Count me in on the "this is awesome" crowd. Including even 4 secrets puts you at ~75% to have a secret by turn 4. If this goes off as a 3 3/3 beasts for 5, it is amazingly good.
Image shows cumulative histograms of number of secrets over first draw that will be a secret.
this is actually pretty good. as others have remarked, solid as a t5 play, even un-upgraded. easy to upgrade, and pretty killer as a follow up to a board clear.
Woa.... i think control hunter isnt too crazy anymore. maybe not a traditional control deck, but a... tempo-control? like a mix between midrange and control deck that has spell removal early and curves into midrange and large threats
I guess that in wild you can do crazy stuffs with this. Emperor thaurissan allows you to play rhino, this, 2 timber wolfs + Hero Power for 30 dmg. You also have both tracking and stitiched tracker to find your combo pieces. In standard this looks a solid card. I think that it will be played if some hunter deck that runs secret package is viable. It looks a lot like living mana, but instead of transforming your mana you need to play secrets before casting it. We'll See, but it seems good to me.
could work in mid range. more tools are always a welcome sight for a currently underwhelming archetype. that being said, been wrecked by these recently if they get the better draw.
Good solid card for Hunter (much needed). Like Arcanologist, it might be too much value so all hunters will start playing secrets again. Its good when they give a strong card to a struggling class, but they do it without pushing their strongest deck.
The only bad news is: Priest will be still popular, and Duskbreaker will have a field day with that spell (they will wait for it). Otherwise, love the card.
But in Hunter, the Priest has already had to use their Duskbreaker on your early tempo board(Alleycat>Razormaw>Bearshark)
Not if you're playing secrets like the card wants. The real bad news is that hunter secrets are garbage.
This card is trash. It's situational, you have to have a dead card in your hand and play 3 secrets (and survive that, which isn't easy at all if any of you have experience playing standard secret hunter).
"Oh! But you can combo it with tundra rhino!" Cool! Turn 10 fifteen damage! Meanwhile raza priest is doing turn nine 22 damage, and they have class with actually viable control options to survive that long. You'll be long dead by turn ten because all hunter control options are garbage.
I mean, if the Control Hunter they keep pushing actually happens.
Good combo) Just like plain Trees+Roar in good old combo druid :)
Edit: I'm not saying hunter will be same viable :) Druid had perfect card draw and defense spells (he often played that charge trees against aggro to defend), and his combo synergized with minions already on board. Hunter has nothing of this.
Pretty cool. I always like to see more non-minion beast summons. Makes the idea of tutoring for a card like Kathrena Winterwisp more viable. Secret Hunter lost some of that when Bear Trap cycled out, but this is a nice addition.
what does tutoring mean in this context
Basically, limiting the number of beasts in your deck so that Kathrena Winterwisp is guaranteed to pull a very big minion. I think I'm using the term right, at least.
Almost. In this case Kathrena is the one doing the tutoring so it would be "Tutoring with Kathrena Winterwisp"
Edit: Just a quick note this is a bit of misnomer still. Generally with tutoring you have a more specific effect thing you are looking for and then it gets put in your hand. For example the priest 2 mana discover a spell is more like a tutor effect.
The term came from MTG from a card called demonic tutor which let you search your deck for anything you wanted and put it into your hand. Recruit is a bit different in that it actually shoves it into play.
Best case scenario I see for this card is a turn 10 Tundra Rhino combo for 14+ damage to face.
I actually had to edit my post since I gave the possible scenarios with this card some more thought. This will give the hunter class a new way to finish a game from hand. Something they were lacking for a very long time outside of double Kill Command + Hero Power.. This card has some potential.
If only the wolves had charge...
j/k

Hunter is back boyz

And I think time has come to include Eater of Secrets to any deck :)
This is going to be a great addition to my Control Hunter deck!
Feels like the old-school Force of Nature + Savage Roar finisher
If going wide wasn't so back right now in this game I would love this 100%.
Too bad druid and priest have great ways to counter or punish you for playing this.
Secret hunter with only big beasts and Kathrina Winterwisp might be a thing.
Carpe Diem - Seize the day
