So far this looks like a very poor card. Not only does it have steep upgrade costs similar to quest completions. The spell is reactionary, and only strong against very specific board configurations. With the spell being telegraphed once you see the plethora of deathrattle minions, I doubt players will play into it very often.
Seems like they really want Rattlerogue with cards like Roll the Bones to be a thing. Unless they have some hidden gems among the remaining cards, I just don't see it happening.
I can't believe people think this is bad. Well, yes, I can, because hearthpwn users can never think outside the current meta.
Well, I also play Jade Rogue (for fun). And tbh the card, which was a nice support for it, was the recently revealed Elven Minstrel, because it gives the needed gas. What jade rogue also needs, are some ways to regain the board control, to make a comeback. Right now I can only think of Vanish, which isn't bad considering the combo potential with Valeera the Hollow and the minions you can get extra value of, but regardless once you are pressed against the wall, it's very hard to pull it through. + you have no real heals to recover from a severe taken damage (except maybe Mistress of Mixtures).
And regarding this thread, I don't think this card is good. I think people are rightfully calling it bad:
1) You will never want to play the vanilla version of this card. It's a horrific tempo loss. I haven't seen Sabotage being used, yet alone will this ever be. You must upgrade it, in order to make it playable. Else in most of the cases it will be a dead card in hand or a very desperate and unsecure Assassinate.
The difference with Deadly Shot, is that this card is used aggressively in an aggressive class (with aggressive or mid-range decks). This card works well there, because hunter cares more about inflicting a lot of damage to the face as much as possible and this could ensure them in some situations to kill that annoying taunt. Since they play the aggressor, they will dictate the pace of the game. Deathrattle rogue on the other hand...
That's why Elven Minstrel plays such a huge role here. Sine you play a minion centered, slow/value deck, your strength and your weakness comes primarily from the board state. This new card gives you chances you keep up with the tempo by not allowing yourself to run out of steam, aka to always be ready to play more and more. Lesser Onyx Spellstone just doesn't contribute to the strategy of that deck, you need powerful and immediate effects. That's why Vanish for me is a better inclusion.
2) Slow card. Playing 3 minions over the course of some turns is not that hard, but very few rogue deathrattle minions are worth the inclusion + in some cases you won't be able to build up a board (i.e. to spam those minions) in order to upgrade the spell, because maybe you will be pressured by the opponent, which gains tempo with each passed turn, and you would actually want to react to his board.
And if I have to start talking about playing those 6 deathrattles - this will happen only against control decks. Only there you will find the opportunity to meet the requirements for this card. The bad news are, that you won't need this card anyway, because a) Vilespine Slayer will help you clear their annoying threats and most importantly b) you are playing jade, you will get a lot more value than them.
[for now I can admit, that his card is good against Big Priest, because you will often hit something big, but they are also getting a buff, so yeah...]
3) Randomness. I mentioned the part about Sabotage, but just imagine playing against a flooded board. Not a zerg deck, because you will be dead anyway, but just a fairly full one (at least 4 minions). If you can't clear at least one minion, in order to increase your chances, then you are rolling the dices. And if this is your gameplan, if you constantly throw the dices just to hope for the good result, then imho you would want to use something else, something, which will feel more secure and consistant.
[edit] A list of the standard rogue deathrattles + Thalnos + loot hoarder, if you wish, + mistress + Kobold Illusionist, which goes more in a combo deck, than in a deathrattle one, but still good to mention + Journey Below if you wish. But regardless deathrattle rogue is a very slow one, it won't survive in the current conditions.
Well....the only question is, if Rogues will play a shitload of Deathrattle cards next 15 months....if yes then this is great...if not then this is garbage. Right now it wouldn't be included in many rogue decks imo...even though there might be potential for it in a new variant of miracle rogues.
I think this card is alright. It is a board clear, something rogue really has been lacking since the blade flurry nerf, but only in deathrattle rogue so it's not going to turn up in every rogue deck.
It might seems bad on paper. But I guess people will compain about how stupid this is wiping all of their minions soon. One thing is, this isn't the only card being released for Rogue this expansion. Others like Sonya Shadowdancer, Cheat Death (maybe more) can totally support this card really well
Sorry if this has been answered already but I just realized this card's upgrade requirement says deathrattle CARDS, not necessarily minions. Does that mean a card like Journey Below counts towards the upgrade?

Journey below is not a deathrattle Card. It is a spell that lets you discover one. But Kingsbane would count.

It's a card with the bolded deathrattle keyword.

The Card does not have a deathrattle. Like N'Zoth, the Corruptor also is not a deathrattle Card but merely summons Cards with deathrattle. Journey Below is just a spell.

Or did you just troll me? :)
No, it's pretty clearly specifically worded. I suppose there is a bit of logic to back up your side though, since Journey Below cannot discover another Journey Below.
Given that though, I wonder if Journey Below is worth running in the right deck since you can discover the new weapon.

I think he is saying that Journey Below CAN get you Kingsbane because it IS a deathrattle card. He understands that Journey Below itself is not a deathrattle card. He is only saying that kingsbane IS and hence can be fetched by journey below.

It's not Duskbreaker busted, but few cards are.

For the record it is only 6 death rattles to upgrade it to max, but still seems excessive for an unnecessary effect.
Remember when everyone though The Caverns Below and Sherazin, Corpse Flower were trash?
Bet your salty tears wish that were true EleGiggle
this is an AOE spell though.
How this work with DK?
If a play an upgrated spell killing 2 random enemy minions I get a copy for the upgrated spell or a lesser one?
Killing 4 minions spend only one card don't look sooo bad.
Deathrattle Rogue was killed when Unearthed Raptor got rotated out. Don't you remember Blizz, you're the one who did it.
HAHA I got it:)
The new weapon has synergy with this - you can play it several times to upgrade the spellstone.
Great synergy with Kingsbane. I revote from bad to playable. Its only destroy enemy board. Stronger than Flamestrike at max level
