"As masters of Demons, Warlocks have long been a powerful board-control class. While we like that minion combat is as much a part of the Warlock’s identity as destructive magic, we want to acknowledge and embrace the class’s weaknesses when they lose control of the board. To that end, we want to limit the amount of damage a Warlock can deal from their hand. As a powerful Charge minion, Doomguard pushes against the Warlock class identity, so we are moving it into the Hall of Fame."
Haven't read the other moves but hopefully Leeroy is also included.
It is not.
I said this in another thread about the same issue: While I certainly wouldn't loose sleep over Leeroy, it's objectively worse than doomguard. Leeroy can't trade. Leeroy can't be played in a way that ignores it's negative battlecry. Leeroy isn't supported by tribal synergies.

Wow, I can't believe it, but this time I totally agree with you, 1xbenx1, hehe. :P
This is one I actually thought that would happen last year. Surprising that they've still done it, though they obviously already know what's coming next year. Maybe some disgustingly strong discard synergy cards.
Think this card was one of my first crafts (Zoo being my first completed deck) after all this years this card is finally leaving standard huh? I hope they introduce a demon that discards 2 cards into the classic set (Or rotate in Lakkari Felhound) to keep the same kind of discard synergy identity Doomguard has without charge.
Zoo will find a way of course it's one of the frequent (sometimes core) cards of zoo but many times zoolock ran Leeroy instead of doomguard, besides the main strength of zoo is life tap, it's the second time zoo gets a card HOF'ed but not because the card saw play in zoo, this time because of cubelock (they just don't want a similar combo to exist in the future) last time it was POW because of renolock 20 damage combo.
Stupid move unless there is a new cube style or discard card introduced. A 5 mana 5/7 charge with a bad battlecry is not broken. It doesn't even seem to be a design constraint because the 1 manna 1/3 when you discard draw was played alongside this and still wasn't so broken that people complained. I think since the devs already started gutting other Heroes they felt the need to do it to warlocks classics as well.
At first, i thought they were rotating Doomguard because of possible hand buff synergy cards they intend to release (since there is no point in creating a card like Hir'eek, the Bat without giving it any support) which would enable some really powerful combos for Warlock. Then i noticed that both Leeroy Jenkins and Faceless Manipulator are still a thing. So that's obviously not the reason. I don't know. I don't think Doomguard is an unfair card by itself. What made it unfair was the ability to cheat him out without being punished by his battlecry (Skull of the Man'ari and Possessed Lackey). Oh well. Let's wait and see what happens.
FFs finally, even since they Hofed PO i was thinking that they should have hofed doomguard instead because PO only works with either token generation or stupidly specific combos (ie: Leeroy+faceless+emperor or POING a minion+ copying stats withFaceless Shambler), but doomguard has been there forever and has been redonkously op all the time, it's not that he's broken beyond belief, he's just really really strong, but is that we got tired of facing him every single meta from every single expansion

Huh, I didn't think they'd actually do it. Neat.
This hurts me in a way that only warlock players can understand. This was the IRL Life Tap
This makes Leeroy feel more legendary, one of the few big damage chargers along side King Krush. I like it.
Football and games.

What makes Doomguard busted is cheating demons from other sources.
Agro became much faster over the years, so it makes sense for this guy to go.
Objection!!!

Welp, time to take my discardlock to wild
