I said this at the beginning of the thread, but a lot of people just do not get it.
This card is not about dumping your hand to "Lol draw" with card. Its about a 2 mana 3 damage spell. Ignore the last part of the card, and think about it from that light.
Lets say Hunters had a choice between having this card or if they were allowed to use Frostbolt. I would pick this card every time for my face hunter. This card is probably the best finisher card Hunters can hope for because at turn 7 this has the upward potential of doing 5-11 damage depending on your draw. At that point of the game for face tard, that is all they most likely need to finish the game in most cases. This card is staple face tard for sure. This is an arguably better wolfrider in the fact that it this card can always hit face and costs 1 mana less, where the chargers can't if there is a taunt up and no owl insight.
However, that does not mean this card is horrible in other variations of hunter. In fact, its good in pretty much any type of hunter. The problem is is that is also good in face tard, so yeah....
Like someone else said. Frostbolt is run in every mage deck. Mech mage uses it which is also a heavy aggro deck, and most of the time the freeze part is not needed. Hell, if I to choose between these two cards, I would choose Quick Shot over Frostbolt in my Mech mage. Darkbomb is run in a lot of Warlock decks as well. The point of the card is 2 mana 3 damage.

Here's the thing. People are saying this card is basically ONLY for rush/face Hunters and you are saying the card is fine in any sort of deck, similar to how Frost Bolt is for Mage. I have to disagree with you on that. The GP is correct, this is purely a rush card and it really can't be run in any sort of mid-range to late game Hunter deck. No control deck can be without cards, it just goes against the very nature of how a control deck is played. Most mid-range decks...also can not be without cards. If you are without cards then you are either pushing for face lethal or you are going to lose the game, period. You can not compete for board with no cards, it just can't be done. This card, is BAD for a non-face deck because you are never going to be without cards and thus will rarely ever get the combo'ed effect.
3dmg for 2mana can not be viable for the Hunter class without that 2nd effect. It's viable for a class like Mage because the freezing effect will always happen. If the freezing effect only happened when your hand was empty, then it wouldn't be the auto-include that it currently is. Just like Wrath wouldn't be an auto-include if you couldn't also have the choice of that 2nd effect. It works for Warlock only because Warlock has that insane hero power to compensate for having double-edged or just bad class cards. You know what Hunter is lacking right now, card draw. No cards = no win. So for a deck like Mid-Range Hunter to have a chance, every card has be a powerhouse card or draw a card. Companions, Mad Scientist, Bow, Highmaynes, UTH, etc. There's no way with limited card draw that a 3dmg spell with no 2nd effect will get a slot. And that is why it's purely a face rush card.
I swear I've seen so many people complain "OH MY GOSH IT'S JUST A STRONGER DARK BOMB!" without actually realizing that all along most warlock class cards have been weaker just because of warlock's insane hero power. When dark bomb came out no one complained frost bolt was op. So the guys complaining that it's a stronger dark bomb, you're missing the point. The point of this card is yes although it does the same amount of damage as dark bomb for the same mana, if the hunter's hand is empty (which is quite easy to accomplish) then the hunter can draw into more potential damage. I'm sure even if this card was 2 mana 2 damage draw a card if hand is empty hunters would still play it just because the potential for more reach is there. Face hunter from a few seasons back used to play Loot Hoarder for the deathrattle and cheap card draw, which is a testament to how badly face hunters need cards around turn 5 and on.
this card enables control hunter. its the 2 mana 3 damage removal hunter was so lacking for his control deck. sure its an extra powerful tool for face hunter but i dont really care. maybe face hunter needs to exist to bring balance between deck types especially after BRM. because from my point of view if face hunter didnt exist i would never play a taunt in my deck after BRM. so maybe my old taunt-ramp druid still has a chance in the future meta. but seriously i believe that dragon paladin for example is on a different level compared to the other midrange or control decks so it has to have a weak matchup. paladin just got druids ramping abilities which we all know how powerful they are + all his paladin abilities, so he is pretty scary imo. also face hunter is still the "poor" player option to win as quick shot is given to you from the first wing. face hunter got 1 tool but other classes like shaman, priest and paladin got a tremendous boost from BRM so i think its fair.
What exactly was the point in Steamwheedle Sniper then? I thought they wanted hunter to move away from face grabage... I picture there is an ogre as the head designer at blizzard:
"Sir, these are our latest concepts for the new hunter cards."
"What this be? Where damage cards? Why no face?"
"Sir, people are complaining about the lack in variety in huntards, as they only hit face and never play actually the game. So we made some that are good at board control..."
"ME NO LIKE! HUNTER BEST CLASS EVER! HIT FACE! HIT HARD! HIT HARDEST! SMASH! SMASH! Either me get smash cards or you get SMASHED!"
"What about a card that does damage to face and draws cards if happened to have vomited them all out before?"
"GOOD ONE! ME LIKE! ME SMASH!"
Steamwheedle Sniper is unreliable and it gets value only if you play it on turn 4 and after. by turn 4 an aggro deck will already flood the board with cheap minions. they created a card which benefits 2 types of hunter at the same time so i dont really see what the problem is.
If hunters want face damage or rush somebody down, Glaivezooka is better, I doubt this will be in the main hunter archetypes that exist today, I could be wrong, but, that's what it looks like to me.
I see this and Core Rager as a way for hunters to play accelerated control decks....not the typical control decks other classes play since hunters have the worst card draw, but hopefully go all in for a final push and win.

