You most likely know this already but it doesn't deal damage. It places an enchantment on the minions that sets their health to one. If the minion is silenced then it's health is restored to its original state. Let's say you are playing against an Even Warlock. They place a giant on turn 4 and it is behind the 2/4 taunt. Currently, you can use Equality + Pyro to get rid of such a big threat. With the mana increase you can set them to one health so you can kill them easily on the next turn. Them the warlock uses Spellbreaker on the giant and now it's an 8/8 again.
This is obviously a hypothetical situation that won't happen most of the time and using Equality + Pyro on just two minions is highly inefficient. But what i'm saying is that just throwing out the spell isn't guaranteed to yield you any results. The Consecration and Wild Pyromancer (and maybe Avenging Wrath) combos are the best ways to capitalize immediately on the spell. But now its insanely slow. You won't have enough time to deal with early pressure anymore. As i said, Pyromancer is too cheap but Paladin's don't have any other fast ways of dealing with early aggression right now. With it costing 6 mana and a whole turn (without the guarantee that everything will die because of divine shields), you will most likely be dead before you can do anything.
Equality is never used except for removal. You will never Silence your Equality'd minion, ever, unless it's your own minion after you cast Equality. Also, "it's insanely slow" but Pyro + Equality is still a 6-mana entire board clear. It was never crucial at 4 mana. This "nerf" was completely unnecessary and won't change a damned thing. "This had nothing to do with Baku" is BS.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
This is a great nerf - the card is still totally viable. Other than losing the emergency turn 4 pyro/equality, the card still does everything it needs to, as you're normally playing it in the mid/late game to wipe a really big board.
This nerf was kinda telegraphed by Shrink Ray costing 5 and still being good enough to see play
I mean it was a strong card, but this is just over the top. Why are these always mana nerfs into Magma Rager Tier.
If they reaaally wanted to change the card, why not edit the text for example to (I’m Not a dev) „Change the Health of ALL minions to 2“(for 2 mana)
This would encounter the Pyro Equality combo, leave the Equality Consecration clear viable and your board might be a bit stronger, but their aim was demolish early cheap boardclears, which would be struck down by this.
I just don't see how this is now a dead card... I see plenty of classes run more expensive board clears, and paladin has tons of healing and now even time out.
Equality/consecrate is now 8. Ok... so you still get to kill everyone of your opponents minions regardless of health, keep you board of 1 health minions, and do 2 face damage. What other class has something better without a hefty condition attached?

I'm wondering now if Paladin won't run Consecration, but instead run 2x Shrink Ray, alongside Equality and Pyro, simply because Equality + Cons is so expensive now.
Sorry to say it, but i think that this IS A GREAT NERF!
Not because paladin don't need it, because yes, they need a board clear; but because adding any new board clear for paladin is useless BECAUSE Equality exist.
Look at Shrink Ray: Not used because Paladins have equality. And it was in every single deck except odd-paladin and some other aggro-paladin decks simply because it is so strong.
Other example: Enter the Coliseum: Not used at all; because why bother with 1 minion when you can simply clear the whole board with this everlasting combo.
I like the nerf, but i can understand why people are upset about it; and I personally would have waited with this nerf until the new xpack comes out and give paladin a new board clear that is different to it. Still i can understand why it gets nerfed.
I'm a sad panda. Destroyed the future of control paladin to nerf 1 deck that is 3% of the meta right now. Yeah, a lot of Paladins have always run equality---because its the only decent board clear the class has ever had. How about printing a decent alternative instead? Should we nerf brawl too because all control warriors use it? I used to play almost exclusive paladin, and in a fast meta (i.e., most metas) most games would hinge on whether I got equality/pyro or concentration by turns 4-6. Now even if you get it you still lose because you can't play it.
ANY form of Control Paladin got way worse now because of Genn Greymane and Mr. Baku the Mooneater. I really hope they give us something good in April.
Since most threads are discussing those two cards, a genuine question now! How do you fix them? Remove them entirely when their time to rotate hits (another year from now)?
Because it doesn't make sense to adjust the hero powers on a case by case basis (or is it?), or they have to hit all 18 of them

They will fix Genn and Baku by nerfing the standard heropower to 3 mana (with Genn it will be 2) !
The issue is that 4 mana is a very competitive spot for paladin, So many tools that are used at that slot, so it's hard to see how Equality can be used without setting off the curve. Additionally, Shrink Ray seems like a better option, though it can't be used if you're getting past taunt, because your 6/1's are now just 1/1's instead. :/
Furthermore you don't have to sit and wait to draw into Pyromancer or Consecration for the card to be worth anything. The class can crap out 1/1s for free that can challenge almost anything on the board thanks to this card, but people only think of it as a combo enabler and that is short sighted.
It's not short sighted. That shit you talk about 1/1 dudes and Equality seems awesome and cool on paper, but this card has probably been used with Wild Pyromancer and Consecration like 99.99% of the time by people to be effective, and I'm not exaggerating.

But then you are nerfing the game itself for the sake of two cards, hero powers will be really stupid, they are already kind of over-costed (but balanced at 2 mana)
Hunter mark 2 mana for 1 minion this one 4 mana for all minions make sense though.
Paladin can stall still turn 6 in most case so I dont really see the problem. Turn 6 you more likely draw your pyro than turn 4 anyway
I agree with this. I don't get why people are freaking out over this nerf. 6 mana board clear is still very, very strong.
It is very strong when you spend only one card, 6 manas 2 cards combo for a board clear sucks, this card was killed and never will see play again like warrior axe.
3 manas will be a serious hit but the card can survive, 4 manas is far beyond you can pay for a setup card.

Old equality + consecration? Two card combo, check, 6 mana to pull off, check, people still played it? Check.
This nerf will do nothing except make paladins early game survival slightly weaker, that's all.

Freezemage was the best deck ever!
Some nerfs are just justified after we see the cards of the new expansion.

Paladin is getting insane cards for even or control decks next expansion, otherwise this nerf seems pretty dumb if you ask me.
I am just hoping these nerfs are pre-preemptive of something amazing to come in the next patch otherwise they seem a bit extreme.
