Its all a fun card, but since paladin doesn't really have anything to win with in the lategame I don't see control paladin pop up, ofcourse it works good with Crystalsmith Kangor. But sadly I don't think its any good in the current meta.
Very difficult card to rate this early in the expansion, as it clearly needs support to push it over the edge - and it remains to be seen whether that will happen in this set or not. But considering some of the synergies that are out there - Lynessa Sunsorrow, Spikeridged Steed, Sound the Bells!, Prismatic Lens etc., there's definitely potential.
Another classic example though of a card that would be SO much better if it had taunt! Following in the footsteps of Countess Ashmore, Blackhowl Gunspire and many more...

Why does it need taunt? it has rush, high attack and life steal, it makes for a big life and board swing, you can also buff it to have more attack and give more hp, also it does well with corpsetaker aswell
holly wraith hemit deck in wild might want this , assuming it doesnt have its mana reduced while in deck , apart from that a complete brick which is too slow , 2 kings and 2 steeds to get this card to 5 mana , you should have probably won the game by then .
If you can't drop it in the board at turn 7-8 max, is has zero value. Isn't a win condition, or even a winning board condition like warlock one, nor even to make good pressure (7 dmg isn't enought to kill lich king for example).
And remember that, aside of other classes, paladin' spells has the requirement to have A MINION IN BOARD. At least one, even equality or consacration. So isnt just dropping spells, you need a target in your board. So add 2 more mana in hero power to all your calculations, as a minimum standar (of course you can drop 1 mana minion, but not every turn).
Any evaluation of this card before the set is revealed is really premature. I'll assume it can reach a playable mana cost without an insane amount of work. At which point, it becomes a very good stabilization tool.
Amazing card...wrong class. This would be absolutely meta-defining in Druid (Nourish, infestation, and branching paths make this free) and Mage (tempo mage or big spell mage would both like this) or workable in Warlock (control: seals and twisting nether), Shaman, or priest (scream + spellstone). It could even be playable in some warrior control decks, but Paladin is simply the worst class for this card to be.
So it won't matter if this is in your deck or not, any Paladin playing a rogue has a chance that Academic Espionage puts a 1-cost version of this in their deck. Awful.
Unfortunately I have to rate this as bad. But let's face it, historically, paladins are known for getting some of the most powerful legendary card ever printed. Having an expansion give them a bad one for a change is a nice change of pace.
The only straight up powerful class legendary for Paladin in this standard rotation was Tarim. This is a misconception. The time Paladins had really good legendaries consecutively was probably when Burnbristle and Light Rag were in the same rotation.
Shirvallah seems boring to me but that's another topic; it feels like a Light Rag replacement that could see play depending on how easy it would be to reduce its cost to something playable.
I was reading this today about the Loas and it made me think:
Paladin - High Priest Thekal, Champion of Shirvallah's Tigers
This master fighter is a fan favorite! Wielding the Light as a weapon, he can use his healing energy in ways Paladins haven't seen before. Confident to a fault, Thekal moves almost as quickly as he talks, dancing around his opponents for the crowd.
I have no idea what that means... but what if Paladins can weaponize healing with this Loa the way Priests can with some of their cards? That might make this card far more interesting.
Powerful but extremely awkward to use. Buff Paladin will probably pick it up, don't know about Control. You might have to warp your deck too much to make it worthwhile.
All the major Paladin decks I have seen while playing this game have been minion-based, not spell-based. Still, I hope this card will help to push Paladins in a new direction.
I’m running a control pally with Kangors Endless Army and Crystalsmith Kangor. By putting this in by late game it’s easily 14 life gain and kill a sizable creature. I won’t craft it anytime soon but I see the potential. My biggest problem is the Spikeridge uff rotating out. Those are crucial in retaking the board, slowing aggro, and reducing the cost of this card.

Need to explore some synergry with Holy Wrath
There must be some way to cheat it out of the deck...

This would be better with overkill

I'm assuming Forbidden Healing will not lower this?

I didn’t think about prismatic lens... good call.
“Put your faith in the Light!”
1) Spend at least 22 mana worth of spells.
2) Draw your deck as fast as possible.
3) Get opponent to 25 health or less.
4) Play Shirvallah, Baleful Banker, and Holy Wrath.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
I just got Duskfallen Aviana and realized I could discount this card to zero for my opponent. Sweet!
