Good one. Played many games when I just couslnt answer to their turn 1 coin minion into cb.
Yeah I don't know who the heck would do that. You hide your Cold Blood until you have a minion that's ready to go, preferably an Argent Squire and/or Argent Horserider. CB one of those in the very early game on an empty board and usually it's gg.
4 damage for 2 mana is still not bad. Minions with Lifesteal and Windfury are still a reason to run Cold Blood over Eviscerate. Or you can always run both, if your deck is built for it.
Even though Odd rogue loses a bunch of their burst options, they still have access to deckhand along with better chip damage from the upgraded hero power as tools to use alongside cold blood.
I'm not sure they will still be playing Deckhand without access to Cold Blood. It has its uses for making early game trades but its main role was being an enabler for burst with Cold Blood. I think if Odd Rogue is to survive as an archetype into the patch (I don't think it will), it needs to re focus its strategy completely around aggressive snowballing of the board, probably looking at 3 and 5 mana options to replace Deckhand and Cold Blood. Whatever happens it looks like it will get dominated by control moving forwards.
Ya'll comparing this to Blessing of Might as if Cold Blood were unconditionally +4 attack. This post was brought to you by the letter K.
This card at 1 mana WAS oppressive and (thanks to MF'ing Baku the GD Mooneater) forever going to be a problem in Odd Rogue with regards to the strength of 1-drops (and to a lesser extent, defensive 3-drops in order to protect the 1-drop) they could print. If you think otherwise, you'd better bring some pretty strong evidence because IMO you're just kidding yourself.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
^ This. In this particular case even more so because buffing minions is a central part of pally identity and has absolutely nothing to do with the rogue class. This is far from the first time one class has weaker tools than another, and that is part of good game design (we have 9 distinct classes for a reason).
When comparing Blessing of Might to Cold Blood, it’s not really a problem of “class identity” so much as it’s a problem of Rogue having significantly better ways of taking advantage of cheap attack buffs then Paladin does due to having cards like South Sea Deckhand (which might as well be a rogue card) to serve as buff targets, In addition to having access to several other forms of cheap burst (Eviscerate, Shadow step, etc.) to supplement the damage gained from Cold Blood. In comparison, Paladin’s cheapest direct damage spells (Hammer of Wrath and Consecration) cost 4 mana and do low damage, and the only charge minions Paladin has access to that Rogue doesn’t is the 4 mana chill blade champion.
Even though Odd rogue loses a bunch of their burst options, they still have access to deckhand along with better chip damage from the upgraded hero power as tools to use alongside cold blood. All of this is to say that, at the end of the day, it’s not that cold blood (in it’s soon to be pre-nerf state) is a significantly better card then blessing of might in a vacuum, so much as cold blood in Rogue is way better than blessing of Might in Paladin. It’s a textbook example of why cross-class comparisons of class cards should be done with care. “Class Identity” aside, some classes are just way better at taking advantage of certain types of cards than others (for example, Shadow Ascendant. Okay in Priest, probably broken in Warlock/Shaman/Paladin).
All true, though it is alongside my point rather than instead of it. I still stand by paladin deserving better minion buffs than anyone else (except perhaps priest) because it is their thing. Just as rogue ought to get the strongest single target removal or hunter the best beast synergy etc.
You can use both the classes abilities to abuse cards and class identity to justify Cold Blood being (almost) objectively weaker than Blessing of Might.
this is terrible, wth, unnecessary hit to miracle, they couldnt even remove the combo from it, literally the combo mechanic just needs to change to battlecry at this point if theyre not going to upkeep the fact its supposed to be more powerful for a pretty steep extra condition to get full value. mate even holding a dragon cards (which isnt nearly as hard) have better bonuses than combo, the only combo card barely worth the condition is minstrel. blessing of might is way better than this, sinister strike is probably better at this point. blizzard just want the game to start from 3 mana but cant say it
Then you lost to bad odd rogues, because there’s no reason to coin coldblood on turn 1, save for very special circumstances.
Bad change, defeats point of teching Skulking Geist

Farewell Wild Odd Rogue! As a last hurrah, thank you for carrying me to a 14-2 record rank 9 to 5 in just over an hour....
Hmm. I guess it really does need a nerf. What deck to grind to rank 5 with going forward?

The card needed to be changed, but it's insultingly weak now. 4 stats for 2 Mana usually comes with an upside, not a condition.
Good nerf, now Rogue will have a hard time killing you in 1 turn
this card wont be bad after the nerf because eviscerate is still a good card at 2 mana.
Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.

They need to use the Hall of Fame more instead of nuking cards from orbit.
This isn't a nerf, it's a deletion.
If I just straight up swap this out for Abusive Sergeant in Tempo Rogue and Odd Rogue, they might still be ok? What do we think?
Acherus Veteran would probably be better. That 1/1 body on Abusive is brutal plus the attack buff doesn't stick.
I've seen zero odd rogues since the nerf, but I think Deadly Poison might be a better swap.
It was usually in as a 2-of already...
The deck is probably dead, too slow to punish greed, which was its main strenght.
