Rafaam is better than Elise Starseeker, because he's faster and offers taunt on top of having a good stated body. As a control warlock player:
It's a totally dead card up until turn 7 and you can't play it whenever you want to like Elise. You're acting like there aren't a bunch of glaring negatives with this card.

I'm not acting, that Arch-Villain Rafaam doesn't have any weaknesses. Though I will admit, that I overrated him a bit in my first post. I guess the different PoVs are equally important:
- in terms of effect he is faster than Elise Starseeker. You don't have to search for the map and lose precious time, until you play the Golden Monkey, so he is a stronger inclusion in control versus control decks. - against aggressive ones he is more expensive than Elise and you risk losing your valuable removal tools, if you play him for the taunt.
So I'm not disregarding the last part, but unlike other classes warlock doesn't have any card draw problems. As long as we are not low on health, we can tap freely and fish for cheaper and less risky cards. I will argue, that with the recent Plot Twist inclusion Rafaam will become safer in the control lists. If you don't want to keep him in your hand, you can always get a new one. And while we are still using this example, I would like to bring up the potential Plot TwistAugmented Elekk infinite combo. If you keep shuffling your strong removals in your deck, at one point you can decide to replace them with potentially big legendaries and fulfill almost the same strategy as control warrior back in LoE. I know that this interaction needs to me tested first, but if it does work like the way I want, then Rafaam will certainly make your deck stronger.
Well, at least this will be the deck I will be playing next expansion. Some users (like jainaishot) prefer a lot more explosive turns and I believe, that they will be satisfied from the Omega AgentBarista Lynchen combo a lot more than the aforementioned one.
This card looks like it will also be played in Wild. This card is so good at multiple things.
Warlock and this counters the Warrior Bomb deck, the Hakkar decks and OTK decks.
This is a card that offers alot of options when to play it and why you would. You may not WANT to play it on turn 7, but what if Bomb Warrior has filled your deck with 5 bombs and they are about to play the new Dr. Boom Boom? You will likely die if you draw any extra cards or use Plot Twist.
This ensures that your Plot twist is not dead against Bombs. This goes the same for Hakkar decks. Once the Bloods get to a critical mass, you will die if you use Plot Twist. Best to play Rafaam and get extreme value.
Okay, so I know what you're thinking - this card is kinda bad. And yeah, it is. I mean, the legendaries are random. However, it's probably the most fun card I've ever seen in the game - just flat out, no conditions, change your deck. I'm sorry, but I LOVE this, and will be memeing it into all my warlock decks no matter what you people say. It's a last resort card. I love it.
Mad respect to another true meme deck builder out there. Its hard hearing all the fun cards are trash, i try to put nozdormu in as many decks as possible
I crafted this card in gold a few days ago, I think it was three days after expansion and it's been winning me so many games vs. Warrior and other control classes that I never would have won. I can turn all my unused spells and small minions into big, powerful legendary minions and outvalue my opponent. I tried it in my Renolock vs. my friend, but it's a bad card there because I lose my Reno, DK and N'zoth which are actually better wincons, but in standard, Rafaam is your main late game wincon if your midgame doesn't win you.

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
I play Renowarlock with Dk, N'zoth and Rafaam. I wonder when it is good to play Rafaam vs specific decks. When do you play it?
I see you have made this account back in 2014. If you remember the time in LoE control warriors played the Golden Monkey after already using their most valuable board clears and removals, i.e. after exhausting the enemy from their threats. After that they knew they could safely play the monkey and not get punished for it. In mirror matches people transformed their decks quicker than that, in order to pressure the opponent more. I don't know how good/bad Rafaam is in wild, but if you are planning to run him, then hold onto him, before you use your strongest defensive cards like Bloodreaver Gul'dan, Twisting Nether and the Kazakus's potions. If you have many strong deathrattle minions in the ress pool, you should try to play N'Zoth, the Corruptor prior to Rafaam as well.
Just to let you know - some people think Arch-Villain Rafaam's value is an overkill in Renolock and they don't include him there.
I dont think Rafaam is really good in Renolock. You cant play him if specific cards are still in your deck (Brand, Kazakus, Guldan, ..) and if you play him, youre kinda gambling to get good legendaries with the downside to not have any board clears (anymore) probably. :/
I've expected something more creative for this guy.
Something about stealing or villain gathering.
Actually, the effect makes perfect sense, especially in standard.I know Im late, but not only is this a golden monkey reference,if you consider only legendary minions in standard appear, this indicates all heroes and villains just showing up at dalaran for this big fight.Even in SoU and DoD,it still works as the minions from those expansions also begin to show up to signify these conflicts.

Very good card 7 mana cost for an 7/8 & taunt is really good, and have a great battlecry on point against control decks.

Are there any cards in Hearthstone that would trigger a minions Battlecry after the minion is already on board?
Really like this card.

Love this card, just sayin!

So I found that in Renolock Arch-Villain Rafaam is very helpful vs long term value decks like priest and warrior.
Now i want to test if running Lord Jaraxxus + Arch-Villain Rafaam could increase my winrates vs these decks, especially vs big priest.
Very good with Supreme Archaeology, as a 0 mana legendary can be a very good treat!
Wow, true victim of Internet Explorer
I saw this thread resurrect and heeded its' call, expecting either some new insight that everyone had missed... or something funny.
You delivered the funny, sir or ma'am, and for that I thank you.
