Meta defining is a stretch. Fun, cool, interesting, and it has a few decks that could slide it in, and a few decks that wouldn't be happy to see it played against them.
Great design, sweet card, but meta defining? No. But I won't be sad to open it, because it looks to be fun to play with.
WOW! 19 pages of posts in 5h! 42,7% Meta-defining votes! Really? This is an awesome meme card. You know, those decks your favourite streamers play, and you got the card, but are missing those 2,000 dust to make, and those cards needed are not used in any other deck? Yes, that kind of deck! (Remember when they played Madam Goya in Shaman?). Basically, you are either playing mil, to get it fast, which is by itself a bad deck. Or the high roll scenario is too unlilkey. Most decks will punish you a lot for your missing turn 4. Or, most decks run a decent target removal (and yes, they know they will need it soon to not use it and keep it).
Hearthstone is a lot of fun for its meme decks. The streamers that play tier 1 decks don't do as well as those that play those more meme, lesser tier decks. And I love these type of card exists (please Blizzard, make sure I don't get it, I already got Moorabi). But no way this card is worth Meta-Defining or so much discussion.
This is actively a bad card against decks that do not draw a ton... so good against combo and thats like... it
Control saves a clear for it, aggro/tempo/midrange kill you if you play it on 4.
Fair anti combo card. though overall bad imo. super slow to make an impact and you sacrifice alot of your early game to make it happen. Plus you probably need other cards to pressure to make them waste their removal on if you actually want this minion to get its attacks through.
Everyone's like mill rogue this or fatigue deck that but what about silence priest?
That deck is already viable and now they get a 20/20 for four with just any silence affect. And if they have to use hard removal on a four drop, that's still value on your end.
Anyone freaking out about this card killing "Reno" is being silly. Blocking Kazakus doesn't really matter. Blocking Raza is far more important. Because this and Raza are both 1-ofs, it's basically a 50% chance in every game of who will draw each card first. Are you going to spend 50% of your games drawing a completely dead card? Dirty Rat is way more effective and versatile (drew out and killed Velen the other day ftw - also, aggro). And then actually playing this card for the 20/20 effect is laughable. Your opponent will out-tempo you and attack face. Now, if it works in a mill deck that would be hilarious and great. I enjoy mill decks. But they're never top tier.

Then why is mill rogue top tier in wild?

I wish it was actually the Reno killer. In reality, unlike Skulking Geist, this card's text is "Pay 4 mana to do nothing", which is an auto-loss in 99% of games. Granted, the games it ISN'T an auto loss are against reno priest... But I don't think that's going to matter.
The Darkness On turn four you play this card, It sits there like a lump of lard. Three candles it takes to wake, They will take forever for heavens sake. Your board will wait for it to grace, While your opponent hits you in the face. Your health is low it starts to rise, But your in for a big surprise, Your smart opponent saved a way to kill There is also a taunt in the way still. A vilespine or death will come real fast Then it is gone at last.
The lesson is a simple one, Though you wont have much fun The darkness will be a bust. Most will turn it into dust.
To all the people saying this would be good in mill rogue, If you mill one of the candles off your opponent, they never get the draw a card effect, which is the same as extending their deck size by 1. Also, the 20/20 will never summon. I think this has good synergy with Valera the hollow though, as your opponent has 6 candles and only needs to draw 3 for your 20/20s to activate.
No one has mentioned it that I've seen yet so let me bring this possibility to light. This card in a priest deck... They have a 0 mana silence... turn 4 20-20.
This card is most comparable to Chillmaw, Skulking Geist, and Eater of Secrets historically: cards Blizz thinks will fix their horrid meta but that Just. Simply. Don't. Do. Enough.

Remember your talking about at least turn 10 to play the darkness in that case because you need Valera and the passive hero power to duplicate the card. After you have not played any card but Valera the turn before, you will play 8 mana for cards that wont do anything. You better have board control to play it. If not your opponent has at least three turns to go face if the candles come out one after another, but that likely wont happen. Its more likely they will have 4 or more turns and you have sacrificed tempo.
nice raza you got there.
So is this the final boss of the dungeon cause that's pretty tough to beat
This will be interesting to see if it finds a deck to fit in

Question would argust the defender make this into a 20/20 taunt or does the "dormant" language prevent that?
To OP... silence and Argus will destroy with this
COntrol Warrior surely can afford turn 4 doing nothing, but the main selling point is somehow slower the Priest Raza activation.

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

If you’re wanting to double up on candles, try running this in shaman with the murmuring ele.
