Most likely the priest would drop that way sooner vs a mage. The mage is sitting back loading it will spells so it takes longer to get going than a priest would want to wait to drop their DK.
If you pay less than 5 mana for any of those spells, Dragoncaller Alanna won't count them... and obviously the tokens created by Deck of Wonders won't count either.
Filling the board like this is a viable finisher, tbh, particularly when they're immune to all but one AE in priest decks. Still, my reaction is that this is meh. Just a finisher, nothing special.
how about the priest dk
Okay, yeah, two AEs, my bad. Forgot about SRA's battlecry!
You also kind of forgot Pint-Sized Potion/Shadow Word: Horror.
We almost certainly know it does not count. Taking Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Wild Pyromancer as examples, cards that say "when you cast a spell" actually mean "when you play a spell". These two cards only trigger when you play spells from hand.
I think the key issue is not "cast" vs "play", but whether a spell is counted as being cast by "you".
I've heared this reasoning before, but I don't think it really makes any sense.
You would argue that spells cast by Yogg-Saron, Hope's End don't activate Gadgetzan Auctioneer because the spell are not cast by "you". Yet, minions summoned, regardless of where they come from, are always considered summoned by "you". You can see this by how Knife Juggler triggers whenever you gain a minion regardless of who were the cause of this.
They have differentiation between Play/Summon because they thought about the difference when they created the game, but not Play/Cast because it was no issues until many expansions later. The result is that any cards that cast a spell that is not played from your hand won't trigger Gadgetzan Auctioneer.
It is confusing for anyone not familiar with this weirdess, and would be fixed by simply changing Gadgetzan Auctioneer to say "Whenever you play a spell" instead.
Similarly, Dragoncaller Alanna should say "summon a 5/5 for each spell you have played this game that cost (5) or more". That is unless they actually mean cast (from any source) in this instance.
card seems good, especialy versus classes without strong aoe, such as hunter and rogue. Vs priest and warrior seems like whatever minion to throw out.
I don't think 5/5 non-taunt bodies, whatever the count, would be very useful against either Hunter or Rogue on turn 9. If anything, they will provide a nice Unleash the Hounds finisher.
in most cases it will threaten lethal next turn, at the very least this requires immediate board clear. Not to mention the spells you investing is not "do nothing" it's proactive removals, etc, which are also investments in 5/5 dragons later with this card.
You also kind of forgot Pint-Sized Potion/Shadow Word: Horror.
Then... what's the third one? They don't die to Dragonfire, Holy Nova, 5-cost Kaza or even Duskbringer.
I guess they 'die' to Psychic Scream if we're counting new cards.
Yeah, I'm counting 3 with Psychic Scream, Horror and Anduin. If you bloat a control mage's deck with 5/5 dragons, it's almost better than if you killed them :D

look this way. mage can stall the game vs hunter easily with freezing effects. Just make your board irrelevant with Frost Nova-ss and Blizzard-s for example. Then clear your stuff with Flamestrike and next turn just slam this on board with 4-5 dragons, for starters.
assuming mage have at least some direct damage in hand (or just Alexstrasza) he can easily threaten lethal, and hunter can't deal with 5/5's on board without his own minions.
Weird because board filling is not Control Mage style at all, their identity is to throw spell at your face . Obviously you play this card as a part of Control matchup but Control Mage have so few threat and dont fill the board much during the game anyway so your control opponents will sure have a board clear for this. So it 1 for 1 , you cant do much tbh.

The card looks sick vs rogue and hunter actualy
IF you play vs hunter and you can confident play this card in turn 9 on curve without getting kill in the next turn, guess what you’ve won allready. Vs rogue this may be the case.

The artwork is so sick!
One of my favorite card artworks of this expansion so far.

Meh.
Control mage have no use of filling the board.
Too slow for a tempo deck.

its not good, setup takes too long to yield something as powerful as a nzoth, especially since cards like psychic scream will be seeing play.
Will be much better if summon dragons 4/6 with the ability, "If this minion are in your deck summon him again in the final of any turn".
So... with this and the priest weapon, are we getting more on-board dragon synergy cards?

Alexstrasza and Emperor Thaurissan are forever in my heart
