While not OP, it is extraordinarily meta defining. And in addition, its hard to find a situation where it would become unpopular.
What ever would replace frost nova doomsayer for instance?
While yes, in a vacuum (without seeing what new cards and strategies that come) it would swing more power to aggro decks, I think Doomsayer has had its day in the sun for plenty of time and it's time for something new.
Having played a ton of control and mill decks since open beta, Doomsayer isn't as OP as people want to think it is - especially since it almost always needs a second card to clear the board. Doomsayer in non-mage classes is fine.
Ice Block, on the other hand, does need to goto the HoF.
Well they certainly didnt print a replacement this expansion, and i dont want to imagine a full expansion's time without a doomsayer equivalent. I think the card is too fundamental to be removed.
HEEEEELLLLLLLLL NO. It's one of the few good neutral anti aggro tools, and sometimes it's still not good enough. This card should not be rotated out until they provide us a similar power anti aggro tool
Pretty much this. Would be devestating for control decks. Although I wish he was banned from showing up during Evolve/Devolve.
blizz will probably make a doomsayer look alike that reads, if your opponent has 5 minions on their board, at the start of their turn destroy all minions.
what this does is punishes over extending and still gives them a turn to play tempo. essentially its a worse doomsayer unless you're getting over run.
but doomsayer probably has an 80%+ chance of being rotated for next year. Blizz just doesn't like staple neutrals.
No how about rotating out iceblock, savage roar, murlock warleader these are the cards causeing problems. Why would you want to rotate out a card that has "had its day in the sun".Doomsayer barely is able to hold its own on turn 3 because of all the little buffs and minions that are on the board by then.Besides you sound like you play zoo or pirate warrior.
Yes definitely! It is such a polarizing card that limits a lot of design space. A concrete example is the new card Treachery, that even though is absolute thrash, couldn't be made any better because otherwise it would be INSANE with Doomsayer. Not counting the stupid result of coming out of evolve. It's not a necessary anti-aggro tool either, nowadays people can deal with aggro decks in many different ways that almost never involve this card.
Absolutely not, doomsayer is well designed. And I doubt they were "limited" when they designed treachery, I'm sure they designed it with doomsayer in mind, with the understanding that the two would complement one another.
If we start rotating out every staple card from the basic set we'll end up having Loot Hoarders and whatever unbalanced card they release with each rotation. I believe it's very good for the game to always have cards like Brann that empower decks that want to do battlecries or cards like Fandral in Choose One decks.
Even tho I love Doomsayer, I think it probably should, because while the card is around, no other anti-aggro cards will see play, for example, why would you play Drakkari Defender (clearly an anti-aggro card) when you can just play Doomsayer. Cards like doomsayer limit the competitive card pool a lot. A clear example of this is Ragnaros the Firelord and Medivh, the Guardian, Medivh saw no play at all until rag was rotated out, and now is one of best late game legendaries of the game. But thats just my opinion

It's probably run just about as much as Azure Drake and it got removed for a similar reason I'm suggesting.
Lol no. Drake was run on every midrange deck ever. DS is only run in control decks if the meta is aggressive enough to be worth it, or in mage which has extra synergy for the card. What you could say however, is that the card is DAMN good in mage, whereas drake was mostly a filler card for the 5 mana slot.

I actually disagree, I think it's a good thing that it shows up from Evolve. Every time I see my opponent totem up and then Evolve, specially when they put Doppleganster, I'm just hoping to myself they land on Doomsayer to punish them, and extremely rarely, it does. It's like, you should know there is a small chance that you can get a Doomsayer if you evolve into a 2 drop, why risk a great doppleganster evolve turn by putting a totem that can turn into Doomsayer? I look at it as a misplay and I like to see misplays punished. (Obviously if you just had other 1 Mana minions that you couldn't kill off before Evolve, it does suck, but when you intentionally Totem and Evolve, it is nice when you get punished, because I do consider it a misplay.)
Because I lost an arena game when opponent had an empty board to my 3 drop and two bigger drops, and devolved into Doomsayer :). Should have just said it was not available from Devolve.

Well, I'm certainly not implying this expansion, would be 2 expansions from now in next spring.
Your last sentence though is exactly my reason for wanting it gone. Neutral cards shouldn't be that good or important.
To be noted too is that while they could print more oppressive aggro cards in the future, most of the important pirate warrior, aggro Druid and murloc paladin cards are leaving in rotation too.

This space intentionally left blank.

It's one of the best and most unique control cards ever printed. I see no reason to - it's not oppressive or anything

i dont belive that, most part of times doomsayer is like 7 of health is you not are a mage

Did you just call Doomsayer meta defining. You mean a meta from 3 years ago?
The Might of Dalaran has Arrived!
Ice Block needs to go
