Actually, I think the idea is that it's an Aggro card. Basically he's meant to go TO THE FACE all day every day.
Thus, drop him, drop pirate. Next turn, FACE, drop pirate. repeat. When you don't have a pirate, he stays in stealth. If there's a scent of AoE, just trade. Note he's a 2 drop so he can kill 4 health creatures with ease and with that 1/1 pirate buffer nuke yetis.
Pretty bad. Even if you are able to give it stealth it is basically just a delayed 2 mana "Deal 4 damage" because this won't survive anything.Having a Pirate tag doesn't help it enough
Does it get stealth when it summons itself, since it is a pirate? If it does I guess it could be playable, if not it's a bad card until there are enough pirates to make a competitive deck full of them.
Yes, your opponent is doing things and an AoE will ruin your day but in the meantime you're dishing out the pain while giving your opponent other targets, like the Ship's Cannon, that are just as much priority as the One-eyed Cheat.
The Southsea Captainmakes him even better but he doesn't need the Captain in order to become a thorn in your opponent's side. He just needs you to be churning out pirates every turn like clockwork. With four 1-cost pirates (2 x Bloodsail Corsair, 2 x Southsea Deckhand) and two 2-cost pirates (2 x Bloodsail Raider) plus low-cost Dread Corsairs (if you pump up your daggers) that should not be an insurmountable challenge.
He suffers greatly from Wild Pyromancer. Any 2-damage spell on the Ship's Cannon and he's done with it. Beyond that, there aren't a lot of early AOE options to deal with a minion in stealth
Talk about this card

Arrr matey! Weak against AoE, but its synergy with pirates might make this an above average card.

Aggro pirate deck will use him well.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Hmm... This is a turn 2 card that you don't want to play on turn 2, and you don't want to get hit by AOE. Not sure how good it's going to be, imo.
You have to play him with Southsea Captain, so that's turn 5. It's definitely awkward, requiring card slots to get any use out of him.

Only way this card works is if you drop this one turn 2 and turn 3 Captain..Even then it dies to a 2 drop and many other things..its just bad.
You can't look at this card in isolation. It runs as part of a well-oiled buccaneering machine.
T2: Ship's Cannon
T3: One-eyed Cheat, Bloodsail Corsair (4 pts of damage from the cannon, One-eyed Cheat is stealthed)
T4: Any zero/one-cost spell, Cold Blood -> One-eyed Cheat, any one/two-drop pirate (8 damage from One-eyed Cheat, who is now stealthed with 8 str. 2-4 damage from the Ship's Cannon, plus some gravy pirate minion damage.)
T5: Attack, drop a cheap pirate, One-eyed Cheat goes stealthy, rinse, repeat.

Rogue pirate deck. I can't wait for that. This guy, ship's cannon, and salty dog are all going straight in.
