Yeah, this is all OTK potential. The value is not good enough because taking a turn off to do nothing is highly risky. You need Deathrattle or large minions to make summoning them worth it. This does nothing for Battlecry or Combo minions.
The obvious is Leeroy. But unlike the Spider cards I imagine this does not draw a card too, so I think this is not very good.
Empty your deck before play Leeroy is the only thing I see this being played but in the end rogue have better options, losing Vanish make Valeera only be able to play with tempo, this card is horrible in tempo, really, I don't understand why this is the same cost of the 4/4 with similar effect, 2 manas are enough.
The problem with cards like these is that I want it to copy Leeroy. But I don't need a 4-mana "do nothing" card to do that. As usual, I think some of the cool things that Rogue can do will be pushed aside for the very good tempo stuff that Rogue usually does.
This is a very long-game sort of card, which isn't usually rogue's style (outside of combo sort of decks like miracle - which basically wins in a single turn after drawing a lot - or something like Nomi/tempo, which is just going to draw the whole deck, but in that case they want strong tempo before using Myra's to finish off their opponent).
There's a fair bit of potential with it in terms of power level, but right now I can't see what deck it would fit into. I will say that it could work with either Jepetto or the new "set deathrattles to 1/1 for 1" cards if the cost and stat-setting isn't copied, which I'm going to guess it won't be based on other cards that summon copies like Carnivorous Cube.
I love cards like this, but I'm very skeptical of it being competitive worthy. It's very different from Faldorei Strider as that gave you a 4/4 body, making it an 'ok' tempo play immediately, and a big tempo boost if you hit any of the spiders.
Turn 9 you go Myra's. Turn 10, Mogu Cultist + Prep + Shadow of death x2 + Shiv and you summoned Ra. It could work in competitive if Ra did 30 damage, since in a deck like this, you won't be doing so much damage. Maybe you could run this with Mecha'thun and Chef Nomi for extra win conditions.
Do you draw an other card after the shadow sumonned the minion?
In the reveal video, that is exactly how it works.
Also, the Shadows are Spells while in your deck, if that's ever important to you.
Ok, if you draw a card after summoning the Shadow copy, then this card is an easy OTK once you empty your deck. The problem remains, can you do that in Rogue and survive?
Let's say it's turn 7 (and an empty deck) and you have Leeroy, Prep, Shadow Step and this new Shadow of Death card in hand.
Play Leeroy (5), attack for 6, Prep, Shadow of Death your Leeroy. Then Shadow Step your Leeroy, which now costs 3 mana.
When you draw next turn, you have 3 attacking Leeroys combined with the one in your hand for a total of 24 damage, and the 6 from earlier is 30 damage at the end of the game.
(If I did this thought experiment correctly)
Here is a question, does the Shadow copy of Leeroy copy Buffs? If so, Cold Blood on turn 9 for an amazing amount of damage.
I didnt think the Shadow would draw a card, didnt watch the reveal video. This changes how I see the card drastically.
Roughly the same amount of value (plus 1 copy, minus 4/6 body)
Wayyy less tempo
Ultimately the upsides don't make up for the big downside of not doing anything the turn you play it. So it's still worse than Cube, but not so much worse that it's unplayable. The deathrattle legendary is good, so we will probably see deathrattle Rogue played, so we will probably see this card played.
A blizzard combo deck requiring 2 cards, is a first and absurdity. I’ve never in my life seen a worse balanced expansion for any game. This expansion is full of toxic cards, toxic combos, and mind numbing losses. 19 reasons to run: 10 heal cards, 6 silence cards, and 14 taunts. The quests aren’t even close to balance across the 9 classes in power. I think I’ll just play play mech paly and spam more mechs then any class can handle then use a warrior quest that takes away life gain and puts a shit 4/3 on the board

Destroy your deck with Myra's Unstable Element, next turn copy in 6 Mogu Cultist and win with Highkeeper Ra!

this card shows how freaking good was fal'dorei strider

Yes, unless your hand is full and the card be burned.

Too slow
So much weaker.... U need a big minion on the bourd and than pay 4 mana for noting... But this card has an potation
This is obviously a meme card, but I like it.

Play the new rouge legendary and then play mechcuthun and cast this spell on it, then randomly summon a 10/10 3 times over the course of the game

This is basically a replacement for Carnivorous Cube so let's compare them:

This is a much better version of Entomb. huge potential in any rogue decks needing to deal with big threats on the board (aka all rogue decks)
Google search: Is Hearthstone free to play?
Combo or value have always been very good in any archetype, this will see game
It is mediocre for a class without heals and without board clears. It is too slow.
