Okay, so one search in the WoW's Tolvir pages mentioned that the bird-shaped headgear is like a status symbol, and is also what his original depiction in the game is wearing (Tolvir heads seems to always be beast-like by default?). So I can see that when he joined the league of evil, he felt the need to hide his status as the Dark Pharaoh to be less of a big red target for people to aim at.
Wow... 45% of hearthpwn thinks this card is meta-defining. Seriously? I've been playing zoo and ocationaly handlock since launch and i am 99% sure this card is not that good, it's fair, but miles away from being meta-defining good. Too slow for zoo, too clunky for control/hand, and with no obvious new warlock archetypes in range, unless they print a card similar to Lakkari Sacrifice reward that spawns lackeys, i cannot see this being played in standard. It reminds me of Scargil for some reason, alot of ppl were excited about it, turned out it's mediocre in standard.
pretty solid, least in standard. Zoo lock is where this goes and it's got the evil genius.
Not sure it's good enough right now as you're paying about 2 mana up front. You break even on your first lacky and probably need to play 2 to make it worth it.
If another card like evil genius is printed then this card becomes much better. I probably wouldn't run a mediocre card like cable rat just for this but who knows maybe that's good enough.
Meta-defining in the sense that zoo lock will start thinking of having as many lackey generating mechanics/minions as possible. With EVIL Recruiter as well, it seems zoo lock will start to have bigger minions that require some serious AoE to die.

I feel the same as you do. There are what, 6 ways to get lackey's for Warlock? If this was for Rogue it'd be bonkers, but I just don't think it's amazing either. Maybe future expansions will give Warlock more lackeys but for now I feel this will be a Tier 3 legendary.
After seeing the footage of the pre-release events, I would be inclined to shift my vote to "meta-defining" as well.
There are going to be all sorts of folks trying to make quest and highlander work (sometimes at the same time), and it looks as though your lackeys hitting the EVIL gym will go a long way to the staying power the zoo Lock deck needs.

After seeing this I was expecting them to give one or two lackey generating cards to warlock but they give nothing with rogue you can generate up to 20 lackeys with warlock it is only 6. This is like a buff to thief rogue

Ok can someone please explain to me why this is so good? I got it in a pack and I still haven't even bothered to play it, it just doesn't seem that great. Warlock doesn't have enough lackey generation and making them 4/4s I don't think will save you if you reach the late game. I've also never seen anyone else run this in any zoolock deck... soooooo?

If you play this early vs other aggro decks it is bonkers. The tempo you get from just one EVIL Genius into this is mental. You can suddenly drop 8/8 stats with 2 decent battlecries for 2 mana. Very strong in board focused matchups. Otherwise this card is average. Still worth playing in Zoo though.

If you are referring to the poll, please remember that that happened before the set was released. It reflects people's opinion of the card without ever having seen it in competitive play.

evil genius destroy a minion and you say it's big tempo?
it's really not the most impressive use of mana on turn 6, warlock's lackey generation are super limited still, and what happen if you play tekahn but didn't draw into any of your lackey, or vice versa? then you just have a fair, plain bread zoo deck, and fair play ain't gonna live long in this meta
it's laughable that there are still people who think this is a good warlock inclusion. Just play grim rally if stat matters so much. requiring sacrificing one minion on a big board is still much more reasonable than drawing into some specific card and being able to pay the price for it in both mana and tempo.

Yeah, but this one has a beak and from the dalaran heist just a mouth

Good old 47% meta-defining on Hearthpwn for a card that will never see play. Welcome to the Lady in White / chameleos family my friend.
Maybe 3rd expansion material
right now your better off not running it

It is seeing play in some zoolocks right now, but not a must craft. You can sub for Leeroy, zilliax or sea giant.
Playable.
Not as overpowered as I believed - there just isn't enough lackey generation in Warlock.
saw a lot more experimentation than I thought it would. Still thinks it's better not to run it.

People who thought this card was going to be good were clearly delusional.
It got dropped from Zoo two days after the x-pac hit.
Right now play a game with it.
