I can see this as a good compliment to Tar Creeper in Highlander decks. But, I'm struggling to see how it is 'better' as some of you folks are contending.
I guess it does have 2 attack power on your turn which is meaningful. But, I'm trying to think of specific matchups where it would be better.
Lets say I'm playing Quest Mage and I want a card to help me counter Hunter/Evolve Shaman/Aggro Druid/Tempo Rogue. I'm not sure if this does a 'better' job vs. those matchups than Tar Creeper. Maybe someone could explain to me how it would be better?

You get why Quest Mage is not the best test of general usefulness, right?
The +2 attack power on your turn isn't just meaningful, it's huge for any archetype that depends on minion damage rather than burn -- both for tempo/survival and for the eventual win. But the divine shield on top of that is just bonkers. Any minion with both taunt and divine shield is probably going to be great unless its cost is absurd.

Big Druid then? Nevermind, you pick the deck and explain how it lets that deck survive better than Tar Creeper. I'm not saying it isn't better, I just would like some examples of play where I can see where it would be preferable.
Actually, just pick a deck that already runs Tar Creeper and make the case for swapping them out for this.
Edit: I know I'm coming across as snarky/bashing this card here. Not my intent. I just want to see what other folks are seeing by way of example.

Two pretty common examples would be vs Aggro Druid or Evolve Shaman for example, where you don't want them to have any board ever, so being able to trade with a Fire Fly, a Enchanted Raven, a Bloodsail Corsair or a Stoneclaw Totem before they buff/evolve really helps your odds of winning that match.

Ok, I can sorta see it. Lets say you are Big Druid playing Evolve Shaman.
Shaman, Flametongue Totem, smash you for 3, pass YOu: Lone Champion.
Now, they really struggle to remove your Champion. If it was a TAr Creeper, they would play that weapon that gives a jade and their other firefly, smash your tar creeper for 2 with weapon, trade with 3/1 firefly an dhave half a weapon and 2 minion on board vs. your empty. Wi8th this they can't clear your minion. Then next turn you can remove one of their things.
This seems like it is going to be a staple in control decks. They generally don't run many cheap minions, so this condition will be easily met. Very comparable to Tol'vir Stoneshaper, which doesn't currently get play because elemental decks aren't viable, but I think this condition is going to be significantly easier to meet. I rated this very good.
I forgot about Tar Creeper, which is the same mana cost and plays a very similar role. I don't know if this gets played over Tar Creeper, but I think it is a comparable power level, so it might.

What an amazing anti-aggro card. I'd say it's way better than Tar Creeper too.
YOu: Coin, Wild Growth, pass
YOu: Lone Champion.

Best arena card of the set so far! Will probably finish up as it too, incredible.