you thought wrong than. They want, as for any other class, give hunters opportunity to choose what kind of deck to play. And they give snipers, gahzrillas, faint death etc. This dosen't mean they would stop print face hunter cards.
The problem for me isn't the strength of this card; it is the kind if play-style it incentivizes. It encourages a strategy where you dump your entire hand as hunter to try to fish for the last few points of damage when your opponent has gotten card advantage. It leads to situations where your only chance as a face hunter is to play this card and hope to draw into more face damage. A good draw like that won't happen all the time, but when it does it will feel random and frustrating for your opponent, and random and non-skill-based for yourself.
I don't see how any one can say this is purely a rush card, contrary to popular belief mid-range Hunter can/will make use of a 2 mana, 3 damage removal card with the added draw being a bonus here or there in top deck mode, anything that removes Zombie Chow on T2 is a big deal.

ill try this in my midrange hunter(im not really a big fan of face hunter)
I will try this card even if didn't have the draw ability. I will love to see more tools for a control hunter, and this draw mechanic makes so favorable for very aggro hunters...
I can already see the turn 2 Quick Shot to the face because they had nothing else to play to damage my face with...even if they dont get the card. IMO a retarded card from Blizzard. Last expansion they tried to make control/midrange more attractive and now this again which only promotes more face aggression by emptying their hands.
Why would you play this turn 2 to deal 3 damage if you can heropower and deal 2 lol? No seriously I don't see this card making face hunters much better, it just remains as strong. Also if you face too many Face-Hunter use healing bot- works pretty well for me. My guess is that the new 2 hunter cards are all about zoo. Zoo is the kind of deck where you throw shit on the board and go face, Face Hunters don't just throw shit on the board, they have too many good cards to bypass taunts and big minions to just throw them away.

I don't think very highly of face huntards, as you may have discovered, but of course it was an exaggeration to illustrate some of the plays some face hunter players make just to get the turn 6 kill. As a Warrior and Priest player I mostly have no problems with face hunter though, I just think that their playstyle is the opposite of fun interactive gaming.
Yeah I agree, Face-Hunter is just a boring deck to play. I personally play Death-Rattle focused control hunter which is a lot more fun to play but it's less powerful. I only play games for fun and powerful decks aren't always fun.

First let me pray for all of you because you really don't get it. You can not evaluate this card without looking at the others cards coming to game and where this is expansion is pushing the meta. Blizzard is trying to push board interaction as much as possible and the best way to do that is to create the most mid-range tools possible for each class and drive that motive which they are. For all those screaming face hunter what will you take out to put this card in and why???
I feel like everyone who is crying about this card does not actually play hunter because the reason face hunter came back was to beat out mech mage and oil rogue because we don't have consistent early game or mid-range tools to control the board so we might as well race the enemy down. If you are a true hunter player then you want to play mid-range hunter and control hunter these types of hunter decks don't cut it on ladder really most of the time or at all. This card is pushing hunters to play those styles. Also if you play hunter you would know how @#$###$ hard it is to handle a [ Cleric, Chow, Mini Bot, Juggler, Flame Imp, Chugger, Warper, Shredder.... etc] because we don't have value minions that contest these strong early drops like other classes. The meta will be changing and it will slow down and face hunter will still be a thing but must deck as I see this expansion will be able to handle it quite will.
ps. The the draw effect of this card is a bonus a BONUS i tell you. It's there in my opinion to help out the mid-range decks reach if needed the value of this card is its ability to handle those strong early drops I talked about. I would rather use it for board control then to hit face or wait to be able to draw a card duh!
How would you feel if about Quick Shot saying deal 3 damage to a minion. If your hand is empty, draw a card. Following the design of cards like Shadow Bolt, Wrath or Starfall?
I am asking because I think most players are not frustrated with the strength of hunter, but rather with those hunter decks that prioritize face damage over board interaction and minion trading. A card with wording like this would actively encourage hunter players to focus on board control and in fact I would not be surprised if non-hunter players would be fine with this, even if the card got slightly stronger, maybe dealing 3-4 damage instead of 3.

thing is, hunter dont have a problem to handle 3 hp minions, because of bow. Dont see a reason to rush and discard potential card draw from this card, if i just can use face to kill a minion.
When I talk about value minions, I am talking about value minions that contest the board or give an effect that the oppent wants to deal with. Sure webspinner is great but it just dies and then you have to pay mana to play the minion you got which is fine if its not some weak beast or a card that well help fill the curve. Sure scientist is also great but it does not trade with many things and it is not played in control and even some mid-range because we like to control when we play the trap and what will trigger in. Again these cards do not trade with the list I mentioned before and that why you see so many hunters saying forget and go face because they can trade. Companion is good to but is a spell that gives you a beast that is random and may not suit your needs is at the time of play can sometimes lose you the game.
@lionoffrost I would not mind that txt change but I think blizzard more than likely play tested this card heavy because they know how the community fill about hunter.
