This is a very good late game control mage card. It has elemental synergy and mage healing... like combo with Firelands Portal its a 8 mana 5 damage, summon a 5 cost minioin and gain 7 armour... value! So it even serves as a soft taunt, if you don't remove it the armour is gonna keep building and building.
Good now but feels sort of unnecessary in the current builds, will probably be a staple in control mage once Ice Block rotates though.
theya re going to ahve to print a lot more cards like this BEFORE even considering rotating ice block, a single 1 mana super killable minion doesn't support control strategies at all
Decently designed card. It is a one drop, which are always useful. Not as good as Fire Fly (for Elemental Mage) as people are suggesting. But still a solid one drop. Then if you draw on late game, you can combo it, making it essentially a better Iron Hide (you get the minion as well, so that just makes it better). Decent value, not broken, fair for its price.
Unluckily not broken things find it very hard to find play in constructed, so it might not see play there. But doesn't mean it is not a very well designed card.
I love it! I am totally in love with Elemental Mage (though I haven't ever played it yet, because I don't have DK) and am very much looking forward to play a nice Elemental Mage Control Deck!
(historically ice barrier was seen as a less than desirable card)
HA! That's bullshit. Anyone who has played Hearthstone knows that Ice Block is a NECESSITY for Control Mage setups, especially Freeze Mage and Quest Mage. This card makes those two variants even MORE of a pain in the ass - ELEVEN Armor on Turn 4. Now instead of only Control Mages using this card, you're going to start seeing this in Tempo and Midrange. Mark my words, a nerf to Ice Barrier will come before Ice Block is rotated out of Standard.
No, they won't do that. Nobody gives a crap about Ice Barrier. And never will.
Because it's a very weak standalone card.
They have to give a crap about it when the expansion hits. I'm no idiot, I'm not going to pass up 3 free armor when playing Ice Barrier or Ice Block. That three extra armor has the power to swing games in your favor, and you're going to cry for Ice Barrier to be nerfed, mark my words.
No, I will not. This extra 3 HP is absolutely irrelevant, considering that you have to sacrifice an extra card slot and the actual card for that.
Pretty alright as a pure healing card, it can easily be 1 mana for 7-ish armor. The main problem would be that such cards are bad for both value and tempo, so they rarely see any play outside of very specific deck. I don't think this will see play because I can't think of a Mage deck that would want a pure health gain card like this. If there was such a deck, Mistress of Mixtures would seem like a better option.
C'mon guys... What's the biggest problem with Aluneth??? You could mill yourself. Now, by the time you're getting close to milling yourself, you likely got through your two Arcane Purifier and a bunch spells. Result, you're no longer starting with a pool of 30 hp, but likely 40 to even 50 HP. Aluneth is now way more powerful because of this little guy since you can now get rid of low cost cards (imagine simply playing Arcane PurifierExplosive RunesFrost Nova the turn after Aluneth was played while getting armor as a bonus There's tons of things mage can do with this little guy plus 6 mana on the turn after Aluneth, so gaining armor, and creating havoc on the other side while making sure your hand always stay below 6 cards at the end of your turn.
Great combo card in the late game to partner with Meteor and Firelands Portal. I think this, coupled with some of the new neutral epic minions, Big EZ Spell Mage EZ is going to be a thing.
this is nice, because there are many times where you are playing DK jaina and you are capped at 30 health. This is something that can make you live longer
This pretty much confirms Ice Block hall of fame. Or maybe not. But 2 years of standard with ice block + this would be silly.
Believe it or not, they'd have to nerf Ice BARRIER instead. Think of it, turn 4, play this, and get ELEVEN Armor, 3 from playing it and 8 from when you are being attacked.
wow gain 11 armor, lose a lot of tempo playing a 1/2 and a lose tempo card.
I think that unless you care about elemental synergies this card will see little/no play.

It's not about caring about Elemental synergies, you fool. This card/Ice Barrier go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Think about it - for four mana, you get more Armor than with two Shield Slams. That is HUGE in any mage deck that uses Ice Barrier. Don't come crying back to me and start bitching about how broken Ice Barrier is because you grossly underestimated how well the two work together.

huh... it doesn't works any better with ice barrier than in any other secret/3 mana spell also Shield Slam doesn't gain you armor.
you meant Shield Block. is 11 armor a magical number? ice barrier isn't such a great card outside of freeze mage/quest mage decks that try to stall the game.. if this card sees play it will be in a big spells/elemental mage which this card and the other one revealed today seem to suggest.
the point is if you don't use the elemental part of the card and even then it's probably a tech against aggressive decks.

Still don't get it, do you? You are going to see the card pop up a lot more than you used to. Ice Barrier is now borderline OP in those decks and players using the Artificer/Ice Barrier combo are going to be popping up like weeds.

Sİnce there is a time limit, it is not ifinite times zero, so zero.

Ice Block rotating next year confirmed!!
Pretty good card, more defensive tools for Mage so that they can rotate Ice Block.

I see only a 1 mana 1/2.

Hearthstone is a game of "copy and pasting"
Control mage, Kazakus mage, elemental mage, exodia mage (ALL MAGE) will be stronger guys.
top decking a 1 mana 1/2 isn't good for control I think. Sure u gain like 7 armor but you lose a card.
