I bought a random Rastakhans pack with some gold and it contained a Golden Hex Lord Malacrass. Here's the thing... I don't really play Mage and the times I do it tends to be Tempo/Elemental based. A huge value card like Hex Lord Malacrass just doesn't enter into my thought process.
Golden Legendaries are rare. I would keep it, even more considering that we don't know what the next expansions/metas will look like. Unless you are in a hurry to dust it all out, keep it
You may want to double check witht the Legendary Tier crafting guide, but I'm pretty sure that one is safe to trade for a legendary that will actually get played

I have this guy too. He basically just draws 3 or 4 cards since you don't have much control over your mulligan. It doesn't seem bad however there's only one big spell mage deck that occasionally uses him currently. My hand has always been pretty full when I draw him. I'd say dust (if you have an immediate need for dust)
Don't just dust for the sake of a huge dust pile. Is there a card you want right now? Like Genn or Baku? If that's the case then disenchant and enchant that card. But for all we know this card could be meta-defining in a few months, without the Death Knights who knows what will happen to the standard format?
I mean you kinda answered your own question. If you don’t really play mage then craft a legendary that you enjoy from whatever class that you like. As a player who enjoys mage a lot, I have yet to see any play with hex lord. I think he’s too slow, and that there are better cards to replace him with.
That's some good advice. I think I'll hang onto him for now. There's no Legendary im really after at the moment, and the 1600 dust could come in useful after Rotation..
As it is I've dropped a Water Elemental to squeeze him into my Keleseth/Elemental Deck. Hopefully I'll have Keleseth AND FLJ in my opening hand..
I've used him in various Mage decks. More often that not he gets you something you can use, but in heavy control matchups a lot of times you cant fit the cards in your hand.
I even dusted my golden Ysera LoL. But i waited long and after seeign I nvere used her is did it. so don´t hurry, wait till rotation and if you need the dust do it....
I think that this card will see play after the rotation. They always seem to make sure that control mage is "a thing." People said that Sindragosa was too slow too, and it's in every Jaina mage out there.
I've enjoyed my DE strategy. I will never play wild, so I just dust the clearly worst cards from the wild set to craft fun decks in the standard rotation. However, I think the best rule of thumb is to never dust anything in the standard rotation. This thing will take another year before it rotates, so just wait until then even though I think the card sucks. You never know what comes out in the next expansion to suddenly make it good. Look at Hadronox, for example.
I just dusted mine. It was golden as well. If you don't play mage, and don't play decks like this. Why in the world would you keep it. And those saying "yeah but you can get it again" ... so what! The next time it will only be worth 400 dust. This thing is worth 1600 dust. Take the dust and move on.
Unlike the fake news belief that rotations change everything about how a class is played, the reality is that the same nuances you didn't like about the class before.. still exist and you still wont' like it. Even if it's a powerful deck and mage is all of a sudden the best deck in the world.. it will still suck to play because it's mage and a boring suckfest.
Now clearly others like mage and this is my opinion about mages.. but again.. not dusting this card because "what if" doesn't make sense. In fact.. dust all golden legendaries you get period unless its used in multiple class decks OR its one you've been waiting to get.
I actually us him in an even tempo mage. But it´s not needed and a lich king or undataka will basically do the same or even slighly better job. I want to use all three Lol.. but it feels too much in a tempo deck.
I got this card recently but I just can't think of a use for it in standard. I won't dust it as it may be good one day but right now I can't see the value in getting your mulligan back.
I mean what would you like, maybe if you're playing keleseth you could get another, you're quite late into the game by then though so what value another keleseth would do is questionable.
Do you keep late game cards and hope you survive long enough to compensate that decision?

So. Its the inevitable question. Keep or dust?

Keep it if you don't need dust right now. You can dust it in every moment, maybe later that card will be playeble, dont rush.

Remember, if you dust him you can open him again, so dust only if you will not open more RR packs.

He's really strong in Reno Mage since it allows you to get duplicates of cards and get past the highlander restriction.
keep it until you make a new deck that you need the dust for.
I'm Nate and I enjoy writing. I got kicked off of my school newspaper so I figured I'd bring my passion to my favorite game.
He’s only used in Reno mage in wild, i don’t think he’ll see a ton of play in the future, 8 mana 5/5 is pretty damn slow
I even dusted my golden Ysera LoL. But i waited long and after seeign I nvere used her is did it. so don´t hurry, wait till rotation and if you need the dust do it....
Keep it until you open another Malacrass.

I'm still sitting on my Harbinger Celestia, Duskfallen Aviana, etc until they finally rotate because...you never know!

You can't open more than one of the same legendary, they changed that a long time ago.
I actually us him in an even tempo mage. But it´s not needed and a lich king or undataka will basically do the same or even slighly better job. I want to use all three Lol.. but it feels too much in a tempo deck.
