1/4 Taunt for 2 would never see constructed play. Way too weak. Goldshire Footman for 2 mana.
A neutral 1/4 taunt for 2 would constructed see play because it's neutral.
Twilight Geomancer never saw play. It was arguably one of the worst cards from WotOG.
Some cards can be unplayable in one meta and good in another. While I'm not sure this would see play if it was only a 1/4 taunt for 2, i don't think comparing it to something similar from a completely different meta is a fair comparison.
That was a different meta and has absolutely no relevance to the Standard meta of today. You can't just brush off cards like that.
Yeah. I was going to say that too. Genn and Baku weren't around back then.
And Pirate/Dragon Warriors and Aggro Shamans aren't around now. That meta was much more aggressive than current meta we have, so if a 2 mana 1/4 taunt didn't see play during that meta, it definitely won't see play in the current meta.

To be fair the 2 drop's back then was better than they are now. There is an reason people skip 2 drops for prince keleseth now in a lot of decks.
1 drops was also better this will die to tunnel trogg/mana wurm, smalltime buccaneer plus dagger, spirit claws.
It's a good card, not every card needs to be meta defining or featured in a T1 deck. This is a good card for a new player to have in their fairly limited collection when they first start.
Think about when you first started this game, or any game. And every new card is a cool upgrade. This would be in that boat for a new player to get in a pack.
It would also be a pretty good pick in Arena if you had this as the best of a bad 3.
As for you guys feeling sad for the other cards..
1- Silverback Patriarch is a free card. Not a rare. The rare quality means this Gnome is allowed to be better.
I would be more concerned about the lack of Odd cost cards we have seen revealed. Do you think they are trying to nerf odd decks by releasing a lot more even cost cards?

Prince Keleseth is sad because this is actually a pretty good card. Voted very good.

Surprised how many people think this card is good.
Could be playable as a tech card if cards like lost in the jungle happen in lots decks. But mostly just a bad card.
A 2 mana 1/4 taunt is bad. Stonehill defender was/is better because it also draws a usually high value card for only 1 more mana.
Why do you think a 2-mana 1/4 taunt is bad, but a 3-mana 1/4 taunt that only has its value realized later is good?

Rip odd paladin
Stop it! Silverback Patriarch is already dead!! ;~;
......pour one out for Silverback Patriarch
JMAP94. The best way to love the artist is to love the art.
Juste the Stonehill body at 3 mana is annoying when playing a face deck, this at 2 mana could see some play at some point.

this card won't see any play in ladder. In arena it's score on HA tierlist will be around 45
I've smoked a lot of ganja dust so I'm forever not2fast.

A lot of 1-4 mana Neutral taunts going away in the next rotation :
Stonehill Defender
Tar Creeper
Saronite Chain Gang
Stubborn Gastropod
Lone Champion
Stegodon
Wax Elemental

could probably pave the way for a slower, more midrange / Control, meta
Holy fucknuts, this card is bananas

2- Prince Keleseth won't care because he will be gone soon.
3- Tar Creeper will also be gone soon.

Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.
This is good start for non-baku Quest warrior
I originally voted this card as bad, but after thinking more about it it definitely is a pretty solid drop, even better against aggro decks.
