So a conditional 3 mana, deal 3 damage to a minion?
Honestly, this is a lot worse than it looks. Would you rather have a conditional coin, or ALWAYS get a 3/3 wolf with Flanking Strike, or just have 3 damage for half the mana with Frostbolt?
I know for sure the latter two options are better than a coin.
No, simple don't work, the restrictions are far this way, you don't have cost 1 and 3 cards because Genn and no other card costing 2 because Keleseth, if you don't draw Keleseth you start playing in turn 4 in many games, 1 mana hero power don't save you for so much tempo loss.
Genn can work, Keleseth can work but Genn + Keleseth don't.
Uhm, I don't think it will work. There are two very obvious comparisons:
1. Tomb Pillager: this was a great card in miracle rogue. But a 5/4 body is a lot stronger than three damage to a minion (AND it has to kill the target)
2. Flanking Strike: this is a good card. Not great, but good. But a 3/3 body is worth a lot more than a coin (even for miracle rogue) and it doesn't have to kill the target. Plus, make flanking strike a little worse and it's not worth playing.
I don't think it will be strong. Maybe it will see play because miracle rogue turns out to be strong, but then it wouldn't see play because it's a strong card itself, but because it fits into an archetype that's really strong (because of other cards)
Seems to be slightly overcosted, probably designed around Preparation. May be used with Backstab to kill 4-5 health minions. If Miracle is playable, this one will be as well.
True, but I think they just do not want to kill every established deck. Imo Gadgetzan Auctioneer only enables one deck which is miracle rogue. I don't think its that big of a deal.
The card seems fine for me. nice flavour as you said, but also I think its going to be nice to have a 3 dmg removal for rogue, even if it is a little bit overcosted. and who knows what other cards are going to be added. maybe a 6 mana combo card. So WANTED on turn 4 into coin 6 mana combo. Very optimistic but it could be :)
People don't really have an issue with Prep, Gadgetzan Auctioneer or Miracle per se, they just don't like all new rogue spells being forced to be balanced around that deck. If one of the cards was moved to the hall of fame the other decks in rogue can get some powerful new spells rather than these overcosted things.
That said, I am also waiting until we have seen the whole set to claim the card is definitely bad. But it wasn't long ago Spectral Pillager was released so there is no guarantee of anything.
insane card. not a hard condition at all and the pay off is insane in miracle.
I second that! People are forgetting about the risk of giving cheap spells to Rogue. This is a card meant for Miracle only, and for that, it's perfectly balanced. Of course, it won't see any play whatsoever outside Miracle, i guess that's clear to see.
Really good with Preparation, but is practically unplayable without it. 4 mana is too much of a commitment for Miracle Rogue, just to deal 3 damage and conditionally get The Coin. The question, really, is whether you are willing to save a Prep for this. Miracle Rogue relies on fluidity, and I don't think that a card which requires another card to be playable will help keep Miracle Rogue fluid.
Then again, I could be wrong. A lot of players overlooked Reno Jackson, and look how that turned out.
In a void, it's too bad because of high cost. But since it's an epic, I expect some synergy cards for Rogue to be printed along this one. WANTED can support miracle or deathrattle archetypes in some way.
But if Greymane Rogue will ever be viable, I suppose this will be an auto-include.
Even for 3 mana it would be bad. It should cost 2 or deal 4 for 3 mana. It can't hit face and give a coin only if minion dies. Frostbolt hit any target for 2 and freeze, Darkbomb hit any target, lightning bolt cost 1, even unplayable hammer of wrath can hit any target and gives you card unconditionaly.
you idiots who think this is a bad....you realize rogue has a card called preparation right? plus giving rogue another Coin is always useful.
Let's take a look at the decks that run prep:
1. Miracle rogue: a deck with pretty much no open slots
2. Quest rogue: a deck that obviously doesn't want to run this.
3. Mill rogue: a deck that's pretty much laying on its deathbed right now, and wouldn't want this.
Miracle rogue is the only deck that can run this deck. If this card works, it's because miracle rogue is strong, not this card. And besides, like someone mentioned: not every rogue spell has -3 attached to it. It doesn't change that this is overcosted.

Forget how good or bad it is, the flavor of this card is awesome.

Thematically cool. Tomb Pillager was so much better though!

For now: bad.

Terrible, compares very unfavourable with Flanking Strike, which already was pretty meh.

Arena experiences:
Even for 3 mana it would be bad. It should cost 2 or deal 4 for 3 mana. It can't hit face and give a coin only if minion dies. I feel like people are underrating this card in miracle rogue board control and hard removal is pretty good and it combo well with preparetion.
I feel as if this card should just forgo the condition and gift you a coin for playing it, akin to Hammer of Wrath.
Just playable this provides additional option for Miracle rogue
This is not what we WANTED!!!
