use both and drop something rampy.
Simple as that I think.
except that you can always hold it to combo with Cenarius, or when you desperately need 2 damage. You underestimate the versatility of the card and what it can do in the late game. Drop the 1/1s behind a belcher to go for a Savage Roar kill without Force of Nature.
I don't underestimate the card at all, I like the card - but I wouldn't take it over Wrath in a slow deck. The question then becomes what else do you drop for it in a proper Ramp Druid?
Yeah I feel like the two 1/1's on turn 1 is very strong sometimes. I often find myself in one of two scenarios against fast decks: 1) opponent opens with 2/1's 2) opponent hasn't played anything yet and I want to play Wild Growth (/Darnassus Aspirant) on turn 2. Preemptively, the 2 1/1's might deal with the opponents two-drop!

The power creep is real.

Versatility is why I like Druid anyway!
Last deck I got to legend with: Oil/Miracle-Tempo/Control Rogue!
