Two of this card + Lava Shock = Sprint with 6 mana + 2 damage
Good.
Hah, may sound good on paper, but remember. You are talking about an unlikely situation, also you're using up 3 card-slots, while Sprint is only 1 card, and the 2 dmg wont likely matter.
On second thought this card isn't too bad. You usually don't run out of cards early so this is late game card draw and if you're on turn 8 and out of options then digging two cards into your deck can help you out a great deal. Also you can play chromagus and then use this card to get 4 cards. I'm currently running one mana tide totem and the benefit that this has over mana tide is of course that you draw cards on your turn not at the end of your turn, even without looking for something specific that can give you more options faster than mana tide so I might try it as a replacement for mana tide when TGT drops. I think the overload is a bit much though, that might just kill the card. There a huge difference between 1 overload and 2 overload. That 2 overload cost pretty much relegated this card to late game only status whereas 1 overload would push it towards mid game, which is where Shaman does best.
Overload 2 is just too steep of a cost for me to bother trying to fit this into my shaman deck. As has been said, it's too costly to use it early, and midgame you're establishing presence...While Shaman HAS needed drawing mechanics that're solid and reliable, this is simply not the answer. Lava SHock won't solve the problem either, because if you're using it late game you're gonna do what, 2 damage to a heavy minion?
Actually it is not that steep of a card. Shaman is a class that would actually be dominant right now if it had really good card draw because it has so many answers that can be weaved in all game. Pro players even have said that if shaman could cycle their deck well on a consistent basis then they would always likely be tier one. Blizzard is making the right move here because they want to move the game into a slow pace which this promotes. The overload looks bad but shaman have got some pretty powerful early game class minions now so more than likely a player will not need the card draw in the early game because they should be commanding the board with cards like Totem Golem.
You can't legitly compare class specific cards from one class to another.
Why not? Seems completely reasonable to compare one card that is nothing but card draw to another card that is nothing but card draw, where both provide the same draw.

Riosix's assertion is legit. The class does matter... if Execute was in Mage or Rogue, that would be insane. Shamans can't get perfectly priced draw because a Shaman tempo deck would be way too strong otherwise... Fire Elemental, Hex etc. are unmatched in terms of tempo.
It's balanced. All the classes have their weaknesses.
Shaman just have all of them...
I can't believe they haven't learned how bad overload is.Why cant this be something like 4 mana cost 2 less if you are overloaded or 4 mana cost 1 less for each overloaded mana crystal?

Because when building a deck you aren't choosing between the two, dark bomb for example is a stricly worse version of frostbolt, yet it still see's a lot of play in warlock decks. So just because one class card is better than the other doesn't mean the other won't be useful for that class. Personally I'm torn on this card, it's card draw so that's good, and midrange shaman doesn't start running out of cards till much later in the game(when the overload won't matter), it's also very cheap which is cool when you factor in how cheap most of shamans spells are so mid-late game you'll be able to play this to fish for an answer and still be able to play that answer.
The overload 2 does look scary, but that didn't stop lightning storm or doomhammer from seeing play so maybe tis'll work out. I'm just glad blizzard is trying to give us card draw, i took them 4 expansions but they finally realized we needed it.
This is not as good as it seems. Shaman want to use all of their mana on turn4,5,6 and 7 for one strong creature. You cant play it earlier either, because you would loose total board control. So this card will be played after turn 7, where most games with shaman are already decided. It might see play, but it wont save Shaman.
I absolutely Agree that this card will not be played after T7, at least it will lose you a lot of tempo and board control if you would. But man, the "turn 7, where most games with shaman are already decided." is a very false statement. I am an experienced Shaman player (only gold class), and let me tell you, I've pulled of uncountable comebacks against Hunters, Warriors et.c. So having this as a 1 of in a control deck, begin able to top-deck a Antique Healbot or Lightning Storm is absolutely great!
I havent played that much midrange Shaman before GVG, so you might be right. But even in that case you might as well play a neptulon or boom or some other high cost legendary over this, since you want to use it when you run out of steam. The question is: How often do you run out of steam after turn 7, when the game is not decided yet, AND if Mana tide totem is not better in that case?

I'm gonna be a little skeptical about this card. It will see play, sure, even as a one of (replacing Manatide Totem?). However, because of this card, I really am WISHING AS F*CK that they release another card similar to Lava Shock. So far we have seen 5 cards out of 8 if they follow the same format as GvG. One will be the class legendary, the other one will probably be a weapon, so we can hope to see another spell. If we see another "unlock your Overloaded Mana Crytals" text in either the weapon or spell, then we can now build a completely viable Overload deck.
And this confirms it once again Shaman are third class citizens...a worst Arcane intellect, why 2 overload?

If only the the overload was 1 mana : \
Not viable at all.

On arena it's not bad, when you are in topdeck mode it can actually win you the game.
Wow, never actually thought about that. This makes shaman one of the few classes able to draw cards on the turn Chromaggus is played.
There's no real reason for this to not be Overload (1). 3 mana to draw 2 cards is the established norm. What the hell?
Shaman just have all of them...

What?
Made my day XD
I still believe Ancestral Knowledge is basically a card that compensates one weakness all the while making another heavier yet.

Best card: Malygos
I am conflicted.
Shaman NEEDS draw. Draw is the key to coming closer to letting us use our class legendary: Al'Akir with Emperor Thaurissan.
It's on the level of Solemn Vigil. It gets better with lava shock but i'm still conflicted.
It's not meant to be used early game. It's an easy way to lose the game by doing that in your first 4 turns for sure.
It's amazing past turn 6 because most shaman decks don't have anything past turn 5 other than Doomhammer rockbiter combo.
It will be played.
This is not a card designed to be played on curve. Once you realize that, it becomes much better as a one-of in any late-game Shaman deck.
Will definitely experiment with this one.
