Only super aggressive decks will be able to beat them before they get to stabilize.
That seems inaccurate. If aggro is beating you, you have not built a proper control deck.
Control is threatened by midrange decks that have the resources to play around board clears and keep going.
Control decks don't always draw their board clears. Keep in mind that Hagatha's scheme is only good if you draw it early. Top decking Volcano is amazing (which you can't now in Standard). Top decking Hagatha's Scheme is terrible if you desperately need a board clear.
Lightning Storm doesnt do much against Token swarm and Buff decks. So what other board clears does Shaman have before turn 7 right now?

I'm not sure where this question is coming from. My comment was about the general relationship between aggro and control, not how to build a control deck in the Rise of Shadows meta specifically. BUT ...
When full board clears are lacking for a certain class, you have to rely on efficient single- and multiple-target removal like Thunderhead and Earth Shock. Lackeys are also a tremendous help in keeping an enemy board in check. These are ways the current Control Shaman gets by.
It's not a tier-1 deck, of course -- and that's partially because there aren't enough AOE spells at the moment.

I understand, this was not an attack directed at your or anyone. Control decks do indeed have different ways of getting to the late game, so they can enact their winning game plan. Some involve board clears. Some involve taunt minions and so forth. I would still like to see other decks move up in tiers in the next expansion though. Not necessarily Control Shaman, but any variety would be nice.
It is definitely one of the best board clears in the game, being able to outperform Twisting Nether and Psychic Scream in many situations says a lot about the power of this card.
But the design and cost are so far away from what Corrupt the Waters wants you to do (tempo out or smorc out your opponent) that I would not be surprised if Earthquake sees no play at all.
I think it's common that, when Blizzard releases a potentially very powerful new mechanic (like reborn), they often add a few cards in the same set that are designed to counter said mechanic. This is probably one of those cases. Great card against reborn minions - of which there will probably be a lot.
volcano is kinda better..but this card is only good vs deadrattle/reborn minion afertmath.
7 is to expensive to make 9 damage, volcano cost 5 and does 15.
I say its only good if u get it by some rng DIscover effect.
Awful opinion. Volcano made it so you couldn't even use hero power because then it'd become impossible to clear. This spell just works. Also, Volcano did not cost 5.
And where the heck do you get 9 dmg from? It never deals 9.
I really like this card. A very powerful board clear that further establishes Shaman as a control class and specifically targets token deathrattles. It's also nice to see that even after all these years another iconic Warcraft 3/WoW ability is finally added to Hearthstone.
The only problem with this is that there's not much of a reason to play Control Shaman. Survivability keeps improving, but Control Shaman has no real lategame plan or finishing move outside of "something unfair with Shudderwock", wich doesn't look great in Standard, and even worse in Wild right now.
But maybe one day. With what Shaman got from Rise of Shadows, it's already looking pretty solid for next year when Mad Genius will leave.
Already playing Control Shaman before the expansion is released and Token/Aggro are not a problem, I don't think this is needed over Hagatha's Scheme unless maybe 1-mana Deathrattle Rogue is a thing or Reborn Decks? It is powerful but expensive > Playable.
Definitely there will be shaman decks to use it. But it's just little too slow for auto including two copies of it.
So only "very good".
Control Shaman all the way through the next meta, oooooh yeah baby.

Very good board clear and its gonna be nice to get this from Hagatha.
This is a VERY strong card. It can clear minions up to 7 hp and clear minions that have deathrattle summon small minons.
Dragon fire potion was a really good aoe this one I think is a bit better worth the 1 mana for a 2nd round of 2 damage.

Jesus Christ, this is better than just killing reborn minions. Why is the HS community so bad at seeing the bigger picture? Snip Snap?
